Sort of, the Disciple is a branch class, meaning it leaves any skills it had learnt before hand. For example the Acolyte looses Minor Heal, Blessing, Spirit, Illusion Quake, Fist up, Anti buffd all other spells and upgrades it learnt up to level 45 when turning Disciple.

While, if you turn into a Cleric on level 66 you keep all spells you learnt as an Acolyte.

Strider is a disicple, high level, and yes they are sort of holy warriors. They get a heal over time move and other standards, including AoE.(It multi-hits with crits from what I have heard)

It's the first in the line of the old-time Rogue-class.

Raphaell

so you train rouge to become a neophyte then you become an archer?

No, you train your Neophyte to become either a Scout(Which is archer in closed beta) at level 45, or a Rogue(Which was Neophyte in Closed Beta. Rogue took Assassin's place in open beta, where the Assassin now takes the next tier instead) at level 66.

To confuse you less:

Class name changes:

Fighter’s Guild

Class Level 1: Squire
Class Level 2: Knight
Class Level 3: Warrior
Class Level 4: Warlord

Mage’s Guild

Class Level 1: Apprentice
Class Level 2: Mage
Class Level 3: Wizard
Class Level 4: Archmage

Rogue’s Guild

Class Level 1: Neophyte
Class Level 2: Rogue
Class Level 3: Assassin
Class Level 4: Shadow Master

Acolyte’s Guild

Class Level 1: Acolyte
Class Level 2: Cleric
Class Level 3: Priest
Class Level 4: Paladin

Archer’s Guild

Class Level 1: Scout
Class Level 2: Archer
Class Level 3: Ranger

Templar’s Guild

Class Level 1: Disciple

It happens a lot when they don't inform enough about the changes between Closed beta and Open beta for new players. ^_^'

From a theoretical point of view, Disciples and Scouts can also be considered a powered up first job, as they are the beginning of a class path in their own right, so personally I like to think of them as some kind of 1.5 jobs (more powerfull that the first four, but less powerfull that the second tiers).

But yeah, in concrete, only four base classes:

-The physical squires (knight/tank type class)
-The agile neophytes (the thief/stealth type class)
-The magical apprentices (the wizard/magic type class)
-The healing acolytes (supporting/healing type class)

Basically, the most standard mmorpg classes you could see.
