View Full Version : Forum Access Weirdness

Certain threads in the forum seem to randomly restrict viewing access from time-to-time. Here's a perfect example: The announcement on the website's front page back before CBT2 begun, giving details on the date etc that CBT2 would start... sometimes I could view it, but other days it would tell me "you do not have authorization to view this", even when I was logged in. The thread would also be completely missing from the Announcement section, even though it was still visible on the front page of the website and older announcements still existed there. The link could be followed from the website to the forum, but I'd be given the 'unauthorized' error once I viewed the thread.
Now, the bugs forum re-appeared for me earlier, so I thought it'd been opened up again for CBT2 people to post new bugs. But just now, I've gone back there, and all of the collection threads plus the Bug Hunt Event thread are gone. If I try to view them via a URL, I'm told I "do not have authorization".
The Bug Reporting section itself is there, but all of those sticky threads are not... just like what happened to the CBT2 announcement.
What's up with this? Why do they keep vanishing and then coming back later??

Er... I'm not saying that, at all. I'm actually quite satisfied with the game, having had no download or install problems. The GMs are helpful and friendly, and there's lots of information here if you need help. What is the problem you're experiencing, maybe I can help you out somehow?
This forum issue is just a minor annoyance, nothing more. I figured I would report it because nobody else has.

I still can't see any of the Bug Collection threads or the Bug Hunting Event thread. Is this normal? Can anyone else see them, or are they gone??

I get the same messege that you got "you are not authorized to view this ",ect., when i tried to access the bug report section of the CBT forum. How can we report bugs if we can't access the appropiate page?

I guess it's normal, considering days of GM activity in this area of the forum, and not a single reply about this problem. :P
What I find weird is, they re-appeared one day a couple of weeks back. I even managed to post another bug to the Bug Hunt Event thread.
Then they were gone again.

Hi Moogie and Melody13,
Sorry for the delay in response. Most of us here wear many hats, and have been fairly occupied with a variety of tasks.
As far as I can tell, your account looks fine re: it's permissions and so on from here.
What browser are you using to access the site with? We'll try to track down why some of you are having this issue with viewing the forums.

Firefox 2.0.0.6
Does this mean the majority of players can see and post in the bug collection threads? Have there been many new posts in them this past week?
Sorry for the impatience, I know you're all very busy, but it seems kind of unfair; a problem that throws a whole game competition out of balance shouldn't be a low priority to get fixed, IMO. Can you imagine the amount of unique new bugs to get reported in the space of 2+ weeks where the rest of us can't post there?

Hi again Moogie,
The Bug reporting forum has had 73 new posts in the last 24 hours. Naturally, we'd like yo to be able to post there too!
Try checking in Firefox that it "sees" your Outspark cookies OK.
In Firefox, Tools>Options>Privacy>Show Cookies...look for the Outpsark folder and check it. I count 6 files in mine.

Yup, I have six there too. But I don't think the problem is my browser. Internet Explorer sees the same thing- the bug reporting area just has all the new threads created by players, none of the collection threads or the Event sticky.
If it was a local problem with cached files, I would be able to see them, because those were visible the first time I viewed the forums. They were also visible for a few short periods of time before the opening of CBT2, and immediately after it's opening (I managed to post a bug in the Event thread before it disappeared again).
I can't think why my account here would be a special case; and I'm thinking, for the couple of people who have chimed in saying they've got this same problem, there's probably a lot more who don't even realise anything's wrong.
Thanks for looking into it for us. I hope it gets sorted soon. :]*
