Possible Hacker?

I heard reports of a hacker on the Teva server... I think it is happening on Bijou now.

As soon as I got to Uruga I got a disconnected from server message. When I attempt to relog, I continually get disconnected after a few seconds.

Please address this! It is very frustrating.

On our server I just read that there was hacker mage in PvP zone , I was there but maybe not at exact same time so... I can't really tell but dissconecting might be cause of your internet connection and/or server or map problems .

I am able to log in with my alt characters that are in elderine and run around just fine. It is only in Uruga that I have a problem.

I don't think it is my internet connection.

We think it was a lowbie character BuoBoles, or something to that effect. I was running around and got kicked right as he came into sight.

If you notice on all the maps there are these dead clerics and none of them have respawned back to town. That's fishy.

If someone did reverse engineer the packets in the network programing (what you call a hacker) then that is serious. It kind of appears to be they found out how to get GM powers. Which is explainable on the programming end. Such as, sending a packet saying they are a GM and can do this...or w/e. I have no idea what kind of commands are out their for them to grab but they should be protected better on the server side.

However, massive DCs sounds like a server issue to me. I don't know how the "hacker" rumor started. If a GM would clear this up it would help calm down people a bit in my opinion. I haven't seen all the other weird things that have been happening.

Side Note: Reverse engineering packets is something extremely difficult to do. Someone with that knowledge, what would they gain by running around town dcing people?

If you honestly think that some script kiddie would do something like this for gain, then you obviously know nothing of how these people operate. Lets look at this.

A hacker is someone who likes to learn about how things work. Network protocols, network topography, how programs communicate. The stigma surrounding the word "Hacker" makes me sick nowadays. To call these people "Hackers" is anything but. These people are what you would call boils or infected pustuoules of the hacker society. They are the script kiddie.

Anyone with malicious intent bent on causing any user grief by means of programs or code not of their own is a skript kiddie. That annoying little twit down the road who infected you with the sub7 trojan and gets into your computer taking screenshots of you through your webcam. Script kiddie.

That obnoxious little dork on mIRC who exploits a DCC chat bug to make anyone he so chooses disconnect at his whim. Script Kiddie.

That underleveled n00b who is mad because no one will power level him in his favorite mmo that read about a bug in chat to disconnect people. Script kidde.

Do you see where this is going? Your reactions are what he does it for. All those people who sign back in, swearing up and down about getting disconnected and yelling hacker, thats what they want. Attention. They want more credit to themselves than is due, and everyone running around yelling HAX is exactly what they want. These guys are a fleck of puss on a boil on slime on the bottom of your shoe. These guys aren't even as qualified as a single celled organizim in life. Its pathetic.

But I dont know whats worse: The people who do it or the people who give them the credit they desire, but dont deserve.

The people who DO know what they are doing when it comes to this "stuff" can understand where im comming from, and if you dont understand, its like this. Its like fighting a blue trumpy, working hard to get it down, when some lvl 15 comes in and gets a single hit on it. Then everyone around him calling him elite and awesome and godly when your the one who did the work to kill the trumpy. I cant think of a better analogy. But im veering off topic here.

Its control. Thats what they do it for. To know that at any moment they can do something arbitrary and disconnect a ton of people for no apparant reason. Its like giving a child a bulldozer. Hes gonna run over whatever he wants BECAUSE HE CAN. The best way to handle this is to ignore it. Relog and go somewhere else. I always carry roumen, eld and uruga scrolls incase they start messing around again. if I DC, I relog and scroll out. Comming back online cursing the "Hackers" is only gonna fuel the fire. Cause then he can turn around and be like "look at me, im a hacker. lolz"

Yes there are people who are petty enough to do this for NO REASON AT ALL. Because its a reason you dont understand, doesnt mean its not a reason.

Oh and "Reverse engeneering packets" is not hard. Not by a long shot. Getting those packets to do what you want them to is tricky. So I doubt a spoofed GM packet is whats causing this, otherwise people would be spoofing levels and spoofing money all over the place.

First of all, I never thought it was a reverse engineerer but pointed out the possibility.

Secondly, Reverse engineering is one of the hardest programming techniques known. Getting the packets is as easy as a simple packet sniffer...but understanding the order of the bytes of data inside each packet and what they represent is a puzzel all in its own. If you ever have gone into network progamming, you line up the data in a certain order. Everybody has their own ways but some of it is standard.

I haven't heard the word script kiddie in about 10 years. Don't call it some script kiddie. A script kiddie isn't a programmer.

Yup, its really fishy. Everytime you port into a new area. you get to see this clerics lying around. It could be the hackers need this dead clerics around to trigger off some sort of programme.

The funny thing is...shouldn't GMs be doing smething about this? Assuming they are attending to this problem. Shouldn't they info or put up notices to keep us informed? This has been happening for a couple of days but there is yet to be any news coming from GMs. I seriously hope that GMs will keep us in the loop soon enough. (=

Folks, often times they have been aware since the beginning when a problem arises. However if they have to sit and cater to everyone becrying for attention to their issue regarding this situation then that detracts them from focusing on the problem.

They are aware, they're not stupid, ignorant, or turning a blind eye as conspiracy theory ladened people in here seem to doll out left and right over these d/c's.

They are aware, they are looking into it, and it will be addressed and fixed.

Rather than misinform you they wish to get the solid facts before addressing it publicly. They have been doing this since Closed Beta 2, for you newcomers who don't know about that.

Mindspank reminded me .... real hackers wouldn't be interested in messing around with ppl by games , a REAL hacker wouldn't do such stupid stuff, more like they would be interested in programing/talking about programs/or doing some other stuff that would give them more information about systems or programs, this is just some or kid that likes to mess around and knows how or this is a totaly idiotic adult who doesn't have a life and messes around with games. oh and if it was real hacker he/she/they would probably put whole server down or make themselfs max lvl give themselfs 999gems 999 gold 999s and 999c.
Also I heard some people saying that in Closed Beta some one broke in data base and set them selfs lvl 229 or something. Now if you people would be realy interested in it you would try to check out Shine Online , another version of Fiesta only in Korean which is completed more because it came out earlier. Their max lvl is 150 which is real max for this game Maybe Im wrong which I doubt , but I can say max lvl is only cause I saw picture of lvl 150 fighter on google image search.

Still... I would like to have them publicly admit that there is a problem and they are looking into it. Please acknowledge the fact that something is happening to the system to make all of these D/C's occur. To me, that's just common courtesy and customer service.

They don't have to have a solution right away. I understand that no answer is better than a wrong answer. But admitting there is a problem is also better than remaining silent on the issue altogether.

Cleric.... one that had ZERO Hps & SPs! I tried talking with them, Whispering, everything short of
a Trade Offer. I was ignored completely. I took 2 ScreenShots, 1 when I first noticed their non-existant

Anyone who is LVL 150 is a GM.

Odds are, theres not a hacker. There might be a problem with the game that people are assuming is a hacker. If it was a hacker they wouldn't DC you constantly. They'd steal things, or take your account, but theres no reason for them to DC anyone.
