What is the MHC?

The MHC is a guild designed for experienced players who enjoy slaying vile hordes of enemies and helping people to better enjoy the game. The guild also acts as a network of service-for-hire individuals to assist in various activities.

Why join the MHC?

If you are the kind of person who likes to endlessly kill monsters, travel through distant lands, and have a high degree of knowledge of gameplay, the MHC may be the guild for you. Unlike other guilds, the MHC does not offer access to powerful and free items or money, but rather the ideal of the guild is to allow one the best possible chances to grow stronger/improve upon the skills necessary to survive. Also, knowledge is power, and such is the foundation of the guild. Only those willing to learn and help spread their learned know-how to others are likely candidates.

Wait, no free stuff? And what do you mean "best possible chances...?"

Yes, the idea that you can join a group or guild to get free stuff defeats the purpose of the learning process. How can you say that you climbed a mountain, if you rode the ski lift? Or how can you admit you crossed the ocean, if you flew in a plane to the other side? Of course, the MHC is here to lend a hand to help you pull yourself up to the next ledge, and provide an island for you to recover your body for the rest of the swim. We are a guild of achievers, not dependents.

What would be the point of joining?

There is no greater merit to success than to be able to say that you did it yourself. However, some situations can prove to be tedious, and sometimes even tenuous... That's where the MHC comes in. For example, you are hunting for rare items, such as those awesome ap6 shoes that you're desperate to get a hold of, but the aggro from the nearby nasty monsters always comes down upon you. If you are in the MHC, asking for backup to hold off some of that aggro would be a no brainer. Or another example, there is an item you desire (for whatever purpose) being sold by a player, but you simply dont have enough kron to purchase it. Given a decent reason, a fellow member would be happy to lend you some kron, because what goes around, comes around.

What are the requirements to joining?

To be a proud member of the Monster Hunter Corps., one must fulfill three simple requirements. 1) You must be able to survive out in the fields of battle alone. This means that no matter where you go, you can safely travel without having to ask for help. 2) You must display a sufficient level of knowledge about the game/gameplay. This means that any random person can come up to you and ask "Heeeeey! where can i find X?" or "how come when i do Q, nothing happens??" and you will be able to succinctly help answer their inquiry. 3) You must be a considerate and well mannered player of the game. This ought to be self-explanatory, however it means that you must be willing to help others, and never talk down to or flame/harrass/discriminate other players. (there is a big difference between telling someone they cannot join a party because they are too low a level to be of any real help, and telling them they cannot join because they s**k at life) Should you fulfill these three requirements, the guild leaders will decide if you are a worthy addition to the Corps.

The MHC is not for everyone. Only those who strive to excell in combat and be of assistance to the community are allowed entry.

Besides the vague distinction between leaders and the rest of the Corps., there is no difference amoungst the members. We are all akin in that we enjoy fighting and being of service. Members may come and go as they wish, but should any member grossly break any of their requirements, such as shout nasty messages to others or otherwise be found to be a nuisance amoungst the game community, their membership will be revoked permenantly or until further notice.

Ahaha, well, though Acolytes may take longer to kill monsters, being able to use ranged attacks (Illusion Quake) more than makes up for the slow rate of kills (plus, they can heal themselves freely...)

There are plenty of Acolytes who brave the wilderness alone!

Due to some concern within and without, I will have to explain some things about what the Monster Hunter Corps. is all about.
Though it is true that in order to stand on your own in the world of Xen one should or at least ought to have an adequate level of offence and defence, this is not always the case.

You must be able to survive out in the fields of battle alone. This means that no matter where you go, you can safely travel without having to ask for help.

What this statement means is that you can go anywhere (practically) you so choose, and grind or kill at your leisure. Heck, even the weakest of Apprentices can go out and grind at a map where all the monsters' names are blood red, it's all about skills and methodology. On the other hand, should one choose to do this, it would be rediculous for that person to start shout-spamming for help to get them back to a "safer" map.
The MHC wants quality players, not just powerful ones, and, once again:

Ive taken quite an interest in your guild (no not cause my huz is here lol) I look at guilds today and there is too much drama and conflict. I see the MHC as a fun guild! So I would like to be taken into consideration of being accepted (did i word that right O_o) anyways...

