IM trying to get my mage to learn the skill to refine copper but it isnt goin very well...... are there any reasons why i can learn it with him?? please help me out ty

Hello Draicia!
When you say refine copper, are you talking about the alchemy skill item composistion? If this is so, then there are a couple of reasons why you may be having trouble.
The first reason may be that you have not chosen your alchemy skills yet. If you know about alchemy, skip over this next sentence or two.. but every player can choose two alchemy skills per character. There is potion production, stone production, scroll production, item composistion, and item decomposistion. In order to refine your copper.. or make low grade copper into higher grade copper, you must have item composistion as one of your alchemy skills.
The second possible reason is that you may have the wrong skills for what you are trying to do. If you have item decomposition instead of composistion, then you will only be able to turn higher quality items into lower quality items.
The third problem you may be expierianceing as that you do have item composistion, but you have not learned the skill yet. Simply chooseing an alchemy skill is not enough.. you must learn how to produce each new item by purchasing a skill scroll from NPCs. Purchase the correct skill scroll for the level of production you are at.
If you have no production skill for copper, the very first one is Material Composistion: Middle-Class Copper Ore. This will turn low-class ore into middle class. The skill can be purchased from Skill Master Ruby in Roumen ^___^
