View Full Version : GM's RUINING THE ECONOMY

ok so I played Fiesta in Closed Beta and Open Beta, and it was pretty awesome. but i quit playing open beta in summer and waited for the full game (i think this is it now right?) to come out, because I hated all the events that spawn chests, monsters, and gathering things that EXPLODE into pets and look and scrolls etc. This was happening WAY too much and keeps making the economy off balanced and you can never get stable. So i decided to join this again, after selling my horrid WoW account, and needed something to tie me over as i wait for RO2, and Darkfall. Well it was great for a good while, i got lvl 40 in about 2 weeks, which isn't record time for me, but its good none the less. But in these 2 weeks, ive STILL seen GMS spawn countless amounts of items and i think its just plane stupid. Do you guys KNOW ur destroying the economy? most people will say "stop QQin you can get the items too." or "so what? we love chests!" BUT COME ON AND THINK A LITTLE BIT PEOPLE! The unstable economy is ruining everything, prices get jacked up becuase people have more money, or things become sooo low in price its not worth the time vending, and its just all bad. Cant the GM's think of other ways of attracting the entire servers attention? thats the only reason why people go to event >.> ive asked alot of people... so please GMs try and stop, or at least not do it very often, it isnt good for the sever.

Your funny. These are just T1 Items which they spawn and nearly worthless and dont have any effect on the economy.
Petz are NPC price up to 6s or so and high lvl trades are gonna be up to 40 gold+ so it has no influence by the time.

everything effects the economy, its supply and demand. as supplies go up, prices go down...
little things may not seem to effect much, but it all adds up

T1 stuff are almost worthless. monster drops in higher level maps are worth more than those from the chests lol.

there will just be a greater supply to fulfill the already huge demand. Benefits the econ more than hurts.

He's right you know...^^
By the way, as a side note, I would like to add that we are still in open beta right now.

I don't think it would effect the economy o.o people get those items everyday.

Actually you have it backwards. The prices for T1 items will go down if there are more available to the lower level user. You have to remember the chests are all T1 items which benefits the low level characters who participate in the event for rewards rather than the high level character who just come for kicks and giggles. A Sand Beach scroll will not help you.
Every user has to start out somewhere. Helping a new player start the game with some cash in hand, consumable items, low level pet that adds +1 to stats is a reward.
That is the point of an event. To benefit from coming. Each Event has prizes stated in the description.

i love the chest events primarily for the town scrolls ... don't need any more pets

Like he said. The vast majority of the items are low level consumable items.
The only thing that remains permanent are the pets. And I've already seen plenty of shops with them so a few more isn't going to hurt. In fact I think I've seen a recent spike in their prices at least on my server.
So your reasoning is a little flawed, almost as much as your grammer and diction skills.
Besides, these are T1 items. The current T1 economy may amount to a few gold at most. A difference of a few silver or few coppers isn't going to affect the game as a whole.
One final note. The fact you believe this ruins the economy means you don't understand economics at odd.
Which isn't surprising, considering the vast majority of people don't understand the economy at all. This accounts for why people consider Clinton a great president even though he hardly did anything in terms of a presidency. Why? Because the economy was great at the time.
But if you understand economics you would understand that no single person can have that big of an effect on an economy unless they perform extreme actions. By extreme this would amount to either the gms throwing around blue level items everywhere in the Fiesta world and maybe throwing around bag of gems. And in the terms of a president personally handing everyone in the country freshly printed 1 billion dollar bills.
Things of that nature. In truth the complete populace are the ones in charge of the economy regardless. They can have a certain degree of influence to them, but that only can go so far.
So your bases of the GMs are ruining the economy is silly. And until actually have some proof they are doing this I would kindly ask you to keep your silly opinions in your silly head.

Also with economy you can't buy anything if you don't have money. New players can achieve a small disposable income by attending events. The items they gain will be re-sold to circulate through the low-level community.
Kind of like America right now going through it's recession. If you paid your taxes, you also got a small amount back from the government to spend. This is not ruining the economy, it's restarting it back up *clear*... *poof*! People spend when they have extra cash. If you don't have cash to spend, you won't spend anything at all. Sooner or later a Elderine scroll might cost 5x of what it costs now if that happened.

Exactly! i do it for the elderine and roumen scrolls. i usually leave the other stuff there. It's not like the chests have HQ stuff in them. I usually end up running through town randomly dropping the low level stuff I happened to pick up (I do keep stuff that can be used for production skills though)
But that's just my opinion :) Loved the last event btw. Had to have been the LONGEST event EVER!!! yay!