Let me tell you a bit about myself in comparision to your guilds moral standards.
I am a cleric, most reffered to as the weakest class, but thats not the case with me! I go where i want and when i want and i dont need an escort to take me there! Ive ran from brynhild to sherwood forest on my own whim without help! I solo alot and can handle monsters twice my level! Im up for any challenge! Im the tanking Cleric WOOT! *cough gettin full of myself >.>;

I like to help people. Wether they need a xen stone or just a leveling buddy im allways there to lend a helping hand~ This is a guild i can really relate to. Just because it describes me and game play. lolz

Well...I've been wanting to joing a guild for a while, but I haven't seen one that suits me. However, there's a lot of things that look promising with MHC, and it seems to match my playing style, so I thought I'd apply :D.

The two things I attempt to do in SoS is to challenge myself, and help people. I've challenged myself by traveling the world alone, familiarizing myself with the land and its denizens. I've been to nearly every area, primarily solo, testing and honing my skills against all manner of fell beast. I even started soloing the caves at lvl 58. Ok...I heard that snicker Toru, um...what I meant by soloing was safe zone killing :p. Since then I've started aoeing the caves, and have finished the lvl 71 guard quest for the second lvl of the caves. As a side note, I also believe I was the first Super Xen to ever brave the caves (even if it was for 4.7 secs).

I've also battled in the third lvl of the mines, the ice maps, the new desert maps, the pirate ship, and even explored old bryn using extract before the gate was opened.

Other ways that I've challenged myself and familiarized myself with the land is to finish the battle pet quest, raise a Xenian to the 40's, and participated in quests and pvp.

I enjoy helping people, whether its helping the level impaired find their way to the veggie shop girl, taking someone out aoeing for that last 10%, answering pet quest questions, or teaching someone the best build for a rogue.

I'm also active (semi-active atm) on the forums, answering questions, giving feedback, and starting helpful threads.

I'm an easy going guy who only wants to have a good time free from flaming and other drama often associated with other guilds. So I'd be honored if I could become a member of the Monster Hunter Corp.

My character names are altracia (disciple)level 63 and firewatcher(app) level 24. I am interested in joining your guild.

I have solo'd on this game when I started as aco and did not party until after level 44. So, I would say that I can survive on the battle-field. I am not afraid to fight and not afraid to defend other players even if I am not in their party. I often Assist Heal on the field to help anyone including aoe'ers.

I thoroughly enjoy helping other people on the game and gave even helped some characters on the game to level without any advantage to myself.

finally a guild that looks good to me (and the name Monster Hunter drew me here since i've played the game so much and it rules). as for holding my own on the field, where ever i go i'm soloing 95% of the time and die only when i get mobbed like crazy (or run out of hp potions). i hate it when someone asks for help and others are like 'get lost you noob', i'm usually the one who ends up helping them out. for the knowledge portion, the only town i really ever go to is Brynhild so i'm pretty good about the surrounding area but i'm almost useless for the areas around the other towns (although i have run all the way to candyvault myself from Brynhild).

Hey everyone, i'm looking for guild so i read a few topics of guilds, but mostly its not about lvling yourself or gaining exp the good old fashion way (kill the mobs.. they owe me money lol) but about teamplay with some drama involved plus they seem to have high standards qua lvl and input (money or something) I don't like that.. i rather face the mines alone then some drama queens..

I went to deposit some items in the guild storage and found we were maxed out so I took out some of the things that are easy to buy, like scrolls and trackers to make room for more important stuff. In my opinion, if someone needs a scroll and has zero cash, they can just withdraw a bit of money to buy them. Maybe someone can go through the stuff there and take out some of the items that may not get used, like the low lvl equipment, and if you're a non-sparkcash pot user, take the pots! :D

It is wonderful to be on the forums and read all of your posts in our guild section.
To know you are all doing well is fantastic news. From my end I miss you all terribly.
For most who don't know I am unable to play SotS because my computer is shot and this laptop
can not handle the amount of players on one server. For the most part you can catch me drifting
online every now and then just to say hi and have friendly conversations with you all.

