Decomposition production skill?

I have decomposition as my second alchemy skill, and I just don't understand what it really does? How would decomposition item make me any money. I think from my experience what really suck about both decomposition and composition is the many different item that one must collect as oppose to stone production.

Should I completely ignore it, and just work with my stone production skill? Or should I even bother to use it?

Decomp is one skill that is usefull no matter what other production skill you may have. It allows you to take higher tier mats and turn them into many lower leveled mats. This becomes of enourmous value when t1 mats are no longer dropped. It also allows you to save your inventory space until you are ready to use them. For example, one dim gem dust will decomp into 22 old gem dusts. Your production skills will also rise faster because it's much faster to collect 1 dim dust than it is to get 22 old dusts.

But isn't the higher level dust worth more than the lower dust? So I don't understand why I am making it a lesser value?

You need the items to make other things, scrolls, potions, stones, etc. Aim scroll for example is torn leather and summoned beast leather lq, after about level 30 those items don't drop at all. The only way to get them is to decomp or buy them.

I thought i'd finally put up my info.

Ok. I will break it down one time for you only as an example.

BUY one SBL HQ for 350-400c.

so 1=400c. + 40c for stone to decomp it. you get total of 440c.

now you decomp that,

You get 3 SBL MQ which market sell sofr 300c each area.

So 440c now becomes 900c. Profit of 460c each.

BUT if you decomp the MQ you get the following

(YOUR COST) approx 147c. EACH. DEcomps into 14 SBL LQ.

14sbl lq sell each at between 25c-80c+

IF you sell each at 25c you make 350c on one MQ. And thats the lowest cost. So to break it down at lowest cost....

440c TO 900c TO 1 silver 50c

AT highest price

440c TO 900c TO 3360c

So if you sell those in bulk or fast you can make alot of money.

Myself i work on scrolls and decomp. I buy high mats, decomp em down then go from there. STOCK up on alchemy stones if u can it would help for future use.
