Im Half-Quitting my Rogue. Templar is for me

First of all don't misunderstand. im not quitting the game or quitting my Rogue. Im just gonna play between my Rogue and my Templar in training.

To anyone who's interested to know the reasons why i've decided this so suddenly, here they are:

-The more i party with Templars lately, the more i notice how i like them better.

-I find them to look so much cooler, they're stronger, their second AoE looks so awesome, etc.

-Most importantly, they can self heal so they can solo easier then all the other classes which means (most important reason coming up) They dont have to rely on others to get the job done. They dont need to rely on healers so they can AoE. The fun doesnt stop for them when the aco/cleric leaves from the party.

-With my Rogue, i felt weak as a Neo and i still feel weak as a Rogue. My damage is 230+ on Loren mobs at lvl 74, that's just freakin pathetic. Others do 300+ damage.

Here's the most important reason why i've decided this:

-On the other online games, the reason i quit them was because once i reached a high lvl, i couldnt do anything without the help of others. I had to rely on others to train,gather items,etc. I couldnt do nothing on my own because the class i had chosen wasnt built to do things solo.

And the same thing is happening the more i level up my Rogue. But Templars...They dont need to rely on others to get the job done.

Oh and ONE more thing. When i first came to Solstice. I took a look at the Job Tree to decide what character i want in the long run. I read over the skills and characteristics and i ended up wanting Templar for the long run. But the only things that stopped me was the lvl 80 requirment and the fact that to get to Templar i had to be an Acolyte (im a melee type person, cant stand supporting for a living) So i neded up choosing Neophyte because of the Rogueness of it all.

Anyway, this is just my opinion. im sure everyone else thinks differently. Does anyone know when the Game Balance Phase 2 lvls 30-70 will be done?

I might make a Templar later but the main reason I'm goin for Rogue is because there are way too many Disciples, I'd rather be 25th Rogue than 100th Disciple lol. Just an example :p

You can use my guide for beginners.

But, keep in mind that the disciple is pretty much a mutated Acolyte in all aspects.
(Most skills from the aco exists in some form, with some minor changes.)

Just the Time Shield as an example is different from your Blind Side or Shield Crash when deployed. ^_^'


You might end up using more mp-pots over hp-pots depending on what you fight.
Minryu, we are beyond 100 already. XD I think the Scouts are still a lot more then us.

Well i dont care about being 200th Disc or whatever. Im doing this to feel comfortable playing this game. Coz with my Rogue i just feel like everything is a chore.

Lvling up solo - major chore
Collecting items solo - slow and boring without healer
AoEing Solo - impossible for me

As a Templar, the above are possible/less of a chore because i can do them myself in my own time which makes it fun, i dont have to rely on others to do them. That's just my opinion anyway.

Btw i HAAAAAATE Disciple >_> I cant stand that gay white dress. Its Templar im aiming for not Disciple. Im gonna buy an exp booster for my aco and power level it towards my goal.

I really wanted to be a templar the first time I played. I made an aco and hated it because I couldn't solo(still was a newb back then) xD. So I Turned to Squire because I could solo. If I were to try and make a Templar again it woudl probally go much better than me.

Last week my wife went Disciple and she absolutely loves it. Before we had to party together so she could level. Now she can party alone when I'm at work and we can solo or play together at any time (I went scout, w00t!)

She can bash mobs for almost as much as I can, and she has healing and buffs. Disciples rock.

Thx for all the cumpliment to our class... and lol at the dress thing, since I turned Disciple everyone tease me about the dress, but I just keep with it, plus I make fun of myself sometimes... now I'm near from templar (well, still a bit far) I think I'm going to miss the white dress.

I dont want my friends to forget Nero, im still gonna be on SoS =( and most importantly i certainly dont want my fellow Rogue friends like Haruko to lose respect in me for succumbing to a different class...

I mean dont get me wrong, Rogue and Assassin will forever be my favourite class. But i just need to do this Templar thing....otherwise i'll get too frustrated at this game and end up quitting...

I need a char that i can log onto whenever i just wanna have fun doing whatever i want on the game without relying on anyone else to help me do it.

Wish I had the money to keep buying exp boosters, but that won't happen for a while. Since you have that luxury you will most likely surpass us Disciples who have been training for a while and still near our early lvl 60's...Good luck though, Disciple isn't the easiest class to have but as long as you have comfortable hotkeys you should be fine.

I can understand having second thoughts about neo/rogue. I'm having them myself. I'm mainly sticking with mine for assassin. I'm hoping they'll be much better, and they're the main reason I didn't go scout like I originally planned on.

There's a lot of downsides to the neo path right now. I hope they fix some of them. Even if they just fix the .5 attack rate bug, that would be a huge bonus, and I wouldn't feel so crappy about my neo :(.

Anyway, you probably made the right decision. Hopefully they'll make neo/rogues more fun soon :).

Sounds eurgh, but really.. if you do it, no matter how hard upgrading equips to maximum +'s for solo grinding gets [disciple] or no matter how hard it is to find a party at all times [acolyte], if you really love the class you pick, you'll be one of the top dogs of your class in no time. And I believe it also applies to the rest of the classes out there. So I'm happy for your decision nero! :D Must be tough deciding to semi-leave your beloved rogue.

