View Full Version : Good game but too annoying after level 15

First of all I'd like to say that up until level 15 this game is real fun, I had a real blast and could see myself being a long term player. Then After I went that to that level 14-20 area (can't think of the name off hand, the beach area you port to from town) my game experience rapidly went down hill. I think within 5 minutes of being there and having aggro'd a few nasty pirate mobs (and been blizted with awful curses like 5 mins of -1% to crit hit and slowed for bloody 5 mins!), I started to realise the game had taken a huge step into the nemesis which is 'steep difficulty curve'.
Early on (levels 1-15) admmitedly it is rather easy, but suddenly for the mobs to start throwing nasty *** curses your direction, AND to stop dropping pots nearly altogether - WHILST you ram down the health and mana pots at an alarming rate, is incredibly unfair! The game has gone from being a fun blast to a pot popper! Archolord overtones in there by the way somewhere, to anyone who has played that awful game!
I'm all for the game getting harder else what is the point? But usually fighting 'same level mobs', you should'nt have to much difficulty, but even mono et mono the mobs are slicling my hp's away like my life is going out of fashion, so the only real stategy is hit - pot - hit - pot, wash rinse and repeat.
I should inform you at this juncture that my toon is a level 17 fighter , apparently the tank of the four selectable classes, I compare him more to a wet water balloon, ripe for bursting than a durable tank that can take some kinda beating! I should also point out that he has all his skills maxed out and armour for his level, also I have been putting stat points into strenght and health mainly. So should'nt he be able to take more than 6 hits before he is near death?!
Also the cost for buying health and mana stones is steadily rising while the mobs drop less and less. There is no doubt this is a grind game, so why not at least have a few good item drops to break up the tedium?! I know the game is geared towards crafting which is a huge plus point and why the mobs drops alot of craft gear, but it gets old very quickly picking up the same shat all the time. Meanwhile my toon wears camp gear that a real fighter would'nt be seen dead in! And what is with the helmets?! You can't see them!? At least make an option to show/hide them.
I would like to close by saying if a few improvements are made, this game can become a real class act. I'm still drawn to it, but having to think about getting hit by a slow curse of the 100th time or being hacked to pieces by a same level mob, while I worry about where the cost for the next batch of health pots is going to come from is very disconcerting!

Well for your info it doesn't get any easier as you level*and this game is as easy as they come. Not sure what to tell you. maybe make friends with a cleric?

I would think that once you're in the higher levels you would go out with a party more often considereing the things you fight would get considerably harder.

I get so darned tired of reading the same*thoughtless replies "hang around with a healer", "join a guild", "join a team"... blah blah blah...*
Does it ever occur to any of you that*some folks just aren't party people and like to SOLO?
To me, if a game doesn't make provisions for solo gameplay, I'm NOT going to play it.* Period.

MMORPG= Massive MULTIPLAYER Online Role Playing Game
The whole point of MMORPGs is to play with others. If you wanted a game to play on your own, why get a MMO?

Yes Multi-player. This in no way means that they must all form parties with one another.

Solo players do not try to force you to play solo, so please have the same consideration.

Somewhat OT, but, someone said make friends with a cleric - my char is a cleric and I'm curious, when someone parties me - are they expecting me to battle headlong non-stop or hold my own when pushed but mostly keep em healed?
*Maybe I have failed a couple of folks already.
Sorry for OT.

Gotta be adaptive, learn what mobs to fight and which to avoid. learn which mobs agro, and how far away they agro from. also group leveling is really the way to go, It will make the game more fun having someone there with you to chat with and play with. Or play a cleric? They really are the ultimate solo class. Taking my archer to 20 (level 17 atm) and then switchting to my cleric full time (level 8atm)

there are many games that require you to party in order to gain fast leveling its common sense and it only makes sense to be a party based game to make the game itself more lively and interesting, stop complaining about lvling too, its hella easy when you're in a party. no joke.

@Lady-Loki ("/user/28887")
Clerics are the most durable class in the game, so you're expected to survive when you pull aggro. Pulling aggro isn't easy for a Cleric (but if you heal you'll hold if once pulled.) Anyway, most groups would prefer you stay back and heal unless they need frontline help. When you learn Revive your job is to, well, live. If the Cleric dies the party will usually wipe.
@OP
Play in a group.

I am 29 level (Archer)*and have soloed 95% of the time(I usually go groupless in KQ's even) I have had no problems leveling or accomplishing what I wanted.So, you can solo effectively. /shrug
You just have to chose where and what you fight carefully. if a certain mob causes problems. then go somewhere else.Find mobs you can use your strengths on and/or exploit there weaknesses.Like for me for instance. I find that caster type mobs(Mage Books,Ice ViVi,Procks,etc.) are exceptionally easy for me to kill, my bow just shreds them before they can do much damage.I find the Bats in Moonlight easy for me aswell. I simply Kite them. I hit them with my highpower shot, then 2 Dots and turn and run back while my Dots do a lot of damage. Once it is at about half health(still no damage to me)I turn around and blast it down.Don't give up yet, all mobs are NOT created equal. Keep searching, you will find a good spot /sites/all/modules/tinymce/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif

Thanks for the comments, I do think this is a GOOD game, I wasn't trolling in anyway! Like I said with a few gameplay adjustments, it could become a very decent game.
One point I will mention however, solo on an MMO, hmmm. Well, the way I look at it is this. Most people do like to solo, that's just the way it is. The point is, even if you are soloing, the multiplayer part comes from chatting to friends. I do prefer to solo, but sometimes it's also great to form a party. My point was at level 17 you usually can solo and get into PUGS later when you are at a higher level.
Maybe I will make a cleric, they seem the way to go solo!
Anyway my toon name is tyberius, if you see me in game don't hesitate to grunt at me or say hi!

Don't be so arrogant as to think that your way of playing is the only way. Soloing is a perfectly viable option for those who enjoy the social aspects of the game, but would prefer to fight alone. In any MMO worth playing, there will be content for soloers, and content for groupers.

You can solo in this game if you want, but it'll take longer to kill enemies, exp will be lower as a result, and there will be no one to revive you when you kick it. The game is made to make grinding a lot more efficient in group.

Try going in Kingdom Quests. They last for 45 minutes and you can get in a party. It gives you about 1150 exp if you finish it. But when you turn lvl 17 you can't do that kingdom quest anymore you have to do mara pirates and that's hard. You die from like 3 shots or less and they have archer pirates so they can hit you from far away. You might want to solo till about 22 or 23 and then try the mara pirates quest.
As for your pot situation... you shouldn't need a pot after a hit... I need a pot in killing 1 monster. Well not a pot. A healing stone. You might want to check what build is good for your character. Maybe you build your guy all wrong and that's why it's so hard for you. Try going in a party with warriors or clerics so you won't take damage. Or try lisencing your weapon so it does more damage to the monster you're fighting. Or you can try getting some better equipment or enchanting your weapon / shield / equipment. Oh. And get some good rings. I had the same experiance but it gets better. Fight whatever you can kill faster. For example, if you fight a stronger monster and it makes you use like 3 pots to kill it and it gives you 30 exp. If you fight a lower lvl monster that you can kill without getting hurt much and you get 15 exp. So it would be better if you fought 2 of those lower lvls than 1 of those higher lvls.
