How To Get Yourself A Pet - Step By Step

To put it simply, i will be writing down all the necesary steps needed to get yourself a pet (not poyos) Let's Begin!

1st Step: Find the Animal Encyclopedia

Be lvl 35 and talk to Jarika at Brynhild Trisects
Talk to the office attendant at the Essene Guild Center For The Animal Encyclopedia.
Wait 4 hours cooldown
Talk to the attendant again, she tells you that Diane has the book


2nd step: Get the Animal Encyclopedia

Talk to Diane at Essene Ball Park
Bring 30 Butter to Diane (They drop often at Mystra Hill and Mystra Basin)
Take the Animal Encyclopedia back to Jarika
Wait 4 hours cooldown


3rd Step: Get the egg / Feed the egg

Go back To Jarika to get An Egg
Double click on the egg to talk to it. It tells you that its hungry and wants 20 Aloe (They drop often at Luan Basin)
Talk to it again with the Aloe in your inventory to feed it.
Wait 4 hours cooldown


4th Step: Kill some monsters for the egg / Bond with it

Talk to the egg
Bring the egg to Death Valley
Talk to the egg
Wait 4 hours cooldown
Kill 30 Peanuts at Wavin Plains, east of Essene
Wait 4 hours cooldown
"Walk" the egg (just talk to it several times)
Wait 4 hours cooldown


5th Step: Making an Incubator for the egg

Gather 50 Soul Stone Fragments, 20 Leather, 5 Watermelons and 10 Wood* Give them to the Essene Enchanter inside the Magic Refinery to obtain an equipable Incubator
Wait 4 hours cooldown


6th Step: Educating the egg

Talk to the egg to receive Egg Shells
Talk to Green NPC at Candyvault to give her the Egg Shells in return for 30 Tangerines.
Wait 4 hours cooldown
Talk to the egg
Go to Brynhild General Item Store and buy an Adventurer Skill Book for 500 Kron
Talk to the egg again for it to read the book.
Wait 4 hours Cooldown


7th Step: Getting Medicine for the sick egg

Talk to the egg. It's sick and it needs medicine.
Go and talk to Mordine at the Acolyte Guild to get Cold Medicine
Go talk to the Pet Merchant to get the right dosage for your pet
Talk to your egg to give it the medicine.
Wait 4 hours Cooldown.


8th Step: Kill monsters and get a pet toy

Talk to the egg
Kill 30 Pigs (1 area south of Candyvault and several other areas)
Wait 4 hours cooldown
Talk to the egg
Take it to the pet merchant and listen to his words, he will give you a pet toy
Talk to your egg again
Wait 4 hours cooldown


9th Step: Feeding your egg

Talk to your egg
Feed it 25 Apples and 25 Grapes.
Wait 4 hours cooldown


10th Step: Cleaning the Incubator

Talk to your egg
Go and talk to Yozette at Summerhill Street
Talk to your egg again.
Wait 4 hours cooldown


11th step: Bonding with the Egg

talk to the egg, it says that it wants to go for a walk
go to Baskerville forest and talk to the egg again
4 hour cool down


12th step: making a music box

Talk to the egg
Talk to the crazy old man
Bring him **50 firewoods, 10 fairy powders, 10 image stones, and 1 1/4 pendant. Receive broken music box.
Go to the mage guild and talk to the guild leader to fix (charge) your music box.
Talk to the egg.
4 hour cool down.

13th step: More bonding

talk to the egg several times to help it learn to move up and down
4 hour cool down
talk to the egg, it wants another book.
go to the general store in bryn and talk to the shop guy, he's sold out of the book
go to cv and talk to the item store guy there to get the book
talk to the egg again
4 hour cool down
talk to the egg
kill 30 star bears (I killed mine in luan basin)
talk to the egg again
4 hour cool down


14th Step: Heal the egg's Crack

Talk to the egg and receive egg shells
Go to cv and talk to Green to exchange shells for 30 tangerines.
4 hour cool down (egg now has a crack in it)
Talk to the egg, it complains that the crack hurts
Go to the Rogue's guild and talk to Raymond to receive a Careband box
Talk to the egg again to use the careband
4 hour cool down

