I can't seem to find out how PVP works in this game...as far as I can figure, it's open only if you pay real cash and participate in special events? Am I close?

uhh u dont gotta pay cash to do pvp. those things thar require you to have a certian cash shop item are called events. to find out when pvp is check out the events section of the forums and look for the event schdule post by Gm_rider

Right now open PvP isn't implemented yet...the only PvP right now is the "Solstice Survivor" event, which usually comes in several restrictions, such as cash item, class, level. You can check the times and requirements on the Event Schedule posted in the Events Section~
