View Full Version : Subscriber Status

Here is an interesting way for the game to make money. Add subscriber status.

Free play ($0/month)
Basic subscriber ($10/month)
Gold subscriber ($20/month)
Platinum subscriber ($30/month)

And with each level there would be Exceptional (Basic Sub), Rare (Gold Sub), and Unique (Plat Sub) items at the Item Shop that would only be available for that subscriber. These items would be accessed through a corresponding tab on the buy screen. Also these items cannot be sold to other players or dropped on the ground.

Comments please...

NO, we are not making this into another lame game like Runescape or WoW.

I was hoping for constructive criticism. :(

If this system was implemented correctly it would create a better game for players and better business for Solstice.

The game is already divided between those who buy items and those who don't.

Dipple...>.>;

I thought it was an okay idea at first, but then it hit me that really, having those extra statuses will make the cash buyers and free players on different status planes. It'll set us completely apart, and although it's a good money making strategy, you can almost expect that whatever benifits the subscribers get are going to be massively overpowering the free users stuff.

Like on Runescape, the members have more than half the map to themselves, and half the skills like thiefing and special crafting or fishing (how do the fish know whether the player is a member anyway?).

Also, if you look at the way they're marketing right now, Outspark is doing a really good job to employ buying cash. In an obnoxious way. Like how almost no one in the US who attends any school prior to college that can't buy cash is unable to participate in events, cuz the most free events tend to happen at 11:30 pst, which across the US is in-school time.

And they're giving massive free user item benifits, like the wormwood cakes and giving out tons of butter for the pet quest. I'm sure that there will be something about a members option that wouldn't be fair at all to the free players, which concerns me because at the moment the ability to layer multiple boosters the more powerful equip items are overrunning the free players. This gets many of the free players mad that they're doing so much work and watching these other people fly by.

At the moment I don't think this is particularly the best idea (also considering that with more money coming in from another source, they'll lower the cash shop items price to sell more and free players will be even more mad). It's a good idea though, and I'm not saying it couldn't maybe be applied in SoS's future.

As you said : it is already divided between those that buy and those that dont, so i dont see the need for that system you suggested because to gain some benefit you would have to pay per month for a bunch of benefit some of with you might not want while with the current system i pay for the benefit i want and i dont get something i dont want at the same time.

Convent & Kelte, thank you for giving adequate reasons and at least considering the idea. :)

What about the idea of Exceptional, Rare, and Unique items in the game in general?

I know that there are better items and items with + stats, but a better verity of items would make the game more interesting. Separate from the store items that have to be bought.

I dont have anything against that, it would be nescessary to be careful to keep thing balanced but more item is fine by me.

You negative repped me for going against your idea. This is a worthless idea, and this thread should be closed.

Asmodejjj, I have no problem with people going against my ideas, as long as they do it respectfully and give adequate reasons. You on the other hand just said:

“NO, we are not making this into another lame game like Runescape or WoW.”

Back to item topic.

I have seen in other games the Exceptional, Rare, and Unique item system which added a level of character customization as well as a desire to search for these items, prime example Diablo 2.

I know that SoS is trying to be it’s own game, but good features from other games may help SoS to stand out in the gaming community, in addition to the free play.

Uh, except WoW and Runescape are exactly what you just suggested, so that post was completely logical.

Don't even think of starting a war over this, because it's already been won- by me.

I'm still against it to get back on topic........

Just dropped into the forums and noticed this. Glad to hear that there is some free community representation going on. I, too, play for free.

Tech0, I comprehend your standpoint on this, and its not an uncommon angle for online games. Convent clearly stated why in great detail which also answered all of my questions thoroughly before even asking.

As far as more items of various calibers, mind you that its in beta. There aren't even superior potions available. So I'm sure a new array of items could be added (both to the game and to the shop) that would be carefully balanced outright. Unless there are some outstanding circumstances against that?

I'm disappointed how this topic was treated. For an honest question, it took an admin to get Tech0 some respect. What is this about a war anyway?

Asmodejjj, so what if Tech0 derepped you, you did nothing to earn good rep, and in fact made a strike at Tech0's judgment after Convent's point was made perfectly clear. Tech0 probably derepped you because you provided no educated explanation for your answer. In turn I assume you derepped him because he derepped you and assumed he did it as retaliation against your opinion that just happens to be reinforced by Convent effectively closing the point, then you bring it up and think the whole thread should be closed because you're upset? Grow up. Tech0 was NOT suggesting they turn it into WoW or Runescape, in fact the idea and topic were dismissed, but you still claim some kinda of "War" for this argument, which you assume to be victor.

Don't even think about starting an argument over this, because there is already a douchebag; you.

I derep douchebags.
