Alright this is a rant, if you don't want to read one stop now and move on!
Alright so recently Daos has been doing Mara KQ...yes its a rant about the idiots in Mara KQ...and so I figured with this being a new server, and most of the people I have seen have migrated from other servers and thus should know what they are doing, that maras should be easy for awhile until we get the influx of newbies since we are at the top of the list...Well I was sorely mistaken. Of the six or seven maras I have done, 2 or three have succeeded. For one reason only did we fail...WE WERE MADE TO RUSH! So I implore you all to NOT rush any mara kq, as people will be left behind, or will die repeatedly, because the are trying to keep up with you. My most recent experiance is that a few immediatly started rushing, and me a few archers and mages, and a cleric were left behind. Well by the time we finally got to the first mara/marlone, there were 8 of us. Now there was one fighter with us, only level 18...no scrolls...and only a little over 500 HP...needless to say all hell broke loose. Eventually I attempted to tank, lvl 22 archer at the time, as I was pulling all the aggro anyway, but the one cleric didn't heal me, and well we all died...game over...and so, if we hadn't rushed, we all might have succeeded, as I know one of my fighter buddies was there and she could have easily tanked them, and kept aggro off of me.

Lol i've only ever been in a full rush once. Why they do it is beyond me, its not like we are gonna run outta time or anything. Are they that impatient that they wanna go back to grinding.
Anyway i have the opposite problem. I find in mara kq, people want to kill EVERYTHING. I get tired of blasting away unneccessary (not sure how to spell this word LOL) mobs, when we could have easily walked around. But others haven't lost a mara kq in this server yet XD.

Hmmm...well glad to hear you are having better luck than me. Oh well it hardly concerns me for now anyway, since I just hit 26 and did my last, potentially disasterous, but okay, mara.

The reason why idiots rush is the same reason people yell "don't stun!!"
Correlation: someone stunned. They then lost Mara's aggro and she used her special on a nontanker. Ergo, stun causes Mara to reset her aggro and use her special attack...or so people seem to believe. There is a correlation there, but there is also a correlation between the time of day and when you eat; but that doesn't mean that the time of day causes you to eat anymore than your eating causes the time of day. See the problem? This is a myth used to justify bad tanking.
"You couldn't keep her aggro."
"Well, someone used stun. That resets her aggro."
See how this works? However you must remember:
Correlation =/= Causation
Apparently at some point in time in some KQ, people beat it in a very short amount of time. When that happened, they got really awesome drops (just by chance). This brought forth a very flawed logic:
"We get good stuff when we go fast. If we go faster, we'll get even BETTER stuff."
Thust sparking the 'rush if you want good drops' fallacy. In ANY KQ, you have a chance of getting some really good stuff, regardless of how long it takes you. You also have a chance of getting really worthless stuff; even if you beat it in 10 minutes.
For example:
One Mara I did, this guy rushed waaay ahead of the group, leaving everyone to fend for themselves. It was bad, because he was one of two rezzing clerics, and one of three clerics total. WE REALLY COULD HAVE USED HIS FREAKING HELP. But for the sake of great drops, he ran ahead and left everyone to take care of the monster mobs he left right in our path. This meant that more people died because the clerics couldn't keep up with everyone. With only one cleric actually doing their job while the other rookie cleric tried her best (you gotta love rookies. They try so hard), instead of resting in their house over by the first fakes, we lost more people. By the time we got to the first fakes, this cleric had the audacity to say: "idiot nubs hurry up."
When asked why, he answered "U get better drops if you beat it fast. U want stupid lix?"
Well, we continued on and managed to beat the quest in about 12-15 min (somewhere in there), despite the adversities. I think that is somewhat fast. Do you know what we got for winning in that time frame? Lix. Now who was the 'stupid nub' there?
Likewise, I beat a KQ that I never thought would end. We were definitely on the ropes, but managed to pull it off with about 2 min to spare. Everybody got some really awesome stuff from it. It's all chance. But that doesn't keep the weak minded and ignorant from buying into these myths.

This happened to me yesterday. >.> First 'real' time in Mara = died = left behind. Aren't we supposed to be a team? O.o
I'd rather go back to King Slime, lol D:
I've only tried rush twice in my time on Fiesta. The first was awsome. Everyone rushed, and we all made it, the whole way, and finished pretty fast, the second time, we ended up with like 6 people left by the time we got to the first mara/marlone, and got owned XD I find rushing stupid. Last night, we finished a KQ with over 30 minutes left, with no rushing(Daos was there...O.o)...

While I whole heartily agree that rushing is not neccesary, at least that is better than the people who check the player list, see only 1 or 2 clerics and give up.
I just got out of Mara KQ where most of the people killed themselves and gave up.
but taking our time, a handful of people and 1 cleric WON.

Thank you for making my point. I've all but given up on trying to explain to the idiots that stun doesn't do anything except stun, and that lightning DOES most of the time knock out the bleed damage of archer, thus rendering them half useless.