Thanks Xanthe...it is kinda tough semi-leaving my Rogue. i mean its been with me ever since the start. People know me as Nero the Neo/Rogue. The hardest thing for me is knowing that the people that know me may look at me differently now because of this decision....

I've given it a lot of thought. I still havent gotten a taste of the Templar lifestyle yet so i cant say for sure yet that its what i wanna be on SoS, so for now im still having mixed feelings about this whole thing.

I just dont want to end up quitting the game because i'd end up needing to rely on others all the time instead of being able to get the job done myself. Like what happened on my past online games which i ended up quitting for tha t reason.

I'm starting to like rogues more and more the higher i go, the dodge is starting to kick in, making it a lot of fun seeing all the misses. sure our amour sux, so it costs a fortune to make +4/6ap stuff, but it works in the end.

i think the thing here is Nero wants to be a solo player, all his posts are saying that. disciples are a watered down cross between a acolyte and a knight. so can solo well, or Duo.

I actually appreaciate disciples in duos, i've been doing a bit of Duo AOE with good templar friend. It was so much fun, we'd both collect one different sides of the map, he'd assist heal me, i'd accuracy, and then we'd both kill. circle trap kills much faster than chain block, and the assist heal means less time wasted repotting, and having 2 collectors means we could sweep the map every 3min. worked like clocwork.

so i agree, disciples can be useful.

i also know how some people can get bored, i have actually created several new chars. it is funny when i talk to my friends, some peole have been sucking up to me all game, but when i aproach them with my nobody charactur they'd be rude. that's how you can find out what someones real personality is like. it's also a nice change in scene, using different skills, though in the end i always seem to come back to my rogue.

Actually you're 33% correct XD Graav and Herepox have also influenced me on this matter. Partied with all 3 of you numerous times and even Lord turbo and Xanthe, Templars are just plain awesome to anyone who wants to be able to solo and only join parties for fun.

Here's the main difference:

-With a Templar: Parties arent neccessary which is what makes them fun.

So Strider Graav and Poxxie is 33%, that means its 99% in total. So 1% left for Turbs and myself.. so that leaves me.... 0.5%.

I'm sorry but you are wrong. With a scout / archer parties aren't necessary. Or do you think they can handle higher level monsters without help? I think they can't. Actually mages and scouts are the best for soloing.

First of all i sure as hell know its not gonna be easy, i just meant im gonna get there easier and faster then my Rogue.

And yeah i dont like exp enhancers all that much because when i used them i was high lvl so i was only getting 0.03% extra exp per mob, which in my opinion is a waste of money. But if i use one at low lvls i will be getting a lot more then that. something like 0.30% extra which would help me gain many levels and help me reach my Templar goal faster.

And yeah the aco is quite hard to lvl up but i have friends that can help me out. Im almost lvl 30, i'll probably be Disciple by Monday-Wednesday.

First, I have been playing this game 21 weeks 4 days *exactly* >> and only now I have become a Templar... and you want to do it in 30 days oO? Good luck, good luck.. ^^'

Second, what do you mean YOU DON'T LIKE THE DRESS!? I became a disciple because of the dress! You can feel like a pretty princess for such a long time! (and at lvl 66 you become a power ranger/megaman... in a dress)
Well, at the beginning i though i would miss my white dress but now i don't miss it at all XD *_* Templars are so pretty... I think i depend on looks too much.

But hey, it's not so easy as it may seem/sound D: Our attack is not very strong, the chain block is bad AoE and Dead Lock consumes a loooot MP (still looks so cool <3) + obviously, we don't do very well in pvp *cough* exceptacertainsomeone *cough*

Finally, I think I'm talking too much now. Anyway, I congratulate you on this decision and welcome to the family ^^

Second, what do you mean YOU DON'T LIKE THE DRESS!? I became a disciple because of the dress! You can feel like a pretty princess for such a long time! (and at lvl 66 you become a power ranger/megaman... in a dress)
Well, at the beginning i though i would miss my white dress but now i don't miss it at all XD *_* Templars are so pretty... I think i depend on looks too much.

But hey, it's not so easy as it may seem/sound D: Our attack is not very strong, the chain block is bad AoE and Dead Lock consumes a loooot MP (still looks so cool <3) + obviously, we don't do very well in pvp *cough* exceptacertainsomeone *cough*

Finally, I think I'm talking too much now. Anyway, I congratulate you on this decision and welcome to the family ^^

i KNOW for a fact i wont do it in 30 days even with a 30 day 100% exp booster XDD but im definiatly gonna try!

and i know its not as easy as i make it sound. Nothing ever is as easy as it sounds. Everything in life has its own hardships.

I know you guys consume a lot of pots for little damage, and i dont care how much mp Dead Lock consumes, its freakin pwnage!

Im making a Templar to have fun not to be bothered with the cons they have~

I'm gonna stop grinding with my neo because my exp booster is almost expired and I've been feeling sick lately (I'll wait until the easier leveling is updated). There's no way I can make an aco and train him because I want to finish my pet quest as soon as possible. *sigh*

Why not try stacking the exp enhancers/boosters, i dunno, but i think ive heard people do it!!
