View Full Version : Stop breaking the economy!

I've been seeing it more and more often in Bijou and Apoline. People buying the rarest resources, like Summoned Beast Leather or Tough Meat for example, for exorbitant prices. It makes it impossible to buy these resources along side them to build up production points, and then turn around to sell the products at a reasonable price for profit. It's getting to the point that the target audience simply can't afford these excess scrolls or potions, and indeed refuse to buy them at all. Myself included, as I go out to farm for a lot of my own stuff, but again, this wastes time and is horribly monotonous.
I know there's not a whole lot to discuss here, but one can relate stories of high priced stuff that really shouldn't be selling, or people paying a lot more than they need to for stuff in general.

What actually annoys me is the fact that people are selling the things they make ridiculously cheap -_-; at one point people were selling elrue[1] for 30c on Teva, that's about a 20c loss per elrue. I hate it when people don't understand how business economy works just because they want to make a quick buck.

Personally, I've had to start buying SBL at 300+c (depending on the competition at the time) because it's simply just getting too hard to buy SBL with all the competition going. It's also too hard to actually farm it...
In any case, my personal problem is that people are selling some things for a lot cheaper than others, which in turn drives down prices, and hence profit. In another words, competition sucks - increasing production costs, lowering sales.

maybe they just want to get to the higher tier productions skills and not use up all their storage?
that's what I did at least. once I got to tier 3 decomp, I spent an entire weekend decomping all my saved up t3 mats and made thousands and thousands of def[1] and vit[1] scrolls just so I could get to tier2 and tier 3 scroll production.

What I did to rack up my production skill points was make another character to gather mats from lower level mobs. If you don't NPC what that character gets, you can put those mats into storage and make them on your other character. You can also sell off your other drops for more money from players =D

I understand this,i dont have the potion production skill,so i dont really use potions because people drive the prices way high, and i really could use them now at lvl 50 when the mobs you fight do about 300+ im just trying to make a living,im almost able to make lix2,the items you need for elrue1 are rare now for me,and the items i need for elrue2 are the dims, and those are hard not to sell,so i basically rest alot since stones are costing alot now adays,im starting to regret not getting the potion production skill :(

I think that those highly demanded items should be more common in the game; we use lots of them to make very disposable items (in a battle with a higher level mob you could burn through five or six hp potions, thats what? 10 tough meats?), plus everybody needs them (a lot of them, to get to tier 2 you need something like 2 or 3 thousand of those difficult to find goods). That's not too cool considering you have to pay like 15C (latest price on apoline) per meat and 35C per summoned beast leather... There's a lot of better things to spend that on; it just seems like it would be a nice fix if all of a sudden those items like dim dusts, summoned beast leather, tough meat, etc. became abundant.
On the other hand, it is pretty interesting to see how the economy on fiesta has evolved so rapidly; just a couple weeks ago i could set up a shop and overnight buy 250 summoned beast leather for 5C each, now i have to pay something like 20C and I half to hope somebody else doesn't set up next to me paying 25 or 30C. That's competition, and it's the sign of a healthy economy... we'll just have to wait and see what things look like as the population of fiesta increase, we're already seeing some players who can afford to monopolize on those goods by paying ten times the going rate (kudos to them i guess, if you wanna compete you just half to start cutting that profit margin like real companies).

No kidding, I mean thats the "American Way" right? I buy elrue low because it's for sale low. If I can purchase Elrue at 65c each, thats kind of a no brainer. Lix1 easily sells for 500c or even 700c and if I can mine copper and make 200 to 300c per Lix1, I'm making money and bettering my skill production. Win Win.

You know I opened a store last night for sbl lq and sold 750 of them for 98c in like 2 hours. I agree its kinda crazy, but if you have a store emptied out in 2 hours, wow why not!!! I personally will sell for whatever people are willing to pay for it.

I have never understood why making xir is no profit but actually a loss. When i was in my lvl 30s below i made lix1, i could sell it for 230c ea real fast and to make xir1 u need 3 lixs so 230x3=690c+topaz if u find real cheap cost u 100c so 790c about just to make 1 xir, but i see most ppl selling xir for 600c!! i mean ur just losing money b/c right now lix sells faster and for more profit until u get tier 2 then lix2 is about impossible to sell(im on bijou btw) but elrue and xir are easy to sell, its just all screwed up

I think part of the problem is the failure rate after+6-+7. If you think about it, it usually takes you just as many trys from +7 to +9 as it takes from 0 to +7. Therefore xirs being in higher demand.

People should realize that the ones who set up stores buying sbl for 40c are also selling scrolls at 190c each.About a month ago a person could buy scrolls for 100c each.

learn decomp skill and train it good, at 60+ with spider you get easy maths to decomp.
i still sell scrolls for 100c (T1), easy to make and sold fast.

People can buy any price they want? Its obviously supply and demand, everyone wants that material...so whoever pays the best gets it.

I bought 50 defense scrolls for 4s (80 each) the other day.
Anywho, I gave up on production for the time being. I figure I might as well just sell my materials to vendors for extremely high prices and train with buffs instead of scrolls. It's been working out really well so far. If you are a cleric, or could party with one, I would highly recommend you do so.
