Lately I noticed a rise in scammers. Most scams involve scrolls and weapon upgrades. First of all, I highly recommend players be a bit more precautious when it comes to trading/buying items from other players. Yes, it is illegal to scam players out of money or weapons, but it is also the responsibility of players to be on guard of such scams. If it looks too good to be true... it probably is. If you happen to find a scammer, please PM me or GM _Dakkon a screen shot with the item in question and any dialogue associated with this scam.
Thanks,
GM_SnakeEyes

Question. I have noticed that some people, especially around Roumen that offer to buy items for a far cheaper price than the NPC's offer, is this regarded as a scam, as they are actually praying on people that don't know the actual price of said items, or is it just tough love to the person that sells the items to them.

Nope. Its just tough luck =/ If they're honest about their price it isn't. But if they say they're buying something for 2s but the prices in the shop say 2c, thats a scam.

I just want to take a moment to highlight the above text. :)
This does not mean post your screenshots here. I know some players tend to get excited and charge in to right the wrong, and we all appreciate that in its fullest, but posting them here will do you little good.
If you have evidence of a scam or suspected scam, please send it via PM to GM_Dakkon or GM_SnakeEyes.
This has been a public service announcement

My apologies if this appears to be offensive, but I think now would be a good time for OutSpark to hire in-game "CLs", to better aid the innocent players and the GMs, who may be AFK ATM, when this sort of issue is present.
Jagex has done this with their MMO: distributing PMs across their servers, in efforts to mute perps, when they themselves (JMs) are not able to take needed action.
Just a suggestion.

the power might be abused.

the power might be abused.
Pick high level trusted people who have unwittingly been monitored for a set amount of time. Also, give them limited powers. Would gold sellers also count as scammers? They are scamming people out of having the joy of getting gold themselves.

We're slipping slightly off topic here.... let's try to keep it on the subject at hand. If you have a suggestion as to how you feel OutSpark can better manage these issues, please feel free to PM them to GM_SakeEyes or GM_Dakkon.
Thanks :D

Tip - High level players are less likely or NEVER be scammers. First of all, who is stupid enough to have a hard worked level 79 player and start scamming people when they have all the evidence? See what I mean? Thought so lol, but still be on alert on them.
Now if you see a level 1 player selling you a level 70 hammer, lol don't try to trust them. Report them if you want, but the scammer may have created a different account.

If you sell anything for less than it's worth at the NPC, it's your own fault. I say this only because when you're in someone's buy store and hover over any item in your inventory, the hover-information shows you exactly how much it sells to the NPC. Anyone offering 1c per item that sells for 5c to an NPC is relying on two types of people: 1) those who simply don't notice the NPC's buying price; 2) those who don't care or simply want to quickly get inventory room regardless of the price the items earn.
As for those who offer to buy items for such a low price, that's not scamming. I don't condone the practice by any means, and in fact dislike those who are constantly preying on those who don't know any better... but it's still not a scam, because you CAN see how much your items sell to the NPC. That makes it your fault, not theirs, if they are able to take advantage of you.

yes.. they would be considered scammers in a way... but not in the same way... bots, scammers, as well as powerleveling/gold services are all against the terms of service, therefore, illegal.... screen shots to a GM will get them all banned just the same... and untill the day when we do get in game players that can take care of these people without the GMs having to do it, it would help the players by making it more fun as well as the GMs by freeing up their time to do other things

It would have to be a little more extensive than that.
These people would also have to be monitored after the fact also.

My feeling is there are not enough GMs. i was scammed took screen shots jumped through all the hoops the GMs said i should. and the player is still active and nothing has been done about it. apart from the thread i made about it getting locked. apparently anything i decide to do on my own would be consited harrasment. ie. waring the Pinoy_Alliance every time he comes online and vender killing him. so im stuck either I my self can let it go. or abuse the game till they feel harrased into returning the stuff they took, however getting an answer from the GMs seems beyond the scope of the game.
Frankly im disappointed with the lack of help or response from the GMs.
I also do not think that the report button works as there are players who continue to scroll scam in elderine and have done so for weeks, these people have been reported to the GMs bu several people that i know and others im sure however noting is done.
the member who scammed me . = PureCaster04
the player who has been selling fake Vit02 learning scrolls for weeks now = A_qua
the thing i think is really funny is when i joined i joined up with a few people from another game. only to find one of them put in jail for no obvious reason two days in. he has since quit playing.
