View Full Version : Is anyone else having this problem?

I know this should probably go in trouble shooting, but I wanted to see if other people are experiencing this before I post in there.

Yesterday night I was having problems with extreme lag causing me not to be able to heal myself and die, and then I'd get disconnected, or sometimes I'd get disconnected first and die as a result of that. I'd logged back in a few times and this kept happening so I gave up.

Then today there was the announcement of maintenance to remove the easter quest and other things, so I thought it might have had something to do with that. I was playing fine all day, then started having the same problem as last night. The extreme lagging then dying/disconnecting. After this happened a couple of times I thought that maybe my computer just needed to be rebooted. I did that and logged back onto fiesta. I went into my house to recover from the last death. Then I ran to the MT gate, put on my party buffs. That's when I started lagging again, the party buffs didn't show up, I tried to go back into my house and it wouldn't show that either and then I disconnected again. At least I wasn't fighting that time, I've lost way too much xp in the last two days because of this.

So has anyone else been having this problem? I play on Teva by the way.

I've had this before. Everything is super delayed, freezes, catches up, and if I'm lucky I'm not dead when it does, and then I eventually DC.
Usually relogging helps, but I've had times where it just won't stop and I have to completely log off and try again the next day.
You could try relogging, and if that doesn't work, try restarting your computer.
Hope that helps.

Um well as I said, I relogged a few times and also rebooted the computer and it didn't help.

But actually I think there might be a problem with my wireless internet card because I was also having trouble getting onto this forum and other webpages. I just noticed that it kept disconnecting and reconnecting. I just don't get why it would only be a problem at night. I mean if it was due to the computer running for too long then rebooting would help. Maybe the card is just dying. I guess this isn't something they can help me with in trouble shooting so I won't bother posting there. I'm sure I'll figure something out. If worst comes to worst I have a spare wireless card I can use.

Ah, yes, sorry about that XD I took some allergy medication so sometimes I don't read things correctly.

Everytime I've had this problem my connection had been acting up a bit. Though usually if I restart my router it stabilizes. Sometimes it doesn't.
I'm not too familiar with wireless cards so there's not much I can say to help you with those, though a replacement may solve the problem.
Hopefully you will find a solution. Good luck.

It's ok, I have that same problem with allergy meds, only stuff that works makes me too drowsy to function properly, so I end up going without it most of the time.

yeah that happened ot me last week and a couple of times. I was playing smoothly then suddenly started to have mini lags and it just got worse and for hours I couldn't fight because of it. I also try to relog to maybe help it, but when I did that it lagged again or I it won't load.

Maybe it's the server? O.o

I have this problem too. I share a connection with my landlord so I can't exactly go up there and reset it. It could be that if your connection isn't secure (no password) and there's someone stealing it or it's just other people clogging up the network.

So if you experience lag in-game... open up a browser and see if that loads at the speed it usually does. If it takes more than a minute then it's your connection. If not, then it's probably the server.

When this happens, as much as I hate to, I just log off and go to sleep.

Hmm... by chance do you have a wireless house phone in the house/apartment/where ever you are?

Cell phones shouldn't cause interference, but I know for a fact that wireless in my dorm room is dead because of the wireless house phone, even though the router is in the direct center of the dorm room (and its the colleges, not ours...).

And by wireless house phone I mean a phone with the line plugging into a charging base that probably has an answering machine with it, you know about those ancient pieces of technology right? (I have met people who thought the concept of a house phone completely new and absurd...)

It also seems that microwaves do the same thing (even if some distance away), but unlike my previous example they only do it while active.

Wireless internet :| I hate it. I can be sitting right next to a wireless router on a laptop and if I try to play a game or stream music the connection lags and goes on and off. I hook up with a cable if i'm going to be doing anything where I have to have a steady connection.

It's not just my laptop and router either. Nearly every one of each that i've ever used does this. Also wireless haet interference xD I try to keep most stuff like cell phones and stuff like that away from where i'm at if I have to use a wireless connection.

Oh, and I lag out on my DS and Wii all the time too. Not just at my house either. Bleh.

I do have my connection password protected, and it's not like it's an easy password to guess. It's just random letters and numbers that's 26 characters long. So that's not the problem.

I do have wireless phone in the house, but they are a newer model that uses a different frequency so they aren't supposed to interfere with the wireless connection.

Anyway I'm the only one in my house that was having a problem, the computer that's directly hooked up to the router and the other computers that use wireless weren't having problems, it was just me. So probably just a problem with my wireless card. If I keep having these problems I'll try replacing it with the spare one I have lying around.

Out of curiosity, what does the signal strength show as being on your wireless?

I've been experiencing this the last couple of days too and I never used to lag at all on my wireless. I asked around and discovered that a couple of my friends had the same problem and we all share the same internet service provider and had the same wireless system (Singtel Mio). If you are also with this provider and the same wireless system, I suggest lodging a report with them. I've just submitted mine and am waiting for a reply.

Try changing to a different channel and see if that clears anything up? Read it somewhere but I forgot... D:

The signal strength varies between good and excellent. I'll have to try to take note of what it shows next time I'm having problems.

If you are talking about changing the channel on the phone, that's not possible. It automatically cycles through various channels to get the best signal. And if you were talking about changing the channel of the router, that wouldn't be very effective because as I said, the phone isn't on a set channel, it will change all the time. But the phone isn't the problem since it doesn't use the same frequency that the router does.

Kythe, I've experianced problems with connectivity before when someone turns on a microwave, is that a possibility?

Other things can cause interference too, such as two FRS radios on the same channel having the Talk button pressed at the same time.

To my knowlege the microwave wasn't being used when I was having these problems. I don't recall the microwave ever causing problems in the past. Microwave isn't anywhere near my computer or the router anyway.

Well last night it seems that everyone in my house that uses a wireless computer was having trouble connecting. Tech support said that we probably need a new router.

However today when playing fiesta I was getting disconnected a lot when I know I wasn't having problems with my internet connection, so perhaps they are two separate issues.

Kythe, could you ask tech support, if you can, to try to repair the router, or at least check the wireless antannas on it? Or if you or someone else can, that would be good as well.

If that does not solve it, then try and get tech to replace the router, and see if that corrects the problem, if it corrects it for everyone but you, then you know that you have an issue on your end as well.
