What are those?
Can I get dried wood from the normal "woods"?

no the dried wood quest item will only drop from the wandering old tree monsters. they are in sand hill. sorry but i don't have the coordinates of the place i fought them at when i did the quest. i entered sand hill by the sea of greed gate then went to the right past the megatons, fighters etc across the bridge then left past captains and fighter and the wandering trees were there along with bats and spiders.
