XP, considering all of the threads about problems of Vista in the 'Troubleshooting' part of the forum.

XP is more stable.
Also, whereas 512 MB RAM is the minimum requirement for Vista, you'll need at least 1 GB in order to have average performance, and subsequently more for better performance.

I have the problem with pink text and I don't really know how to fix it. It is Vista.
If you have a newer, middle range computer, Vista should be fine. My computer was only like $700 and it runs Fiesta very smoothly.

Ah, there was a thread on the Pink Text Issue you may want to check out if you get the chance, Why do I have Pink Text in Game? (http://www.outspark.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47321&highlight=Pink+Text)
But I personally use XP and I haven't had any problems with it yet.

I know, I used that on a laptop to get rid of the pink. I don't know what to do under Vista to fix it.

When I used Vista before and had my notebook 24h online on fiesta then it was 70°C hot and more. But now with XP it is always between 50 and 60°C. So I prefer XP for lower RAM usage AND being cooler/more silent.

Vista is still pretty sketchy, which is why I ordered my laptop with XP. With XP, it runs really good. But, I guess it varies from person to person whether Vista works for them or not.

Depends on the hardware of the computer that runs Vista.
You also have a low amount of RAM for Vista.
I'd go with XP. ;)
As for the purple names, that's a ClearType issue. Change the blend type to Standard and it should be fine. (Display Properties > Appearance > Effects)

i use xp on my desktop, and vista on my notebook since i bought it with vista.
vista does display the colour and style of the text in fiesta differently to xp, doesn't bother me too much though it is AT TIMES hard to tell whether the shop is a sell or a buy just from the colour.
fiesta, however, did break my notebook graphics card last week on my vista notebook, so I don't recommend playing it for long periods of time on any notebook unless it was built for gaming. (my notebook has a radeon graphics card and 4gb ram).

I prefer XP, especially Service Pack 2 or 3...
I think XP is more stable than Vista, period.

The question is not XP or vista. the real question is ur computer CAN hold Vista? what ur grahpic card and cpu.. I bought a new computer so VISTA works better for me. alot more faster then xp and all very simple. so if u got old computer u need xp.. new vista.
edit:
as i can see you got 512MB ram right? If i'm right vista need 1G min so i XP will be better for you.

Way I see it, until Vista does something that XP can't....There's no reason to upgrade.

Never had one. Just one with X Trap once but after reinstalled then worked fine. THe only thing I dont like is the RAM usage + GPU get hot fast.

In a laptop its worth for people who use 4GB RAM because XP can only read up to 3GB

I used premium ;) I can also use ultimate without problems. It depend how many background tasks you use. I disables all unneccesary background and system tasks and build this laptop for Gaming and 24/7 online lol. :D [I dont meant 24/7 online gaming, but like AFK vendor and so on at least. ;)]

Actually, Vista can't access the 4GB either (32-bit version of Vista as well as XP). With 4GB RAM on XP I believe you can access about 3.2GB of the memory, and on Vista about 3.5GB (edit: upon a quick search, for both Vista and XP 32-bit, the amount of memory available on 4GB rigs is determinant of your hardware, mainly how much memory on your video card which you need to subtract from the 4GB, as well as M$ quirkiness determining how much other memory it needs to set aside). To be able to access the full 4GB of RAM on either WinXP or Vista, you need to have the 64-bit version of either XP or Vista operating systems.
Just FYI.
Now, for the original topic, I'd say stick with XP no matter what. You'll have far less problems, and no matter your system, Vista runs games slower than the same computer running XP. So, better performance with XP, and more stable, overall better operating system.

Actually, 32-bit OS can only read 3GB, while 64-bit versions can read beyond that.