Huh you want a truly awesome story about Mara KQ? Well here we go, I never get tired of telling this one.
Alright back when Bijou was new, I had finally decided on my tanks build and empowerments after several reamakes. Well I was about lvl 22 and had just gotten out of a successful mara where I had tanked, and everyone had worked well together. Well I immediatly joined the last mara available because I liked doing mara. Well just as I finished restoning it started the countdown, and I was like, sweet no waiting (cause I hate waiting with a passion). So we get there and I saw 3 archers and a mage. Well I waited for everyone else to spawn, but to my dismay, no one did. Well the mage suicided right away at seeing the situation, but me and the archers quickly talked it over and decided we would try, and do the best we could. So we got to the first mara/marlone spot easily, and we debated whether we wanted to waste stones trying them, and we decided sure why not? So they grab marlone, and we wail on him unmercifully, and surprisingly he went down rather fast, thus giving us the encouragement we needed. So we plowed through mara as well, went and destroyed the ship, and when we were ready to pull we had about 25 min left I think. Well we knew we had plenty of time, so they pulled mara first cause I really hate her stun and wanted to be done with her. So we finished her, and I realized I was low on hp stones, and pots. So I ask them if they have any they could spare. Immediatly they all dropped tier 1 and 2 hp pots, and we slaughtered the final marlone with time ot spare. So the moral of the story is, unless everyone is going to give up, DON'T.
In case any of you who have seen Gades or Daos around, this story of my tank Kris on bijou was before the time I decided to start using the cash shop, so I went in with full HP/SP stones, and 100 of each tier 1 HP/SP pot, as that was my standard for all my characters of the time.

About the "rushing and leave them be" thing,i've experienced the same thing. The group rushed forward, leaving those behind to fend off the mob. Once a partyless cleric got left behind, got an agro from a fighter and i went to help him. if i'm not mistaken his name was Traffic. He told me " it's fine,go ahead" but i just shook my head and stick to help cause my party already have an extra cleric and i trust him to keep the party alive and he did. So excuse me if any of u die because i decided to help 'a' cleric than helping the 'lots' of you.

Alright, if I understood you correctly, you totally missed the entire point of my rant. Those that rush ahead deserve to die whatever painful deaths they do, because they are leaving people behind to die. I believe it is a very good thing you stayed behind to help someone else.

Seriously people, those that migrated to Epith should please stop being elitists. It's the top server and FYI, the influx of NEWBIES is a very good sign for an MMORPG. It keeps the game and the community alive. Stop ranting. We were all newbies anyways before, it's time to do your part and teach them how to play this game. If they don't listen then, that's not your problem anymore.
As for their failure, sorry to hear you've encountered so much failure. But relax, there are many factors that would lead to failure, so next time you join a kingdom quest, take the initiative and explain things so they would know what and what not to do. If they don't listen then that's not your fault, they're total noobs then. Really, it doesn't hurt to remind the cleric the remind them to heal you since you are tanking BEFORE you tank. Don't assume everyone knows about how to play the game.
..oh about the rushing in mara KQ, actually it's an efficient way to do things, only if done correctly. With all the time I've done it, it was always successful but several factors might have contributed to the success. *shrugs*

Whats the rush?
Sit back and relax, no need to go and finish asap.
Besides the only thing that determines a kq success, is me XP jk.
Anyway newbies are good yes. But bad if they follow the evil little monkey man in the corner that tells them all to rush wildy. When in a kq of 80% noobs and they follow the wrong leader, its really bloody hard to get them back. So if anyone out there is new to this, don't simply follow everyone else. At least ask what the hell they are doing, you'd think you would have to say something when everyone around you starts dying cos a guy leading the pack is being an evil little monkey man.......in the corner.
*salutes good kq people*

I made this thread because I knew all but like 2 of the people in all these Maras were from other servers and should have known better. I understand we will/are getting a bunch of newbies in the server, but we hadn't yet when I made this. Again as for the rushing situation, I find that when I don't rush, I finish with far more time left than when I have ever rushed. When I rush we are lucky to have 20 minutes left on the clock when we finish, but when I don't we have 32 minutes left on average, so now tell me which is better, adn if you rush successfully, please enlighten me as to how.

ummm.....
I've been in this game for 6 months now ppl.... and as a 17 cleric I was able to rush trough it all till the fakes and NOT DIE.... well as a 17 cleric specialized in spr my hp is very similar to a regular dd... and counting I don't heal myself during the rush.. using only pots and stones you have a high chance to just rush.... I started the server from the 1st minute and I played the 1st maras.... we were just a bunch of lowbies and surprise! Rush= Success ! So pls don't say rush is stupid... just organize yourselfs at the beginning... have 1 highlvl take the agro from the mobs you get in the way if you're scared and you can make the kq in less than 30mins for the end. If not all want to rush, 1 pt should go ahead and clean the 1st stage where the fakes are. This always worked very well for me. Ask some ppl who did the kqs with me... always succeeded... I even tanked as a lvl22cleric xD So don't be afraid to just take charge and put some order in the kq... You'l be surprised.

"If done correctly" being the key words. Now let me ask you: how many rookies who hear "rush" and "better drops" in the same paragraph are going to use a special strategy when rushing through a KQ? Not one. Their little rookie brains are gonna hear 'rush', 'better drops' and say "Okies!!!" and start haulin' @ss.
I have have done only one rushed KQ out of hundreds that actually went well. You are correct: if done right, it works wonderfully. However, you have nothing to gain from it, and everything to lose if you don't do it right. Being true to my pragmatic and logical nature, I must say that if there is no point to doing it and it only generates unnecessary risk; then don't freakin' do it, no matter how efficient it is when done properly.
So again, it still stands that rushing is pointless, risky, and frustrating for those who get left behind and mobbed; only for no one to stop by and help them. Tell, is it fun to get mobbed by 5 monsters while your fellow party mates and KQers just run right past; not even dropping you an encouraging word? For me, that's a negative.
