That's happening to me as well! It happens like once every 5-10 seconds now, (starting today) and I can't do anything!
What's going on? Will it work if I close all other programs that are running? (I never had to do that before)

People? If I may say something? It might help the debuggers to let them know your computer's stats. You know, like cpu power and stuff. It just might let them know what to narrow down their debugging search to. (I have already posted a ...well, post for this purpose.)

I can't figure out how to get this lab computer to give a dxdiag, but i'll post other details:
I'm using windows xp
The error occurred next to Smith James. I thought he had a quest ready marker, but he didn't have the egg above his head. Looking at the map in the few seconds before crash doesn't show the quest marker, so I may have been wrong.
Edit: and in case it matters, I'm running the game in US.

(coipied from a different post reporting the same problem)
I've figured out the problem
There is an area in Roumen approximately from the title merchant to the stairs past the smith. Stay in that area for any period of time and the game crashes. Stay out of this area, and no crashies :) Notice the lack of shops in this usually very crowded area?
I've reported this bug previously, but before it was isolated to standing on top of the sewer across from the smith. Let's hope this isn't spreading.

Wish it were only in those areas but I have gotten the message and tossed out in several places in Roumen. Here are other post about this prob.

It's happening in Elderin too. Luckily for me it only happens on my mule account not on my main char account. I don't know why. o_O
I'm glad though that my 48 cleric still works fine. ^_^

Ok people, Listen up. The problem is in Roumen near the Smith. Too many shops there. I have the same problem you all do, only when I am near the smith. Everywhere else works just fine. So limit your time there or maybe the debuggers can fix it so that area cannot contain so many objects. (just a thought) Good hunting and have fun. :D   :D

(Removed the font changes and smileys that AncientDragon used since they are annoying. -_-)
Sadly you are mistaken. It is happening in Elderin. It is happening in other places of Roumen besides the smith. And it is not happening to ALL players that go near the Roumen smith area.
Please read my post above yours and the following post of mine I will quote from another thread.
There's something a bit weird about this buffer overun error.
I have access to two accounts... my main one which I almost always use never gets this error. The second account which I only use when I'm bored of playing my regular chars or when I want to afk shop however almost constantly gets the buffer overun error.
Today the weirdest thing of all happened. I decided to login both accounts at once to transfer items from one to the other. My main account which was like 1-2 steps away from the secondary one still did not get the buffer error. The secondary constantly got it and had to restart. Getting a bit aggravated I logged off my main account and logged into the secondary from the same application then logged into my main account with the machine I normally only use to login the 'mule'. Secondary still crashed with the error while the main still did not get the error. Next I tried only having the secondary logged in. Still got the errors. Next I tried only having the main logged in. Still did not get the errors.
This tells me the buffer overrun bug issue is NOT character location since both chars were in same place during some of this experience, it is NOT my computer since my main account works fine on whichever I use but my secondary gets the error constantly whichever I use, and it is NOT the bots although they may very well be contributing to it.
The bug is almost definitely being caused by the account database server-side having some of its accounts become messed up when the new server was being added. I feel this way since it has become abundantly obvious that 1 account gets the error but the other doesn't.

I can't even go passed the smith without this happening to me... No matter what character I'm on.
So if I have to go some where and to get there I have to walk through Roumen... Well... I have to port to Eldrine and walk the long way. This is really, really beyond frustrating.