15th Step: 10 Minute Sewer Dash

Talk to the egg
Talk to it again to be transported inside the sewers (you have 10 minutes to escape)
Talk to Lazie when you find your way out, you also receive some small pots
4 hour cool down

16th Step: Walking the Egg

Talk to the egg, it wants to go for a walk
Take it to Limus Basin (east of essene)
Once you arrive, talk to it again
4 hour cool down

17th Step: Play with the Egg

Talk to the egg, it misses Jarika
Talk to Jarika to receive pet toy
Talk to the egg
4 hour cool down (egg is now orange)


18th Step: Cure the egg's sunburn

Talk to the egg, its sunburned
Talk to the ***Alchemist inside the Essene Magic Refinery and
give him 10 fairy powders, 15 salts, and 5 white paints**** to get one "White Powder" item
Talk to the egg, egg is now green
4 hour cool down


19th Step: Refine the Incubator

Talk to the egg, it complains about being too hot
Talk to the essene enchanter inside the Magic Refinery, he says you need to refine the incubator to make it bigger
Take 1 4/4 pendant to the blacksmith to improve the incubator (its now called incubator A) (the refining can fail)
Talk to the egg
4 hour cool down


20th Step: Feed The Egg

Egg is hungry, feed it 30 cheeses
4 hour cool down


21st Step: Egg wants more music

Talk to the crazy old man in essene, he needs a notepad
Go to the guild office's second floor and talk to the guild agent to get the notepad
Talk to the crazy old man to get "music box duo"
Talk to the egg
4 hour cool down

22nd Step: Teach the Egg to move

Talk to the egg a few times
4 hour cool down
Fight 10 fire fairies (Harquil plains)
Talk to the egg
4 hour cool down


23rd Step: Help the egg turn red

The egg sheds its shell again, talk to Green NPC in Candyvault to get 10 lemon balms
4 hour cool down
Egg wants to be a different colour
Take 30 strawberries to the hotel manager in brynhild to get Red Dye
Talk to the egg to dye it red
4 hour cool down


24th Step: Egg wants a bath and a book

Buy soap from the general store merchant in essene
Take the egg to the pool in Candyvault and talk to it
4 hour cool down
Buy a book from the general item store in brynhild then talk to egg
4 hour cool down


25th Step: 10 minute Mythril Mine Dash

Talk to the egg it wants to go inside the mines
Talk to it again to get warped inside
escape the mines and talk to the North gate guard within 10 minutes (you get 20 hp pots)
4 hour cool down


26th Step: The egg is sick again

Talk to the acolyte guild leader Mordine, he says you can cure the egg by heating it up
Go talk to the brynhild blacksmith, he says that you have to hold the egg down while its being heated. He also says not to move. (I'm not exactly sure what that means, I think you just have to stay in the shop)
Wait one minute (you can see the timer)
Talk to the egg, its feeling better!
4 hour cool down


27th Step: Feeding the egg

Feed the egg 30 corn
4 hour cool down


28th Step: Egg wants to go for a walk

Take the egg for a walk to Urail valley
Talk to the egg
4 hour cool down


29th Step: Egg says it can't breathe

Talk to the enchanter, he tells you that you have to enhance your incubator
Take the incubator + 1 xen stone to the brynhild blacksmith to get it enhanced (just like with a weapon) Warning - the Xen can fail
Talk to the egg
4 hour cool down


30th Step: Egg wants you to fight more monsters

Kill 10 sould balls (beltranin forest and urail valey)
Talk to the egg
4 hour cool down


31st Step: Egg says it wants perfume

Go to the brynhild general item store to ask about it
Go to the mage guild and talk to Leadman to get the perfume
Talk to egg
4 hour cool down


