Not to dote, but in the real world such language comes from people who take minimum wage jobs for the remainder of their life and lack any real education past elementary grade. No real job employer will take such words on a resume and be accepted for whatever is being applied for. Lack of English structure is often time seen as a lack of education, thus the low wage jobs most of those types have.
Slamming myself back on topic...
Killing NPCs, I believe Murdock has been playful a time or two and rounded up players to kill bots from various locations in the game. He throws them into a PVP area and lets folks go at them for a while.

And um, Jhanniss, that is just outright wrong to say. Attacking stereotypes and saying he's more than likely going to be an uneducated low life low wage guy for all his life? I would expect more from an Ex-CL. Want to call all Americans fat or all British people green teeth? I doubt it. I disapprove of this guys spelling but saying that is below the belt.

In the real world people type properly so as to be understood by anyone reading it.
And as to your idea, I think it would be too much of a pain for OnSoft to program something like that. Plus, what if someone needed to buy a skill or a weapon? One couldn't do that if the NPC was killed.

It's not an attack but using real world facts. Go try it with that language that was used and see who gets hired. It's simple fact of life, those with lower educations or lack of proficiency in English just do not hold higher end jobs.
Those with low wages aren't all ignore and lacking of education. That was my mistake for not making it more clear. I was pinpointing a response to the persons lack of care concerning the use of English.
In essence, his post screams lazyness. Are all low wage people lazy? Nope. I work in a dead end job because I lack a full college education, so I can consider myself proof that not all who have low wage jobs ar bahd spellurs hurribully.

Show me the facts then. I use correct grammar and punctuation, does that make me some guy with 3 degrees working in a high paid job? No it doesnt. Does that guy have a worse job than me? Who knows? I don't, you don't. Stereotypes are bad for use in the public domain.

No, purposely bad spelling and English grammer are bad in the public domain. It means they're dumbing down.
If I had to play the humor card in this, I expect the majority of adults to be up there on par with the people in the movie "Idiocracy" before I'm dead. :P

Ok, I would say it's better to type clearly, simply so that more people can understand what you are trying to say. I find I have to struggle to read chatspeak, though for the most part I don't mind it too much. But yes, typing in proper words would make things easier, my mind wouldn't have to stumble over words trying to sound them out to see what they mean.
Anyhow, I don't think it is fair to say that everyone that types chatspeak will be stuck in low end jobs. It is a stereotype. I know many friends struggling, and they type just fine. How you type does not show your employability. This is a relaxed setting, and some find it easier and lazier to chatspeak.

Npc's that fight back as an event would be nice. They would have to be duplicated to somewhere other than the main towns though, so people didnt get interupted. And dropping "loads of money and rare items" is a bit too much loot. :p

Don't feel bad, an idea is never stupid. Just sometimes people won't always agree, or think that it works, or whatever.
Perhaps an event, like you go somewhere like on a mission/KQ. That way it won't interfere with shops and people doing quests etc.

Wow, this entire thread just burns of elitest opinions. You all seem to be having a grand time punishing this one guy for his misuse of the English language. Do any of you realise that in the 'real world' people with poor English still get decent jobs? Besides, who said success was a high paying job? Does money really run your world and define your goals?
Yeesh, that's a very depressing thought. I'm all for proper English, and heck, I even refuse to buff people if they don't spell "please", but damn, you're all beating him up verbally just because he'd like to fight some of the passive NPC's in the towns. Personally, I'd like to take on Roumenus and see how badly he beats me down. Wouldn't you want to take on one of the legendary heros and see how well you do?

Alrighty, let's stop all this nonsense about who's non-educated and who's not.
The point of this thread was to discuss an event idea.
So lets be civilized and discuss.
The creator of this thread corrected his spellings from the first post, so that everyone can read and understand it. So let's just drop all this petty arguing and comment on his idea.

You guys really took this thing seriously. I mean, it was no big deal if I was told that I will have a low life, or if I do have a low life, and stay like this forever. I do not really write or speak to people slang, well I do to my friends, but of course I have a brain that know when to or not to speak properly. I just write short cuts or lazy when I am in a hurry or if I doubt that no one will read my threads, but can just some people say what you think of one person nicely? Like think first before you say something that might hurt the person, like you know. Because what would you do if someone found something in you that's bad for them, and tell you this and that, you know stereotyping. If you thought a person, like me, wasn't using right english, you could ask them, "Will you please rewrite it using proper english?" or "Do you know how to use proper english?" like that. Not like saying this and that...You're a low life..bla bla(I am not reffering to anybody, these are just examples) You know. Now I know this is a long reply, and late(coz i was playing fiesta..yeye!!) and most of you wouldn't probably read it, but I just wanted to say what I think about all the stuff you guys were talking about.:)

I think it could be a fun idea. If the NPC's were duplicated somehow, put them in a different area, and see who can out-last who. Like, we go and fight ourselves at lv20, it would be funny to fight the 'NPC's' too.
I mean, how boring would it be to stand there day in day out not being able to do anything? I say give 'em a chance to show what they can really do! lol.

I believe that this was quite rude of you to say this. In typing, you can use text language and/or whatever language you like as long as it's readable and not rude. If you advise him to use proper words then say nicely, don't stuff it into his face, it discourages people.
Anyways, yes it would be more better if you wrote properly, it is easier to read.
NPC battling, sounds interesting, I've seen smith Carls with all those strong NPC items behind his back and it'll be fun to take him on!

Blame modern culture. Too many people are using short forms and some find it acceptable, others don't. Imagine having an msn conversation and typing everything in full? Or sending a text message in full? I was once insulted for typing 'bak' instead of 'back'. Yes, I was typing in short forms when I started Fiesta since it was perfectly acceptable in the previous game I played. I still don't see anything wrong with it as some short forms are easy to understand.
Anyway he actually made the effort to correct it and type in full so let's just let it go.

This, i agree with Chegism. It's wrong to say that even that's a general statement! It would be rude to even state that! If that's a fact, then keep it to yourself. We don't want people to have that sort of behaviour, and facts are more dangerous and harmful, too. Would i be rude or stating a general fact if i posted in a forum that 95% of blondes are dumb and 5% aren't (just example, this is NOT TRUE)? I'd be a very rude person and sad facts put people into low self-esteem.

You're indirectly attacking people using facts, even if you don't realize it. I normally find that facts are more harmful than opinions.

Besides, who said success was a high paying job? Does money really run your world and define your goals?
Had to chime in on this one. And I only quoted the part that stood out to me.
Fact: My mothers side of the family is all doctors, lawyers, and politicians.
They work in well respected jobs, use proper english. And they pretty much dis-owned my mother when she married an Air Force seargant.
I work in a warehouse, I pay my bills, I take care of my family, (put food on the table and a roof over their head) My eldest daughter (15) has a pic of me on her myspace page under her "who would you like to meet" section with the caption "Forget who I want to meet, you should meet this guy."
My second daughter (11) still calls me up at work to say good night and my boy (9) calls me "his dude"
And yes, my use of the english language is far from "Proper". I use words like aint and y'all, and some word that would get me banned from the forums in a heartbeat if I typed them out.
So tell me this.... who is the better person
My moms opinionated stuck up "PROPER SPEAKIN" brother
or me, the foul mouthed lil smart a// hill billy?
