Hey,

I'm trying to learn how to make elrue and from what I can tell I have to buy the alchemy skil from ruby but I don't see skill to b uy from her specifically from alchemy. I chose potion making and material decomposition or whatever for my two skills... does this mean I will not be able to make elrue?

To produce elures you must have stone production.

Material composition makes a lower tier into a higher teir with an alchemy stone. While material decompostion does the exact opposite- higher tier into a lower tier.

Ah, that explains it. I really wish I would of chosen stone production. Material composition kind of sucks lol... Thanks for answering my question tho!

Do you think not having stone production and material composition instead will hold me back in the game later on? In like the sense of making money and stuff? I'm level 20 and i've worked pretty hard to get there but if the skills I picked are gonna hold me back I think i'd wanna switch chars now instead of later on. What do you guys think?

Or you could just have an alt, a character you play sometimes that you let level up the skills. All your characters on a server share the storage. That way you could still make your pots (and comp is superhandy for turning all those Vanished Signs into Signs of Trace! wish I'd known that instead of selling them to the NPCs) and have a way to make your stones, too.

It's late, I'm tired, pm me if I didn't make sense and I'll try again tomorrow. :)

Stone production can make you some serious money. Generally in Elures and Lixes since they sell the most, but Xirs generally in tier two and up are much more profitable and used often.

Material Compostion I am still very unsure about this. I do not really understand how once can make money with this. With all the calculations you lose money. It might only be from tier one to two. Very unsure from tier two to three. Though you generally use a large amount of the lower tier to make one higher tier.

You an alternative character on the same account is also an option. All characters share the same storage so this is a major plus. You can get all the skills if you want by having different characters. This way if you felt you wanted or chose the wrong skill you can have it easily.

I picked stone and scroll production. I know stone can make good money and scrolls are VERY useful. I just use the refining that the blacksmith has.

Just make that alt. The Alt can stay at L1 with no equipment, just give it the production skills you don't have and use Storage to transfer cash (for recipes) and materials around.

In fact, with 3 characters, you'll have access to all 5 production skills. They are all useful, though at varying ranges:

Stone is EASY to get started, and easy to make cash from, but unless you can handle weapon breaking, you'll be mostly making stones to sell with. P

Potions are the next easiest, and sells well too (30-50c for T1 pots). You'll use them yourself as well, though it'll seem you never seem to have enough.

Scrolls are extremely useful and give higher profits than anything else, but the materials are a PAIN to get.

Composition/Decomp are used to help your other skills. For example, if you have a batch of Dim dusts but want to make Elrue[1]s then just Decomp them to Old dusts. You can't use them to make a profit on their own (usually better just to sell the item unaltered), and take alot of work to get built up and useful, but if you're up to it, it'll give you a powerful boost to your other production skills.

So why choose between them? You're 2 L1 alts away from having your cake and eating it too.

To use stone production you need to go to Skill Master Ruby and purchase the skill. It should be on the first page make sure it says skill level 0. Then right click it like any other scroll so your character is taught the skill. Gather the needed materials and go to the alchemy tab. Right click the stone skill and go to elure and click produce.
