what is bittorent dna and is it required to play?

Bit Torrent is a downloading client that works on peer to peer file sharing. And I don't see why you would need it to play unless the game offers up patches in the future that are on a P2P system.
But then, I could be wrong. :)
*Admindment: I just read an above post that has the second email in it (haven't gotten mine so didn't read). Anyhow, the bittorrent DNA looks to be a p2p downloading client, perhaps for the sharing of patches when they are needed or the transfer of playinfo?
Once I get it set up I'll be able to see more of what it'll do.
