The answer, in short, is Yes, you can.

I have a PC, however, I encouraged my fiance to buy a macbook for his musical endeavors. All is well - until we want to play fiesta together...

We searched and searched for support about playing and no one had any real help for us, and so I am starting this thread to explain how you can play fiesta on a mac.

There are two possible options: Mac's Parallels Desktop, or Boot Camp...

What's the difference?

Parallels Desktop runs windows inside of the Mac OSX, so you can freely switch between mac and windows. This is great, but the program costs 80$ - and to play fiesta, you MUST MUST MUST get Parallels Desktop V3.0... NO LOWER VERSIONS WILL WORK. Why? Because ONLY 3.0 and above support directX and 3d gaming. If you are trying to use a version of Parallels that is NOT compatable with fiesta, you will get the "2-?" message, or whatever. That, for windows users, means your graphics card is NOT compatable. For Mac users, it means that your parallels desktop can't support fiesta's 3d gaming.

Another problem with Parallels is that you need at LEAST 750 megs of RAM... If you have a basic macbook, like my fiance, it has 512 megs and this will NOT support fiesta because fiesta requires, in itself, a minimum of 512 megs to run. Your macbook is then running Mac OSX AND Windows XP/Vista and so it will NOT have enough memory to run Fiesta, even if your parallels desktop can support 3d gaming - we found this out the hard way.

How do you fix it if your PC only has 512 megs of ram? Go buy 1 gig of ram (make sure it's compatable with either your mac desktop or your macbook!) and install it yourself using online instructions - this costs $40. Or you can have it professionally installed if you don't want to void warranties or are afraid to do it yourself. We took the cheap way.

Boot Camp, on the other hand, PARTITIONS your hard drive into two parts - the windows part and the mac osx part. You must choose whether to run windows or mac at startup and you have to switch back and forth between the two to run programs. A partition also needs at least 10-15 gigs of hard drive to operate. Partitions ARE permanent. Look up partitions on google for more information.

Boot Camp COMES with Mac OSX Leopard, and is otherwise available for free on websites - just google it.

If you have a macbook with only 512 megs of ram, a partition might work because your mac can then dedicate all of its ram to the windows operating system. However we did not try this, and it's up to you whether or not you want to permanently partition your hard drive to test this. If you're dying to play and have no money this might be the way to go, but you HAVE to have a valid copy of windows XP or Vista for this!!!!

So here's the low down:

You need:

EITHER Boot Camp or Parallels Desktop 3.0!
AT LEAST 750 megs of ram, preferrably 1 gig
A VALID version of windows XP or Vista, preferably XP

Please REMEMBER you need ALL of the basic equivalent stats as a windows pc for playing fiesta - that includes processor speed, ram, video card capability, hard drive space, etc. PLEASE investigate before spending the time/money to get fiesta to play.

We ended up spending $200 to get my fiance's computer to play because he made too many rash decisions in the moment.

You CAN Play on a mac, but make sure you have the right equipment first! And good luck!

It would just be better if Ouspark would make a mac port. I have a PowerPC imac g4, but can't do anything windoze on it. :( A Mac port/version of Fiesta would be awesome.

Mac port would be nice, but unfortunately, Outspark isn't the ones that makes the games, they just host the American servers. Complain to OnsOnSoft;)

no, there is no mac support. you'd have to push onson to make a mac version. however, many macs can run the game if you know what you are doing. unforutnately, we at outspark can't give that information since we don't support the use of mac at this time.

Actually, you can remove disk partitions. But if you are going to play Fiesta on a Mac, I highly suggest bootcamp over parralles because parralles splits you ram into Mac and Windows. If you start up using bootcamp, your computer will only run windows, allowing it to be faster

well cross over games (codeweaver) does not work i think because i tryed to install through that program and it wont even install
if it did who knows if it would even run ?
i think the only way for it to work on a mac is if you run bootcamp which you would have to buy a 130$ windows 7 cd for it to work
and the parallel or w/e its called but they cost so much money so people probley will not even try those

This is bothering me. My computer is really slow right now so I'm on my brothers MacBook and I can't play fiesta :/ . I thought Macs would be WAY better with fiesta that my Acer but I can't even download it on this computer. I don't understand that. Shouldn't the better computers be able to work with games like fiesta easier????????

Well. If they make a mac port would that mean that they're on a separate server? Cause if you think about it, if they're on the same server as everyone else and there does happen to be more players it'll slow the game down for everyone causing more lag for the windows members.
