What exactly is a Neophyte?

Hey all, this may sound like the stupidest question known to man, but...what exactly is a neophyte? I've done some searching in the forums, but I haven't gotten a clear answer. All I know is that I need to become one to become an archer.
So I guess my other question is how do I become a neophyte so I can become an archer? Thank you so much for your help!!

to become a neophyte go talk to Reinmoth in the Arcannius Square (she's above the Soltisce Guide) and then you have to collect 4 parts of the Jueah's Pendant thingy ( 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4) and then you talk to her again turn them in andd choose which class you wanna be. You can do this at lvl 16 by the way...
As far as where you find these pendant pieces I know that killing the blue poku gives 4/4 and killing the orange you gives you 2/4 and then a purple slime gave me 3/4 but someone gave me the 1/4 so im not sure where u find it.
