Nope, that's not true anymore.
The only expensive things are the Soul Stone Fragments, and the Xen stone. All of which you can get with a little bit of patience. :)

I was thinking about the randomness of the pet quest and thought, "What happens if u lie when u answer the questions?" Strange I know but there may be a line in the code for the quest that monitors what you actually do and then distributes points based on whether or not you were telling the truth. Once again, just a thought. Please don't rebutt me by simply yelling that it's random. I don't respond well to yelling. You have been warned.

It means after you answer the questions in the final step, you lose the music box. Meaning it dissapears from your inventory. Same with the incubator once your egg hatches after the 4 hour cooldown.

You have to un-equip the incubator if you're wearing it. Then you click on Enhance when you talk to the blacksmith, then click on the Incubator to be refined and the pendant will appear at the bottom, to be used to refine the Incubator.

If you're still having trouble then you either have the wrong pendant, or on the wrong step, or just plainly doing something wrong. Hope you figure it out~

EDIT: ^To answer your question korc0002 - You have to collect 50 soul stone fragments - they are located in mythril mines - and you need 50. The soul stone pieces are just random drops in a bunch of maps and you can use them for some other quests. But for the pet quest you need the fragments.

And to elelct2 -- I seemed to find leather in the mornings in lavy basin - from krapuns (spelling) But around noon it stopped dropping for me as often it seemed. But thats where I got my leather :)

Morning does seem to work best, don't know why. Also I notice that it seems to drop best before level 50. For awhile it was dropping from holloween bears too, I think. The krapuns can also drop wood and firewood. Hawgs drop wood and leather also I believe.

Did u talk to the blacksmith, and open quest list and click pet quest?

I am also having problems with this step - I believe it is step 19. I have un-equipped my incubator, and I have 1 4/4 Pendant in my inventory. I click on quest list, and go to the pet one and this is what happens..

My pendant does not go to the bottom part of the box to enhance. And, when I read through what he says to me, it seems as though I need all 4 pieces? Is this true?

EDIT: I figured it out lol - I just have no experience enhancing things, and didn't realize I had to double click the incubator into the slot and then the pendant appeared in the bottom!! Dumb mistake :) Oh well..

No theres no set amount of time on any of the steps except when you have to run through the sewers, and mines. Those 2 steps you have 10 min and you will see a timer where your buffs appear. Hope that helps!

I just thought i would add a recomendaiton for getting butter. Do the quest THE REQUEST OF THE GROCERY MAN 2/4 Then kill some Giant Poyo. They drop alot of butter

The incubator gives you +1 defense until you enhance it. When you enhance to incubator a with the 4/4 pendant it gives you +2. When you enhance to incubator b with the xen it gives +3. It goes in any accessory slot. You lose the incubator when the egg hatches. You have to repeat the entire quest if you want another advanced pet.

Question: There are 2-3 types of ssf, some drop from quest in Luan Basin, some from both mines. My question is do all work?

Ok advice:

Gather butter and cheeze early 20's -early 30's from grocery and Jerkin quest farily quick drops Augilas Gorge. Do not use xp enhancements, now cheeze will drop with picture on top from the Big (whatever the toads name is) as soon as you get all 15 tangereens.

Now my secret holloween bears drop leather 1 in 10-30 time or so it your doing another quest to kill them (like gathering training stones or glittering pieces) now best are ones hidding in the trees. If you see parties or more than one other farmer change toons till your more alone. After you get two leather, log out of the game after storing them in hotel, and do it again, yes takes up to a week again 2x-4x, farmer toons, easy to make and keep going if your using SC. In Mystra Hills, now you can get some a map or two away, but at 1/10 the odds, from Hawks (bails of straw) after 4x the devil fairies for "dust" and kill the Hawks for wood/firewood/rare leather drops (oh strawberrys drop here too same with white paint and an occasional alow Shaio Forest.

OMG! the same thing happened to me too and on my very first (and till now only) eggy quest. I was totaly heart broken. After all that farming and buying of items (which was very hard for me at the time since i was a totaly broke app ) then all the w8ing for cooldowns and running all over SoS to do the eggys requests....Fatty.... =,= I was soooo misrable.. all my dreams were crushed. ( I have always wanted a Monkey, atleast till I found out i couldn't have a Panga :p )
I was about to deleat the thing when my guild mate said she realy realy wanted it. We were in a party together so I just dumpd the Fatty on her. She was totaly in shock for a bit, then offered to buy it. Of course i said no, then she offered to help collect for next pet. Again i refused, stateing i didn't have the heart to go through all of the trouble just to get something stupid again.
Then all of a suddon, while i was sitting there moping over the affair, a pet apeared in my inventory. A beautiful Seahorsy!!! :eek: Her bf, another guild mate and also in the party, had dropped his pet on me. I was totaly stunned!
I have since told this story a few times in the game. It bears to be repeated here so that everyone can see it...To this day i still have that Horsy. I put it with my scout since they do seem to go together well :D I shall never sell it...EVER!!! So don't bother asking :p It's one of the most special of pets in the whole universe!!!

Delete the quest from your quest window, then talk to your egg again. It should restart the step.

