SPam or Spyware

Well first of all, that's completely illogical, but I'm assuming you're just not a computer person, so I'll explain. Spyware comes from going to sites with any sort of advertisement, it installs little cookies on your computer that track what kind of sites you go on to collect information. Some can be malicious and bog down your physical memory or internet speed by sending and receiving lots of information. This can be removed with anti-spyware software such as adaware.

But to the point, game creators have no need for spyware, because they have no ads, so there's no reason to include spyware with a video game. It would also be a bad business move since they could lose a lot of customers by getting a bad reputation for sneaking spyware into your computer.

Lastly, having spyware would not prevent you from playing the game.

Runescape is browser based, and there are ads, on a website, so yes, tehre will be spyware.

To my knowledge this is not broser based, you download the game and play on a client, not exposed to spyware at all.

That's adaware, run the update, then run a full system scan.

That's spyware blaster, just update it like every month and it doesn the rest, you don't even need to run it except the first time. It prevents common spyware from ever being installed.

Dude just download it. Don't tell them. If you've never checked for spyware you could have 200+ spyware. 10+ is TERRIBLE sooo, you get what I'm saying? Download it. Don't tell them. They'll thank you afterwards. At least download the first one.

Never heard of spysweeper. Try adaware it catches a LOT of stuff. Firewalls have nothing to do with spyware.

I would kill myself if I didn't have control over my computer. They probably know less than you and they're trying to tell you what to do? I mean granted they're keeping you safe from some potential viruses, you still should be able to trust SOME downloads. I mean you get worse stuff just going to myspace. I get like 7 spyware a day going between like myspace and a few other sites like this. I mean jeez just download it it'll fix so much stuff that's wrong with your internet lol

Well your dad needs to learn a little about computers if he's not gonna let you download adaware.

Have your parents go to this site: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ it's the company that runs adaware and they can read about it so they trust it more.
