Hi

I know all the basics and have managed to
create a +6 sword so far, however I have a few questions someone might
be able to help me with.

1. Whats with the Blessed and Lucky Elrues ect?

2. What fits in the three lower upgrade slots?

3. Which upgrade stone comes after Lix?*

4.
Is there a limit to how far a lvl 1 item(basic Broadsword) can be
upgraded? the reason I asked this is that my +6 sword of omg***bbq
broke when I tried to get it to lvl 7 =(

*5. can a fighter learn the alchemy skills?

I would appreciate any insight into the subject.

Thanks

Genie(lvl 19 Fighter)*

Hi Genie. I also have the same questions. I have yet to make
anything past +4. I have horrific luck and have been attempting this
for weeks now. Now I seem to be losing more enchantment than gaining.
This -1 thing is killing me and actually making me not really want to
bother enhancing anymore. I can see failing, but now failing is too
expensive. But regardless, to answer the questions you have to the best
of my knowledge. (All my answers are Hearsay as this is a topic people
don't want to talk about if they know something. Darn greedy people)

1) I was told if you fail while using one of these, there's less likely a chance that your item will be destroyed.

2) I was told nothing at this point in the game. Things that modify will
go there so it would be like 4 stars in a row and get bigger bonuses.
But these things aren't in the game yet.

3) Xir.

4) My understanding is that the limit is +9, which you'd need the Xir to obtain.

5) I've never played a fighter, but I'd have to say yes. You can choose any two production skills you want.

Perhaps when the stars go dark and the end is near, someone who
actually knows a lot about enhancing might actually come out and tell
us some little tidbits that might help new people enhance. But I doubt this would
happen as it would probably cut into their profit margin, and god
forbid they can't squeeze every last copper out of someone.

I agree.

I have terrible luck as well, and it gets to the point where it doesn't seem worth it because of how expensive it gets. It's bad enough you can lose an item altogether, but the downgrading thing just adds to the frustration.

Here's how it usually goes for me:

1) Success; +1

2) Success; +2

3) Failure; +1

4) Success; +2

5) Failure; item breaks

That example is simplified; I've had it go on longer than that, with me getting higher after many more downgrades and finally item just breaking on me.

The highest I've managed is +5, and that was with much frustration and many coins put into it. I can't imagine how terrible it'd be if I didn't make my own stones :X I just think the system needs some work. Anyone that would defend it saying it's fine the way it is needs to be tested for drugs. It's terribly flawed.

Unless, of course, there's some trick to it nobody's saying, but I doubt that ;x*

I believe it isn't meant for everyone to have a +9 weapon/armor. It is made to be a painful climb to get one on purpose. Then you appreciate it more when /if you make one. I know you won't agree with me, but that is the way it is setup.

I take 2 items and alternate until one of them breaks. I also do not attempt an upgrade on something I can not afford to lose.

That tends to the right thinking.. but must things cost so much? at level 20 it's kinda harsh losing a 7silver item just to bring it up to a point where it's worth using.. when the +6 items you got for free in KQ do about the same damage.
