I've been trying to make and sell scrolls, but I have very little profit, so I'm considering switching to stone production, because I've heard it's more profitable, so I'm just curious.

They are more profitable since the blue/red perfect stones were introduced into the cash shop. Especially tier 2 since so many want to make that elusive +9 that will last them for quite a while.

Scrolls is very profitable, but it is much more expensive to get the needed materials so it takes a bit of time before profit can be made.

Potions is another good one, I find you tend to use the potions more for yourself then selling them because they are so useful and stones get expensive and it seems very few sell them because they are an easy drop from monsters.

Just remember once you choose two you can't turn back. The only way to get the others is to make another character on the same account due to them sharing storage this makes it very easy to get all the production skills.

Yeah, i agree, if you start from dead at the start of the game you can do elrue production and get lots of money after a while

Pots dont really get you money, but they save you LOTS on stones....

Scrolls only start to pay off after a LONG time when you can make tier 2.....

Potions: good for yourself, not too good compared to the other production skills in terms of making profit out of it

Stones: If you don't want to gather so many materials, then this is the best production skill to choose. you dont even have to upgrade to lix, u can just keep selling elrue...but your profits may be a little less

Scrolls: i haven't experimented with this yet

this advice is only from my personal experience, there may be other people who can give you a little more information

I find scrolls to be my money maker, Tier2 scrolls selling them at even 2s each is not so difficult. Get your hands on tier 3 vit and you're looking at 10-20s a pop.
Tier1 scrolls sell too i guess :|..... but so many people doing scrolls now.

err.... nvm guys scrolls sucks gets you no money :3

Scrolls doesnt suck. Personally, I dont use scroll production for money making. It is to refill my stock of scrolls when I solo. Really useful. Saves you around 100c a pop for tier one than if you buy it in a vendor.

If you are a cleric then Potions can be very handy. Keep the SP and sell the HP.
Scrolls can be very profitable and so can Stone making.
Though its a good idea to make another character who can comp/decomp materials for when your main gets to higher levels and can't get the materials needed for the skill.

I don't usually sell scrolls or potions. I keep them all to myself. I make my living by selling stone materials and other random stuff. If you really want to get to tier 2 scrolls quickly, you would have to purchase a LOT of SBL and maybe torn leathers. SBL can be hard to get sometimes, even if you're fighting summoned monsters a lot. In my experiance, summoned monsters at your level drop SBL at a rate of around 60%.

SP and HP potions are always useful. If you make enough of them that you feel like you don't need all of them, then you should sell the tier 1s for around 50 copper. But when it comes to other types of potions, that's your problem ^^

I really don't care for stone making in my opinion. When I try to use some of the stones I make, I end up losing profit for breaking my stuff lol. Even the lucky stones hate me.

Stone production is probably the easiest way to earn money.

Biggest potential? I'm having ALOT of success with Decomp actually. Tricky to get ahold of lots of alch stones but you'd be suprised how the economy allows Decompers to make a literal killing.

stone production : good n fast money for starting players because materials are easy to get and EVERYONE enchants their equips.

scroll production : hard to get materials, but very helpful for earning money at high levels. (seeing tier 2 and above are really expensive)

decomposition : so far one of the easiest ways to earn money. needs quite a lot of money to actually increase the skill level to the correct items though.

composition : never used it once at all. at least for me.

know what i do? create lots of characters.
i have all the production skills so everything is done by myself. earns me A LOT of money. and a good way to not buy over-priced items from other people.

- cheers! - :D

All of the skills have the potential to make excellent money. Everyone who whines about being poor is one of two things: lazy, or uneducated (which usually goes back to lazy) :D

The secret to making money is developing alternates so that you have all 5 alchemy skills available to you. Even if you never level these alternates at all, their alchemy skills are invaluable to you. And since you share your storage with all of your alternates, you can swap needed items whenever necessary.

The trouble with giving any more information out than this is that giving the secrets away cuts into my own profit margins. :D

I will tell you how I learned the secrets that I do know: I read the forums, I worked on ALL the alchemy skills, and I talked to players (politely) that I knew were making good money. One in particular helped me a lot in figuring things out.

Put the effort into money making, and you will be rewarded. As an example, I sell T1 Shield scrolls below market average price, but I'm making almost 100% profit on my investments. And I'll sell out in less than 10 mins at peak times.

A few other hints that help, but aren't deal breakers:
Leaving a shop up overnight (or while afk) lets you hold out for better prices from those who are willing to pay more.

Set up shop where there is a market for you. Don't sell T1 and 2 Pots in Uruga. Don't sell lvl 40 armor in Roumen. Know who your customers are, and find the place they will most likely be to sell them things.

Economy is all about supply and demand. If you want to sell your stuff quick, you have to beat the average price OR be the first option for people in a hurry (high demand). That means you should buy mats near gates, not near storage. Sell Pots and scrolls near gates of appropriate lvls.

Sell for the right price. I'm sorry, but Torn Leather is not worth 250c to anybody (on stairs near Shutian). You might sell 1 or 2 to a noob overnight, but I'll sell 250 of them right next to you for 10c in approximately 47 seconds. Do the math and tell me who wins. I already know who. :D (P.S. You don't have to have the LOWEST price, you just have to beat the AVERAGE price--but the lower your price, the faster you sell).
Advertise your price. If you have a good price, shout it to everyone right in your listing! I think just about everyone knows that the 'Cheapest Prices in Town!' sign guarantees that they aren't. If you put up a store that says 'Cheapest SBL', I'm not even going to look, because I know you're embarrassed to tell me the price.

Use your brain. People selling 5 stacks of T1 Vitality Scrolls for 100c seems impossible. Many people assume that they are taking a loss just to get their skill points up. But that's eventually going to bankrupt them. So the question that remains is how can they afford to make those scrolls at that price?

Roll with the market. Just after Open Beta, someone posted in a prominent post on these forums that scrolls were the best way to make money. In the 2 weeks after that, scroll prices plummeted, because so many people were making them. When the cash shop opened, Stone Prices skyrocketed because suddenly so many people wanted to use stones to enhance (as was previously mentioned). Supply and demand causes ups and downs in the market. If Sign of Trace started getting dropped from zombies, you'd see T2 Pots drop in price. Having alternates that get you all the skills help you weather economic 'storms' and profit from changes.

Don't sell anything to an NPC that you could EASILY sell for 3x the amount to a player. For example, Torn Leather sells for 3c to an NPC (IIRC). You can sell Torn Leather to a player for 10c, EASILY. Would you rather have 150c instantly, or 500c in a few mins (for a stack)? Your answer to that question tells me whether you have money problems or not. On the other side, you will rarely sell Crushed Bone for 10c, so that gets NPC'd.

All of this to say: no one skill is better than another. A savvy player willing to put out some effort can make any of the skills work for him. It just takes some patience--which, incidentally, explains why so many people in this game have no money. :D
