Here's a guide that may help you. It's a bit heavy reading, but useful nonetheless.
When you first get into the game you can change your camera angles by holding down right click and moving your mouse. You can zoom in and out with the scroll wheel on your mouse. If you don't have one of those use PgUp and PgDn on the keyboard.
When you first start the game asks you to see Remi. She stands right in front of where the new people spawn. If you are having problems finding any NPC's just press "M" and that will open your map. Then you will see where each NPC in your area is. The NPC's with the pink"!" mean they have quests for you.
When you start out you won't have to worry much about armour or weapons. You get nearly everything from quests. Though if you are a class that uses a shield you will have to buy it. Luckily once you complete Remi's quest to find Julia you will have just enough to buy one.
If you run outside of the town there will be monsters you can kill. If you click on the first Gate and enter Forest of Tides there will be more room for you to kill. And slightly less lag XD.
Just double click what you want to attack, or click once and press the number that is on your hotkey bar. When you start out this will be "1". "2" is item pick up. Make sure you pick up your drops. Those are your biggest source of money.
When you want to sell items just go up to any NPC that sells items (Healer,Smith,Skill Master, Item Merchant, etc) click Purchase, and then Right Click what you wish to sell. You can sell multiple stacks at once with Ctrl Right click. Or if you want to sell a certain amount you can unstack and sell with Shift Right click.
"c" opens your character info
"K" opens your kill window, if you go to the alchemy section you can pick production skills to buy recipies for. Be careful what you choose. Once you choose you cannot change them. You can also drag the icons of your skills to your hotkey bar for quick access.
"I" opens your inventory
"M" opens your map
"U" opens the world map
"V" opens your emote window thing.
"B" opens your vendor, you can buy or sell things directly from players rather than going to the NPC.
"Home" on your keyboard puts you in your mushroom house for resting. You can also access this from pressing "H" and it will pull up other options. When you are level 25 you can buy a new look for your shroom.
Don't KS people. KS = Kill Steal. Which means if you attack a monster someone else already is. People tend to overreact and freak out, and throw a 3 year old temper tantrum over this. Plus it's considered harassment.
So just a heads up to keep you out of trouble XD.
Hmmm guess I could list the NPC's and their uses.
Raina - Storage Keeper. You can put items in storage if you don't have the room, or if you have different characters on the same account you can share things through storage.
Pey - Item Merchant. You can buy Elrues/Flotation stones/Mover and other random things from her. Though usually you can get Elrues cheaper from players.
Julia - Healer. You can buy Hp and Sp stones from her to restock what you have
Ruby - Skill Master. You can buy skills and alchemy recipies from her, as well as the mining and mover riding skills.
James - The Smith. You can buy weapons and armour from him, or enhance your weapons there as well.
Zach - Weapon Title Merchant. You can buy licenses from him or put licenses on your weapon here. Licenses increase the amount of damage you do to the monster that the license is for. Some even raise the Crit % of your weapon if completed.
Hope this helps, I don't have enough coffee to think of anything else XD.

And use SHIFT-Y (could be SHIFT-Z, like in many games the keyboard handling is bugged). It turns off the other players, which means only you and the NPCs are still visible. Makes it much easier to walk around in town and spot the NPCs.
Don't forget to turn it off again when you leave town, else you'll be wondering why there are no monsters outside :-) It turns off automatically when you use a gate into another map, but the first few levels are spent right outside town.
