Well... this is Kathrynne and Elyanna on Teva... _Tempest_ on Epith. I'm also saying this for my husband, Tobiah and Artanos on Teva, Phoenix on Epith. We were bored and at the edge of quitting Teva when Epith came out. On Teva, I had no motivation to get my slow-killing bored-of-party-healing cleric past 60. My archer (long before the cooldown was fixed) was getting boring as she was a party archer who couldn't find parties and soloed too slow. Besides, I got jealous of THE cool-looking nova. I tried to start a mage... did 2 just in case it was the build that made it boring... but I don't know, it just never worked out. He was just as bored of his cleric, and his fighter was really struggling to get ahead. We'd been playing since October so we figured maybe it was just the "end of the game" kinda.
Then Epith came out and it was all ooooh look at that, we have the chance to be one of the highest levels instead of somebody low and far behind. I made a mage there, he made another fighter, and we intended to play both servers equally. Well I loved that mage, he loved that fighter, and we loved that server... so much that we quit Teva for it... leaving behind a guild, friends, cash shop items... all of which we never intended to leave behind. So to all of our Teva friends, we're sorry.
Once I hit 60 on Epith, things started getting more difficult for this little solo mage. People who turned 60 after me ended up levelling ahead of me, and the more cash shop items they bought the more cash shop items I wanted. Phoenix was doing great up until around 57, when he hit a hard patch to get through. Then real life crashed, and my husband and I had issues that needed immediate attention so, naturally, we didn't play as much. Every time we popped in and looked at our friends list... people were 65... 70... 75... *sigh* There was no way we'd catch up. Aside from our guild, our new friends, and the awesomely empty maps... the race to be one of the first to 79 was one of our main drives to play. We knew we'd lost that with no chance of catching up, and being like 10th to 79 didn't really appeal anyway.
THEN the mage bug came. This little solo mage couldn't even solo yellow mobs without dying over and over. I tried duoing with my husband but somehow managed to keep dying anyway. A trio with a cleric worked, when we could actually find a cleric, and 60+ (even 50+) clerics were rare on Epith at that time. Besides, trioing wasn't fun for me, I preferred soloing or just running around killing random stuff with my husband. LOL our favorite thing to do together was running around the entire, abandoned, blue trumpy area. He'd round up 5 mobs and I'd kill em... and we'd zig zag around the whole area just doing that because nobody was there. With me not having fun, he didn't have fun either. I guess that's just a husband and wife thing, lol.
But our cash shop items started running out, particularly blessing of teva and the soul stone carrier which let me solo as well as I did. We weren't having fun with the mage bug, and real life still required a ton of our time, and we didn't want to spend more money on a broken character. We got mad because our time items wasted away while the mage bug just stayed there, and we were tossed an exp boost that I couldn't even use. All that money... wasted. We took a look at all the money we've wasted on cash shop items since December... all those red/blue slates, outfits, packs, houses... they all add up to a scary price if you don't watch your spending extremely carefully. We decided that all we'd buy was a levelling pack for myself (blessing of teva, soul stone carrier) and a 30 day BoT for my husband but even that was expensive considering we didn't play much and didn't have fun anymore...
My friend introduced us to a different game. One which has hundreds of quests, all of which are interesting and *gasp* ACTUALLY WORK. It's run by a married couple who actually play and care about the game, they care about bugs and fix them quickly. They update and add new content themselves. They've appointed player mods that they trust, there's almost always a mod online and they have the power to imprison so there's NO problems in global chat. Yes, there's a global chat... as well as island (map) chat, advertising-only chat, nearby chat, on this spot chat, friends chat, AND private messaging. There's the ability to mute chats/people... with the ability to unmute as well. There is a pay-to-play option, but it's $5 a month and you get access to ALL the cool add-ons. And people can buy subscriptions for others, so next month I'll pay someone in-game money to get it for me. There's one cool thing that's an additional $8... $250k in-game money and we can get that without spending a real life cent too. So none of this spend more more more mentality like there is on Fiesta. And there's no huge race that makes the game fun, so we can play 30 minutes one day and 2 hours the next however we want and we don't fall behind (or even lose) friends. We can even just not play for a few days and it doesn't hurt anything. And if we get a phone call that requires us to log off NOW and run somewhere, we can do that without having to get to a safe town or ditch a party or anything.
Then the mage bug got fixed and we went back to Fiesta and it was just... boring. Lack of working quests, the quests that are there are boring... kill the same mob over and over again, watch our exp crawl up slowly while all of our friends race further ahead of us than they already are. The game just seemed sort of shallow compared to our other game... it's all kill, kill, kill, spend real life money, kill, more real life money... :(
We don't know what we're doing with Fiesta, now. Real life still leaves us with very little, and some days no, time to play games. So our game-playing time is limited and with life being so sucky we do have to really enjoy that play time. I mean, it IS a game... not work. When we sit down at our computers after, or before, a long day and look at which game we want to play play... we want to play the other one, and we have to drag ourselves to get on Fiesta. We get on Fiesta to check on our friends/guild and chat with people a bit, and then we look at grinding and it's just... we don't wanna do that, it's not fun for us anymore. So we log off, play our other game a little, and then get back to real life.
So this isn't an I'm-quitting-forever kind of thing... or maybe it is... I don't even know. I may log in once in a while to see if spider kq fills on epith yet (love that kq lol)... or maybe to try to slowly push my archer and his fighter to 60 just out of principle lol, we spent a lot of money and played this game for 6 months so it'd be nice to have three level 60 characters for me and one for him.
The most important thing to us here now is our friends, and we don't want to lose any of you. I'll go clear out my PM inbox... if you want to keep in touch, please leave me your e-mail address or if you use yahoo messenger leave me your yahoo id (my husband has MSN messenger as well, I don't though). For friends of my husband, I'll get the info to him.
And we're sorry to both DOOMHAMMER guild on Teva and PhoenixRising guild on Epith. I was going to log in to talk to you guys but... "connection to the servers has failed"... one more thing we don't miss about Fiesta. So I typed up this post instead, and now I have to go. I'll try to hop in tonight or tomorrow to see who's around for me to talk to.
Remember guys... it's a game, play it to have fun... if you don't have fun, it's time to go elsewhere... never let yourself get so caught up in the game that you leave too little time for real life... and really, watch how much you spend in the cash shop, it adds up faster than you might think. Take care, and our friends, please do keep in touch!