32nd Step: Teach egg to move

Just talk to it a few times
4 hour cool down


33rd Step: Egg shed its shell

Take the shell to Green in Candyvault, you get 30 lemon balms
4 hour cool down


34th Step: Egg wants another book

Go to the brynhild general item store to buy one
Talk to egg
4 hour cool down


35th Step: Egg wants another song

Talk to the crazy old man in essene, he needs ink
Talk to the armor merchant in the armory to get ink
Talk to the crazy old man again (music box duo turns into music box trio)
Talk to the egg
4 hour cool down


36th Step: Egg has some questions

1. Do you think red looks good on me, or do you like my old colour? (like red / old colour)
2. While I was sleeping, what were you doing? (adventuring / sleeping)
3. If you equip the incubator something good happens. Did you equip it? (favorite item / didn't like it)
4. Will you be disappointed in me, no matter what I become? (of course not! / depends)
pick up mysterious egg (hatching)
lose music box
4 hour cool down
Important: After the 4 hour cool down, you have to unequip your incubator for you to be able to double click your egg so it can hatch.

After you take it to Death Valley, use the egg again, it will then have another 4hour cool down.

WARNING!!!
1. There have been reports that if you talk To Jarika during any part of the pet quest after obtaining your egg, he somehow resets your egg or something and you'll have to re-do the quest all over again....So be careful, Never talk to Jarika after you get your egg unless you have to.

2. When upgrading the Incubator, if you use a Xen Stone it will become Incubator B, If you do this mistake at the part of the quest where you have to create the Incubator A (enhancing with Jureah pendant instead of Xen Stone) Your egg will be unable to get into the incubator and you will be unable to continue the quest....So you will have to re-do the quest all over again. Please be careful. Edit: This issue has been fixed by the GM's

Tips:
*Soul Stone Fragments drops from monsters of Level 1 and Level 2 of Mythril Mines. Leather and Wood are from Colrona forest, Luan Basin and several other places where Halloween MoonBears/StearBears, Hawgs, Krapuns live. Watermelons are uncommon drops level 30-40 monsters. Monsters from Mystra Basin all the way to Shaio Forest are confirmed to drop them.

**Firewood are confirmed to drop from Hawgs, Krapuns and Halloween MoonBears but the drop rate is very low. Gurons north of Essene are confirmed to have a higher drop rate. Fairy Powders are from Devil Fairies at Shaio Forest, Image Stone are from monsters at level 1 of Mythril Mine. Edit: An easier way to get Firewood has been confirmed. Talk to the Blacksmith at Summerhill Street and get the level 19 firewood quest from him. Manner rabbits will start dropping Firewood at a 90% chance no matter what level your character is. After every 10 firewood they stop dropping them, you have to store them in your hotel to make them drop again. You'll have to do this for every 10 firewood you collect. Edit 2: I just got word Toadmelters drop firewood like the rabbits do

***Warning - the alchemist makes NO sense. Just keep clicking on the first button and you eventually get what you want.

****Fairy Powder are from Devil Fairies at Shaio Forest, Salts drop frequently from monsters at Mystra Basin, White Paint drops Frequently at Mystra Basin

13th Step: Kil weak monsters.(Take out a couple in Death Valley)
14th Step: Go to Wavin Plains east of Essene and kill 30 Peanuts. A counter counting down from 30 appears on the right
15th Step: Talk to the egg again to wait 4 more hours.

Edit: Just talk the egg when you arrive in DV and talk to it to make it sleep for 4 more hours.

Have to clarify the last part in the 11th step, because when I look at my post it sounds dodgy: You only need to talk the Egg in DV. When the cooldown is over you talk to it again. The egg asks you to kill a couple of weak monsters before asking you to take out the rodent called peanut.

He isn't obvious - rather he's a bit off the path/screen if you were to run straight down the 3 sections of the hill in Brynhild Trisects.

The directions I give folks:

Walk 20+ steps southwest from the northern entrance (the entrance to/from Arcarinus Square).

They're not rare. o.o; I got TONS of them when I solo'ed at Belteranin Forest, and quite a few now that I train at Bailey Plains.