As a CL I want to make my guild proud. Trying my best to keep peace when outbreaks appear,
but at times it is rather difficult. Emotions get the best of you. I became a CL to help players, for

I've been doing alot of thinking. I'm not much for Solstice at the moment mostly because of lag problems and connection errors but, slowly but surely I will be popping into game every now and then. Perhaps one day I will continue my leveling, if no one minds leveling a lv 79 noob cleric hehe..

The day will come again when I can fully play but for now I will test my connection to see how badly it will be if I continue to play. I wouldn't mind exploring lost byrnhild, It is my favorite place in all of Solstice~

Hello Varn,

Since I have been back I have been kind of doging the guild issue althougher. But after some thought and because I actually knew some people in this guild. I have decided that I would like for Monique-chan to join the guild.

Although Moni is sorta on hold atm (while I works towards getting my cleric), I can on occasions still be found browsing around (and chatting) on Moni. And I of course have no plans to keep Moni on hold forever.

Now let's see. I have been playing since CB, where I was a predictor. If asked I will often try to give an answer even if it is a "Sorry don't remember" or "Sorry don't know". Fact of the matter is that I have skipped my fair share of quests and other game plays elements (that didn't involve talking or grinding). For the most part I think I can hold my own. Or rather I tend to solo on Moni more than I tend to party.

That all said I am more likely to be on SOS than on the forums. Also my sig contains my char names, and if I am not in school, studying, sleeping, eating, or reading (or just out), then I am most likely on SOS.

The measuring system of alcohol content is known as "proof" to those of you who don't know (I'm surprised I know even, I stay away from the junk xD) and it is a fun story how that measurement came into being. See, this brilliant engineer had the amazing idea that he could, not necessarily SHOULD, put alcohol together with gunpowder to measure how much alcohol was there. Yes, he set the concoction on fire. He figured that if it burned, the mixture was 20 Proof. And well, if it exploded, it was LESS than 20 Proof.
And I'm pursuing a path in the same career as one such individual.

Stopping by for a moment to express my interest in membership. (I'm getting tired of TranscendencE, as the guild is constantly "under new ownership" and has a revolving door of members; it is thereby bereft of any sense of community whatsoever.)

Addressing your candidacy stipulations one by one:

I'm an Acolyte, 5x, so frankly, killing monsters "endlessly" isn't exactly my forte. Not to say that I CAN'T, or that I WON'T, it just takes a while. :D I am proud to have a great degree of knowledge of Solstice...some of it came with help, some came through my endless desire to learn and improve (which all stemmed from my first trip to Chanthery Gorge at level 20. Ask if you must, it's a great story.) I also like helping spread the knowledge as often as I can and those very few times I DO slack while in-game, I usually get sucked into helping the nearest n00b (on purpose because it's fun and they're often very nice and grateful for my assistance).

I feel I'm a good fit for the MHC for a handful of reasons, the plurality of which I'll now state for you.

Regarding the ability to travel maps without assistance: I always travel well prepared and well stocked, fighting my way through maps if no help to get to my destination is available. I'll be the first to admit that some maps simply cannot happen for me yet, but most of those are maps I have no business being in (at least for now), and when I do, you can put full trust in my statement that I'll be prepared when the time comes.

Regarding Solstice knowledge: I find that I can answer most any question at most any time, and I ALWAYS do so as tactfully as possible. (I'm a firm believer in the idea that it never pays to be rude to a stranger, and furthermore, I fully acknowledge that the n00bs of today are the 1337s of tomorrow). If I don't know (which is rare), I point them in the right direction or do some research. The absolute worst case scenario is a "Well, thanks anyway."

Regarding being considerate and well-mannered: This ties in a little bit to the last paragraph. "It never pays to be rude to a stranger." I know also that it never pays to be rude to guildmates, and frankly, acceptance into the guild would be just one more reason to be on my best behavior. I get along very well with almost everyone who gives me a chance.

