Dont know if I should continue with my mage?

After reading alot of these coments and questions I think alot of people are trying to say mages suck, but is that true?I dont want to lvl my mage until I find out if mages suck bcuz it will be a waist of time.If someone replies to this coment saying they do suck then can you also tell me what character should I start.

They don't Suk My main is a mage they just have low hp and they die alot if your not partied or u dun pay attention or u Just Stupid to go close to a enemy

ask anyone bijou - i don't think any class so far has beaten mage 1v1 100% of the time.
