When I first noticed the bug: Thursday, Feb 21, 2008, about 2000 (10:00 PM) Pacific time, after applying new game update patch
Can you replicate this bug: Yes
Bug description:
As of the newest update, whenever I get past the Outspark Loader, I get the blue screen of death and the entire computer crashes and reboots. I tried reinstalling the whole of Fiesta, and I've had no luck fixing it.

I've tried to read the blue screen (as I obviously can't take a print screen), but it disappears too quickly.

I have suspicions this is related to X-Trap, but I can't be certain. Furthermore, if it is because of X-Trap, I contend that crashing the whole system is not a known issue thus far. ...Sorry to interject my opinion here, but I really think that dropping XTrap would be a good idea at this point. Anything that messes with your system enough to blue screen it upon start-up can't be all that good a product. >_> I mean seriously. Is cheat prevention really worth ruining the entire game for a large number of users? (Note that I mean via other game ruining bugs as well.)

System Information, since it might be relavent to a complete system crash:
-Windows XP (Updated Properly)
-IE 7.0.5730.11
-ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Series
-512 MB Memory (by the standard they use when selling it, not that actual memory size)
-1.69/1.70 GHz Intel Celeron M Processor
-Running an administrative account (Seriously, this a BAD requirement. If security holes are open while you're running admin, a hacker can get a lot more control over your computer. Furthermore, I'm betting a fairly large number of players can't even get onto an administrative account because their parents care too much about their computer's security. >_> Plus, you shouldn't need an administrative account just to play a little MMORPG game; that's just... needless, wasteful, and senseless. Think about it really. If you own a computer and want to play a game, would you want to play a game that needs that level of control over your computer just to work? Any sensable user would say, "HECK, NO! I don't want it messing with my system!")

To duplicate: Open the Outspark Launcher, put in my information, click "Login," wait about 30 seconds.

I posted a thread on this issue in the Troubleshooting forum yesterday. Try installing the manual patch in that forum. That got the game running, at least, for me. Though the client lags enough to be practically unplayable now. (See yet another thread by me... :( )

Thanks for the advice, but I'm going to wait. If the Fiesta staff doesn't care whether their code even remotely works or not, then I'm not going to bother to keep playing. I like high quality software, and whether it's X-Trap or Fiesta, this isn't it. There's more to good software than what the user sees on the screen. If X-Trap is the source of the problem, then they really need to get the heck rid of it. Any software that works worse than Windows isn't worth keeping, and it looks like X-Trap doesn't.

Quick question. Do you have anything like XFire, anti-virus, firewalls, etc running when you try to load up Fiesta? For some reason those are coming to be known interference with the program (why, I'm not sure).

I use AVG and ZoneAlarm, and I'm not opening up my computer's vulnerabilities to play Fiesta. Like I said, this is an issue the staff needs to fix (and the best solution is probably to remove X-Trap from their games). Users shouldn't have to ignore their good security practices just to play a game. It really steams me that they'd even put users in the situation of having to choose to begin with.

The computer is my tool. It's not Outspark's or X-Trap's. I have to sit in front of it and use it, and I have to deal with its problems. We're the end users, and software should be designed with the foresight to quality so that junk like this doesn't happen. If Outspark or X-Trap can't find it in themselves to respect that the computer is mine and that they don't need control over the whole dang blasted thing, then it's not worth playing the game.

Again, thanks for the help, and sorry... well, only a little sorry for the soap-boxing.

As for why, it's probably related to the enormous amount of control X-Trap seems to require. Firewalls and anti-virus don't just let other programs do whatever they want. They protect your system at least some. If X-Trap is asking for the ability to be completely ignored by my security software, forget it. I'm not letting it through. That's practically malware. If it's trying to perform operations similar to firewalls, then that's a well known problem because two firewalls running at the same time can crash your system. Either way, I'm certainly not disabling my security software to connect to a massively accessed server, where the potential for encountering someone malicious is higher than normal.

I agree with Blade . No way I put my antivirus off, computer is my work tool and after 3rd time x-trap crushes my XP(32bit),(2 G RAM,3 Ghz Pentium4),I reconsider if I ever gonna play Fiesta(although it is my favorit game.It is better to wait for Outspark to remove that problem.I have read all posts on this forum, and remove all programs in the background(not antivirus of course),but it is not working.
Remove x-trap coze only fools will remove their antiviruses.