I hardly see how couple pets aquired durring events can ruined economy...
Trust me GMs are last persons on long list whitch can be accused of such "dark intentions;)"< from my point of view far more harm to Fiesta's economy doing players overpricing items sometimes beyond any logical reasons<lvl 1 regular short sword for 100s(i have seen this couple of times in Roumen), not to mention high prices of lvl 2 and higher items>.
But like was saying in past, this is free market and anybody can put his own price<however i will gladly welcome a option to purchase from NPCs for example scroll or pots mats, or even some greens whitch i am sure will brough a cooldown for overheated economy>.

I sometimes think the prices for certain things are alrdy messed up, like ppl said with the t1 scrolls, it still didnt even work like that. When if first started(in like november) t1 scrolls were like 75-150c, so like, with MORE ppl comming, and MORE ppl making MORE scrolls why are t1 scrolls 350c now? O.o
Now before greens were out, the only thing that i really looked for was a pet, cause i didnt have one, the pets that were spawned were at a time 'rare'. How ever even those prices went down, surprisingly as nobody could make them, and u could only get them from chest or kq. So yea, spawning chest does have a impact on this (already) confusing economy.
Green are a diffrent story for me, there was a time when greens droped so much that lv 5x greens just went for 5s, can u belive that? Of course much cheaper then npc, thus giving those ppl who couldnt affor thier 5x armor from npc(money for skills and such) they could get it better for a cheaper price.
Good for economy?
He/She has a point guys, this t1 stuff will be a bigger problem at higher lvs too eventualy. If t1 scrolls keep increasing, so will the t2 eventualy, then the t3 and t4...

You can not have a commercial release and still be in open beta. They announced the commercial release on Nov. 7, 2007
http://corp.outspark.com/news/20071107-01.php
Definition of commercial -
commercial
• adjective 1 concerned with or engaged in commerce. 2 making or intended to make a profit. 3 (of television or radio) funded by the revenue from broadcast advertisements.
• noun a television or radio advertisement.

Yes, the increased availability of T1 stuff will help keep the prices of the T3, and T4 down. Which is a good thing.
You said yourself T1 scrolls were once 75c, and are now going for 350c. Why? Demand. Too few materials to use at absorbant prices drive up the cost of producing scrolls. Thus, the inflated price.
If you have more Tier 1 materials floating about, the cheaper it costs to produce them, the lower the prices will be.
When prices go up, its a rather simple concept, the demand is greater than the supply. The demand for Summoned Beast Leather, has pushed people to buying the NPC 60c materials. Thus why you see the increased prices.
When Summoned Beast Leather could be purchased for 12c in vast amounts, well, it cost only 36c to produce the scroll, thus it could be sold at 75-100c.
So, the GM's are actually helping contrary to what the original poster is saying.

I think we are given too much free pots and stones from KQ, drops and chests.

lol?
Almost every MMO has GM in game events that offer small rewards. Usually upgrade material or a pet of some sort. If it was ruining the economy, they wouldn't hold these events.

Actually... Ive gotten pets from the events. Easily worth 50-150s.
Ive gotten t3 stones from the event, easily worth over 30s (considering I get t3 xir)
Course I get tons of smaller items, when I can manage. Mostly I get the smaller items, but I do SEE lots of pets, lots and lots, and lots of high lvl stones and high lvl stuff thats grabbed before it becomes FFA stuff.

*sigh*
IT IS STILL OPEN BETA
And yes you can have a commercial release in a beta-stage of a game.
As you can read from the "Definition of commercial", they opened the cashshop in november, but the definition doesnt say anything of making something "full" or similar.
I asked Outspark yesterday and their answer was that Fiesta is still considered Open Beta.

ok I would have expected it to be classified as ever evolving and not beta since they are selling sparkcash and announced a commercial release. But thanks for the info. Hope they take it out of beta soon cause there was more things I wanted to buy but I have a hard time with the idea of spending rl money on something that is in beta. I was spending "way to much" on here anyway.

Woof.
To clarify, the game is still in Open Beta. Get use to that fact.
And no, GMs are not ruining the economy. This is helpful to the newbies as well as the older players like myself. I like the events for the sheer fact I can replenish my Roumen and Elderine scrolls.
And the pet drops I get usually get handed out to newbies I run across in my travels when I get chances to play. Overall I find the GMs hosting such events refreshing. And I know the newbies appreciate it as well as the older players.
To the OP who is practically gushing that they're only here for a short duration, why should it matter to you? You're moving on to some other games, again. Whom it should matter to is the long term players, instead of the "filler" player until the "better" game come around.

There's a flaw here. In order for the economic stimulus plan to work, Americans need to actually spend their checks. Recent polls indicate that less than 20% of Americans intend to spend the money...but I digress.

That's because the other 80% probably owed money to the government. LoL.
I received a big hefty chunk. I can tell you it's long gone.
