Got a question for yall,

me and one of my friends were duoing in the collapsed prison or whatever it's called, and he was helping to power level me on Kharkans, I just kept spamming heal on him.

Why is it that when I spammed heal on him, for every kill he got I earned 198 experience, but when I actually helped to damage him I only got around 150?

He was level 35 and I was level 26.

Also does this mean that there is a different way of earning exp for clerics? For every class?

Going to bed now, so I'll check answers tomorrow, thanks in advance. :D

In parties, the experience is split between the members. The highest lvl in the party usually gets more experience than lower lvl members. And with the patch that makes monsters 30+ lvls than you give only 1 experience, you get more as you lvl.

But neither of you have answered the question...

He isnt asking HOW the EXP is spilt in a party, he is asking why when he healed he got more than when he hit.

._.

Maybe it was a different monster you happened to draw aggro from in that instant?? Harkans, Colls and Vampire bats all give different EXP. Other than that, I don't know. I have never experienced it myelf.

All we were fighting was Kharkans, and on occasion a weakened ogre. But mainly Kharkans.

No one has answered why I got more exp spamming heal than when I actually participated in the fight... :(

Ok, but I still got more EXP when I didn't even touch the monster than when I helped beat him up.

My experience has always been that the exp you get in a party is the same regardless of what you do, heal or fight or both.

Assuming your party does 100% of the damage to the mob, and nobody in your party gains a level, you will get the same experience from a Harkan (for example) every time no matter what you do. You could be AFK and still get that exp, if the rest of your party kills a Harkan.

If someone in your party gains a level, or you gain a level, or you add a party member, or someone leaves, your experience amount will change. Higher level party members will take more of the exp, leaving less for you - if you level, you'll take more of the exp share, but you might still get less because your level relative to the monster's changes.

As for what you are describing, it sounds like one of your party members leveled, or you were looking at the exp value for Weakened Ogres before (they are worth slightly more than a Harkan). Or, possibly, someone who wasn't in your group was hitting the monsters you fought (this will steal experience from your group, which is why it's called kill stealing).

It was the same day, last night as a matter of fact. (btw I took full advantage of the last server exp boost :) )

Also to people above that post, I could swear we attacked the same type of monsters for the most part, Kharkans, no on leveled up until a few minutes before I had to log off, and I got more exp when spamming heal. Sooo what's up with that? Does it mean that clerics doing what the stereotypical cleric does gets more experience?

I can only guess that someone elses random arrow or missile hit the mob. I've seen a few variations in exp for a mob so maybe that was it. I've tested this at lower lvls and it never seem to matter who killed the mob or who did what, if anything, the exp was the same. This was lower level duo though so I don't know.