Well, I suppose if you were level 4x-, then it'd be harder. :X

even tho the soul stone is pieces (from most maps) not fragment (from mythril mine). the drop rate of leather and wood is very very low, 1 hour and i only got 1 leather

this quest will cost ALOT of kron and/or time to do

v.v the best thing to do is get the stuff first and since butter and soulstones are in demand now it will be extremely expensive v.v
it would take about a month or so for a normal person to get these stuff
and alot of partying :/

The egg dies AFTER you complete a step where you have to feed it. Right now im not exactly sure if it really does die....i'll have to ask mush again.

Important Update: Ok guys and girl i added a Rumour section to the thread. There are dozens of rumours flying around and everyone is in a panic and wants to know for sure what drops what and where.

Keep an eye on the rumour section as i will be labeling them True or False when i get 100% correct info.

It's true that Krapun drops both wood and leather but i don't know if you need to have the quest for them to drop....

Well i asked around and found out people not even doing the quest dropped these items too. Looks like they were implemented in the last update when the pet quest was implemented. Dunno if that's true but if you think about it, it makes a lot of sense.

I never accidently sold my pet.
It starved during the Aloe step, so it asked me to give it 20 aloe again before
i could succesfully start the next 4 hr timer.
I never ever sold my pet because my original egg is still in my inventory.
It just required more Aloe because i waited to long to start the next step.
I would let it starve again, but my bankroll prohibits that. Sorry i cant supply you with anymore convincing proof.

Why does the quest take a 180 going from a lvl3X quest to you need to be a high lvl to finish the quest? I mean, mines are impossible to do even with a few acos at the low levels that the items you need drop for the first parts, its stupid in my opinion.

I agree with TKhaos. The quest items needed make it so that it's impossible for high leveled (getting butter from monsters that are too low a level to drop items for them anymore) and low leveled people (Soul stone fragments? Yeah, right) to aquire them without buying from other people. And of course the demand is super high now so everything is way over priced.

That and the drop rate for items seems to be very low. I know I've tried for only few hours already (compared to others that's a small amount), but I have not had leather or wood drop for me once. Something like at least 1 drop per hour would be preferrable to what I've gotten so far.

So far this is pretty dissapointing.

Ok, everyone who started this Quest Knows that this is INSANE, FIREWOOD is technically a 0.000001% Probability drop item, LEATHER and WOOD are less Rare but Still very hard to get...Seeing the Next Steps after the the SOUL FRAGMENTS, They are far More Easy, i had Put those before the Soul Fragment, at last the fruits get Dropped More often than a Litle leather Square or a Piece of Wood

im afraid i have to agree, whoever made this quest smokes crack daily...the things needed for the latter end of the quest only drop on newbie monsters making it impossible for a person who could possibly get the fragments from the lvl 50+ ubers that drop them because the monsters dropping "apples" and the likes, will not drop for those level characters any more. The intent to force kron into the newbie economy is a failure because before paying a noobie you have to play a noobie, and thats not good for the game, or you could play the noobie game where they try and act like thier butter is worth armor and weapons and the likes...you guys that write this stuff need to lay off the pipe man and stay in school

hmmm...it seems in the Japanese version, there's only a 1 hour break time between each step. And according to that babelfish translated page, there's 41 1-hour breaks b4 the pet hatches.

IF all steps are the same, but all breaks are 4 hours instead of 1, that's 164 hours of break time. :(

Even if you colllected all the items u need, it would take 7 days to hatch if you completed each step as soon as possible. Seems kinda retarded to me :rolleyes:

I dont go very much to the mines cause I want to lvl up faster, but the last 2 times I went I got a total of 3 o 4 fragments and I didnt stay THAT long...
I'm lvl 54 and I was at first floor of the mines.

Whoooa there overachiever! You don't need to be killing Hou**** to get the fragments - they drop from the monsters on level 1. It's a rare drop, yea, (I tend to get maybe 2-3 an hour of solo killing at lvl 54). But it's not a complete waste of time, because other rare stuff that I can sell drops, like: training stones, image stones, guard's pieces, solid fuel, and +2 items (did I miss anything?).

