I'm a cleric, and I can use the healing skill on myself, but I don't know how to heal others.* Friendlies will come up and ask me to heal them, and I stand there fumbling around and healing myself by accident.* I'm sure it seems to them I'm mocking them.* How do I heal others?

You'll want to click on their bodies once and a screen with their portrait, HP, and SP should show up. That shows that you've selected them. Then use your skill and it should heal them.
If you've selected a NPC or another character and you want to deselect them, press ESC.

Note that when nothing is selected or you're targetting a monster, it heals yourself. To heal or use a skill on others specifically, you have to target them first. Also note that if you're targetting someone who's dead, all your skills (except Revive) will automatically target your self.

Thank you, nellshini.* I'm kinda sorta starting to catch on.
*Now about that Revive skill -- is that only for High Clerics?* I'm a lvl 17.* I had someone ask me to revive them after they had been "killed," and, in my usual way, I stood there healing myself until their body de-rezzed.*
I would like to be able to revive dead people, but I can't find the Revive skill anywhere.* How do I do that?

Yes Revive is for High Cleric.
At level 20 after you complete the job change quest your trainer in Elderine should give you a quest to obtain the skill. She or he will send you to the dark elf in the Forest of Mist. After completing his quest you will be given the skill scroll for Revive.

Cool beans!
*Thank you very much.
*Yes, I've met the Dark Elf and he was a bit mystical and cryptic.* Guess he's too GOOD to talk to a lvl 17.

Or you can buy the skill at Lv20 for 400 Fame, but since you need to be a High Cleric to use the skill scroll, it's much easier to do the quest.

Forum etiquette dictates checking the previous post's date before adding to a thread. Any thread that has not had a post for a month or more is considered dead and shouldn't be posted on. Posting on a thread that hasn't been used in over TWO YEARS and two months should be left dead. ._.
As to the question it was answered in the thread:

To heal party members, you can click their picture in the party display on the left, or use F2-F5 to select them. F2 corresponds to the character on the top of the party list, F5 the bottom.
A buff is a skill that enhances skills/stats for a certain time. Endure, a buff clerics receive at 47, gives a player increased HP and SP for one hour or until character death. Another example is Vitality for Fighters, which increases attack, but decreases defense.
A debuff is the opposite. It is a skill that decreases stats for a certain time or until player death. Examples of debuffs include reduced crit, reduced aim (curses) or slow, fear, and stifle.