The same thing is happening to me, and a lot of other people. It's been bugged ever since the housing update. There's currently a thread about it in the Bug Report section of the forums...hopefully this is fixed soon. All we can do is let them know about the problem and then be patient :/

the answer is: u dont lose it.
this enhancing isnt like mounts or wings actualy its exactly like xenning so u cant add any sc for better chances of sucess but if u fail u dont lose the incubator only the pendant or the xen depending what step u doing :)

inogen23 there is a map on the Solstice Player forum (a fansite) but I don't know the link off the top of my head. I believe you can just restart the quest again and try over. Also, if I'm not mistaken you are always dropped by the second floor entrance, I don't know if that helps you any, but I hope it helps somewhat! Good luck.

If u talk to Jarika after getting the egg, you wont be able proceed. Talk to Jarika again but choose "ignore". This will reset the condition for talking to the egg. You do not have to repeat the whole quest.

It's too long if you ask me. Especially back when pets had nothing else to do but look pretty while following you.

They should shorten the cooldowns to 2 hours... Lots of people stay up late to do these steps. It interferes with your sleep and therefore your health. O.o Outspark should have a warning label on that quest >.>

OKAY, Im having trouble with the mine part. I didnt make it out in time and both guards tell me to try again, but the timer doesnt restart. Also when I click on the egg it says to hurry we only have 10 minutes but my timer ran out a long time ago. I'm trying to figure out how to redo it but its not warping me back in. Is this a glitch? Can anyone help?

Only, Mogras are from the event "Wack-A-Mogras" or whatever.
Peanuts are outside in the field.

It's COMPLETELY random.
There are times where you guess what pet you have and you get the pet.
But that's a matter of luck.

go to your Quest list and delete the mine dash quest, then talk to the egg again to redo the mine dash quest.

Edit: Finished the quest, did both "Escape the Sewers/Mines" parts by tracking next to guard then warping out~ It worked well for me, since I died once trying to manually escape mines x.x

I can't say for certain, but I was told that they would all disappear.

I was told you lose all incubators that are not equipped, so equip the 3 you need for defense when hatching. I could still be wrong tho.

So my question is: Can you get to step 5 in pet quest, and then immediately xen it after you delete pet quest and egg and you'd get an Incubator B, or do you have to go to the step where you HAVE to xen it into Incubator B and then xen it and get the annoying 3def?

Really confused here. Dx and the incubators disappear when you hatch the downright bossy and demanding egg... .-. so..

From my experience, if u have 4 incubator b's and u only hatch one egg, u will only losse one icubator not all.

I know it takes some time to get all over pet quest. I think it can b done but this way, u probably will not have any possibility to hatch the egg from it. So u r just wasting at least 20 leathers, 10 wood, 50 ssf, one xen if lucky to get the 3 def. It's harder n longer do the entire pet quest but, if u get tired of the incubs, if for instance someone gifts u a def3 pearl, you can allways hatch yourself a pet (around 70 xens worth).

Should I wait for the 4 hours, and see if the glitch will work itself out, or start over, since it's only the second step? And is there any way to talk to a GM and have them fix it or something? Please help me, I've waited long to take this quest, and it starts glitching the first time I do it, and I just really want it fixed. Thanks.

If you are seeing another timer you have to wait until that timer is over. I believe that happens in the beginning of the quest. A little confusing. My 1st pet I did the quest over again and ended up with two tickets confusing myself lol. Always wait for the timer to expire and talk to your egg.

Thank you for the help. Not to seem that I'm complaining a lot, but I do think my quest is getting messed up. I waited the time, and finally I was able to talk to Diana. Need 30 butters. I go to the place everybody says theres tons of butter, Mystra Basin. I do not know whether this is a glitch in the quest or not, but I've fought for 20 min straight killing monsters, and hardly anything drops from them, definitly not butter. Whether that's just bad luck or lack of drops, I'm just curious. My friends say it's unnatural for nothing to drop, and so I thought I would get it checked out. Without monsters dropping items, it's hard to move along with the quest, and buying butter is very expensive... I'm sorry, I must sound like a whiner. But I want to see if this can get fixed, because like I said, I've been going really hard to get to lvl 35, to do this one quest, and now it's glitching. If there's any help you can give, please help me. Thank you very much. ^^

No it's not possible. If you talk to jarika while already having the pq active the quest gets reset somehow to the step where u have to collect 20aloes. So if you have an active pet quest only talk to jarika when the egg asks for it.

You will have to start over nothing you can do, at the Aloe step. HOWEVER I think you can use your old incubator that you already have so you don't have to make a new one.

If I understand you right nothing happens when you click on the Eir Guild Agent?

Completely close down SoS and start it back up and try it again. If that doesn't work try right clicking and changing the angel of your camera a bit. Next piece of advice I have if that still doesn't do anything is to reboot your computer, check your connection to be sure it's secure and good, and then try.

Oh well, guess you contracted one of the many postupdate glitches that exist. Last one I had made everyone invisible. Nothing to do but either reinstall or do what I do. Restore the most recent preupdate version of the Outspark folder, if your OS allows.

I get that error too, although usually its just on the one character im using at the time it messes up. I cant move, enter messages in chat box, or pretty much click anything. Npcs wont respond and stuff. Yours might be slightly different, but i suggest reinstalling. Its what i have to do everytime.

What is a good level to be at before you try the mythril mine dash? Right now, I'm a lvl 47 aco.

Level 35 if you just track outside the mines and use a warp scroll as soon as you enter through the egg's warp. If however you don't want to track and actuallly urn it either do it when you have over 160 defense(hard for an aco) or when they stop aggrowing you as much(lvl 70+) You also have the option of enlisting the help of people aoeing the mines at the time, or someone familar with the mines to help you out.