But yea, it's a rare drop, and yea, 50 is too many :-/

There wouldn't really be any point in seeing him until you reach that lvl. You can attempt to talk to him and see what he says ;)

Ummmm...i have no idea what you said, can you explain al ittle better please? If you're asking wheter people finished Step 17 yet...then no, 50 Soul Stone Fragments will take several weeks to get. so we have yet to see someone pass it.

Nixxie and Kinoe found all those soul frags and they were just showing that they are out there. They are not trying to sell them thats why the high price.

Update: Added pic of Ferria with her new Fairy pet that was given to her as a gift from one of the GM's.

New Info: I asked her some questions, she said you equip it the same way as you equip Poyos so it doesn't take up an equipment slot.

For now the new pets do absolutly nothing, they're not programmed to fight or give stats YET, but Ferria said they will be programed very soon in one of the patches.

The monster thats called pig... hard to give more detail then that it looks like a pig and its called pig.

I killed mine south of Candyvault in Berdana forest. I think they can be found in other maps though, and i didnt try to see if Lipig counted as Pig but Lipig which can be found in Luan basin i think looks the same as Pig. but i wouldnt bother trying when Pig is freely accessable in Berdana.

Thank you im glad im not wasting my time =] Because i just wasted a lot of it....

Update: Wasted 2 hours taking screenshots, uploading pictures and adding new links to the 1st post only to find out a post has a 10,000 character limit so i have to take out all the unneccesary links for 1 post to hopefully contain all of the steps required to complete the quest.

I will only include important links to avoid confusion, such as location to uncommon areas like Wavin Plains.

Edit: It just hit me that there's 5000+ characters in my first post...that's a lot of typing and stuff ~.~

Hey Nero, maybe when the main post becomes full u can make a new topic (a copy of this one) but making a double or a triple post (on purpose) to have enough space for the nexts steps (like sijar AKA Zeltar made on the quest guide topic)

Maybe i can convince Nameless to delete his post since he is 2nd post and im right under him 0.o we'll see when that day comes XD im gonna try fitting all of it into one post but it will be hard because Xenepic has 80+ steps ~.~

It does look smart but i so preferred how the steps were before. So much easier.

In the steps it says you have to kill 30 (one screen south of Candyvault). I believe it's supposed to say pigs there?

It's part of the Xenepic pet quest and so far our pet quest has been the same as theirs with a few tiny differences. So i bet we're gonna need firewood in the couple of steps to come.

Thank you for pointing that out, 2 hours of editing that post and i was sure i missed something, but i was too tired to notice at the time xD

Edit: Update: Fixed 30 pigs typo, removed another unneccesary link and updated the Credits section. Even though im not using the pictures they were provided to me, im still crediting the people for helping me get them when i actually did use them. You've all been a big help <3 And we're not finished with this quest yet!

kk, I dont wanna sound like S4k, or do I wanna sound like a selfish *******, but I am just gonna lay this out bcuz obviously some1 wants me done in now, even tho I gave them evrything I have, It stilll hasn't been enuff, and it never will. I have only been playing S0S these past weeks is bcuz Nixxie has kept me here. We deicded to work on the pet quest together. I went in mines for nearly 2 weeks collecting 100 frags for the both of us, eventually we both finished the quest. After that Nero asked me wat was the next step and to post pic and w/e, I told him to talk to Nixxie bcuz she was better with that suff, after that Nixxie kinda left me behind, I gave her 20 firewoods, 17 fairy powders, and 15 SS frags b4 I left, but I still turned out to be a total jerk so, I guess I am =/

Leather and wood drops mostly from Cyoren Forest outside of Brynhild or Felix forest North of CandyVault. They drop from Holloween Bears and Hawgs

There are 10 pets...there used to be a picture of them but i forgot where it is, 3 of them are in the 1st post of this thread. They fight monsters with you and give you stats, that's all we know for now.

You can't get a certain pet, when the egg hatches the pet is random....and they are not tradeable either...so in plain english....we're royally screwed. -_-
