In elderine I was refining my sword; equipped it; ran over and bought some lix; ran back and I kept getting an "unable to unequip" note on the bottom.
 
Changing chars fixed.. and then I broke my sword refining, ah well.. 3 lvl 20 swords broke.. no progress.. 2 on blessed items
