This will be your guide to setting up an auction on the forums. If everyone's reads and uses this information it will create a clear-cut way of dealing with item's being auction on the forums.
-----Why should I put my item up for auction?
Creating an auction format that allows people to bid on a given item will draw more interest then a fixed price item, it could also net you more then what you wanted from the item due to bid wars.
-----Auction Title's
Adding these pre-requisites in your forum title will announce what type of auction you are holding.
[A] AUCTION - Your holding an auction.
[NM] NO-MINIMUM - Your auction has no minimum bid.
[FM] FIXED-MINIMUM - Your auction has a fixed minimum bid.
=Example=
[A][NM] CG + 9 Wand
This states that your holding a no minimum auction for a CG + 9 wand.
-----Why should I do NM or FM
--Holding a no minimum bid auction will almost guarantee your item will be sold, the only downfall is you do not know how much it will sell for. It very well could go for 1s, when you were hoping for 50s. Hold these auction's at your own risk, and please do not back out on an auction that you've created and let it run it's course.
--Holding a fixed minimum bid auction will guarantee your item will sell at a minimum price, but if that minimum price is to high, you very well might not get any bidders.
-----What Time-Zone should we use?
We should all be basing our auction off server-time, which is PST.
-----Setting Incremental Bids
Using this will allow you to make sure bid's aren't being raised by 1 copper. Setting something like a 25s increment will make bidder's raise 25s above the last person's bid.
-----What Information should I put in the 1st Post
Status of Auction (OPEN/CLOSED)
1. Your In-Game Name
2. Type of Auction (No Min/Min)
3. Highest Bidder's Name
4. Highest Bidder's Bid
(Optional) Runner Up Name/Bid
5. Minimum Bid or Increment Amount Required
6. When the Auction Ends (Use PST Time-zone)
Place Date and Time. I.E. - January 22nd, 5 P.M.
Last but not least, the item(s) your are auctioning off. If you are using multiple items make sure each item has a High Bidder entry in the top of the post.
Giving Detail about the Item's you are selling is a very specific thing, the easiest way to show people what you are selling is to take a picture of the item, if you are unable or unwilling to do this, please post EVERYTHING you can within the item's description.
If you would like me to add to this post or make suggestions or comments please don't hold-back.
