I know there's similar posts to this, but I was just trying to get some sort of idea where Bijou peeps are from, so just leave a country/city and any witty comments if you're inclined to do so.

And to start it off, I'm a New Zealander and proud of it :D

actually no, it doesn't... unfortunately.... companies always use the disclaimer "continental US" to exclude hawaii and alaska... erm isn't alaska in north america? this way they rip us off on shipping costs... no UPS ground to Hawaii =P

they also use the term contiguous united states as well...

Sorry according to International Standards, there is no such continent called Hawaii. You are destined to belong to something, tough luck but you gotta deal with it. ;)

I would agree that you are not continental US but the area was not Cont. US, it was North Americas, which includes the Cont. US, Canada, Alaska, Mexico, and I would assume Hawaii as well, plus any others that I might have missed.

"Continent"-al US? What "Continent" are we from? Again, Hawaii is *not* included here... we are considered part of the territories of Oceania, along with the majority of Polynesian islands (Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, Tahiti, etc)... if you still consider us to be North America, which we are not, classify the islands listed above...

Well, after searching the net I, sadly, have to agree with you. You are not considered to be part of any continent. This is sad and funny all at the same time. Guess we needed another section in the poll for the Oceania territories, either that or you could have picked the Australasia since Oceania says it includes Australia.

Dang, I was hoping to avoid this discussion lol. Well as a New Zealander, I also live on an island, but I am still part of the 'Australisia' continent (sometimes named other things), as are Fiji, Samoa, Tonga etc.

I am assuming that all countries are considered in a continent, although this could well be wrong. I would assume that Hawaii is still part of the North Americas 'continent', but meh. We know definitely know where you're from, so that part of this post worked xD

i skimmed through that wiki article but don't see what you're referring to... hawaii is only mentioned twice (once as being excluded from the continental US and the second as Hawaii not being considered its own microcontinent)

if i'm missing something, please let me know... the Hawaii State Department of Education would have to seriously revamp their Hawaiian Geographical Coursework... lol

Wow. >.>; Some people failed at geography. Oceania is the correct labeling for the islands of the Pacific. Since you know, it's an ocean. The only way Hawaii could be linked to North America is through the USA, and then, by name alone. Not geographical location.