Now to address the obvious question of why I feel the MHC is a good fit for ME: This appears to be the sort of guild that focuses on helping to achieve greatness through a practical approach that encompasses the combination of hard work and knowledge. I'm gunning for Cleric at the moment, and I can think of no greater joy than to be able to say "I did it with hard work and the support of a great guild" when the time does come. Furthermore, this appears to be a society of intelligent, sociable, and helpful hard workers. Which I am. Like attracts like, and the feeling of being the archetype of the average MHC member will only make it all that much easier to relate...and to get along.

I sincerely hope that you consider me for membership in the MHC. While I'm not particularly active (as my school schedule is plain ridiculous this semester), I'm on often enough to keep abreast of major developments and to occasionally participate in Guild events to which I may potentially be invited. Should you wish to discuss this matter further with me, please send me a private message here on the forums. They are checked almost daily.

I tweaked your image a bit maxon...hope you don't mind...you can use it or not :). I made the background transparent, thickened the swords a bit, and darkened the hilt, and outline of the shield so it stood out better. Yours was very good to start out with, so there wasn't much that needed doing.

This first chapter only has Varn and El in it; appropriate I thought since Varn founded the guild, and El is our general and the next guildy to have been in MHC the longest (who plays regularly anyway). If you could find a way to either make the background transparent or perhaps round off the corners of the black square (which would require making some of the background transparent..) then you might have something here.

Why the silver border around it? Or was that what you meant when you said you had to work with it? I liked the original way better. Although the silver border is easier to see against the grey background of the forum, I think the previous way would look better in game. Also, the border hides the center of the swords where they overlap the shield, so that all you notice is the hilts and tips of the swords. Unless the swords are supposed to be behind the shield... I guess I like it simple. Just my 2 cents :D. My vote is still with C or D1.

I hadn't heard about the guild meeting for the emblem, so my input, though a little late, is that D is fine the way it was originally, and doesn't need to be changed. Try to put too much into such a small icon, and it just looks tacky. Of course, I'm always open to others input, and my opinion could always change with a good design. If the problem people were having with the emblem was that it would be hard to see being completely black, my suggestion would be to put a silver/gold starburst or sun behind it to make it show up better. Still...I think it's fine the way it is.

I would like to join a real guild (Bunny Power! is awesome, but it is for storage only). This one looks nice, and I know a few of the people here, I think. I looked at the requirements to join, and unfortunately, I always need escorts to maps, I am a total n00b and know nothing, and and and I am one of the meanest jerks you will run across in-game. But, on the upside, I promise to be active on Kremie.


Anyway, would very like to join MHC. Please have meh! :D

The first three chars I leveled (archer, mage, then disciple) have been soloing machines. I partied from time to time, but because the classes are so well-equipped to grind on their own, I never had to rely on parties for my lvls. Which is nice and convenient, but it also means that I miss out on the sense of community that a lot of people get from partying consistently with the same group of people. That sense of community is the primary reason I am looking for a guild. I'm not all about the grind, nor do I want to pwn in PVP, so I'm not looking for a guild geared towards either of those purposes. I just want to hop on the game and be able to chat with a friendly and decent group of people.

That said, I have actually taken a look at the first post in this thread, and here's what I can say in response to the requirements. I don't grind as much as some friends in the game, but enough, I think, to know how to handle my chars in any situation. I've done the solo killing long-ranged thing, and the aoe melee thing. I like grinding, so I do enjoy "killing monsters" (but that sounds so barbaric >_<). I've been catching up on quests, so now I can actually answer questions about them; I've also played every class to lvl 30+ (including Xenian :D), so I can answer questions on how to lvl, where to lvl, stat distributions and all that. I am totally drama-free, and I try to be civil both in game and on forum (though sometimes that can be hard ._.).

Just wanted to thank all my guildies for helping me make assassin :D. You're all awesome, and even though you may think you've done little to help me get here, since I mainly solo, you've actually done a lot.

Sorry that I changed so late so that many of you couldn't come D:. I had a phone call that took an hour, and then with all the craziness with the new guildies being added, it took some time away from grinding that last 50%.
