here are some things i think need to be addressed
•SparkID:
•GameID:
•Date account was created:
•Email address used to register:
•Server name (if applicable):
•A copy of your original validation email: this might not be something people have saved for a long time, might wanna rethink this as well
•Your date of birth:
•Where were you born?: cant ask for this (has nothing to do with anything) edit i guess u can say what country but thats as far as i would god, but this is something that wasnt asked when singing up so whats the point of asking somethign u do not know?
•Your first and last name:
•Current location: country state and zip code only thing needed here
•IP address: edit u might wanna tell them how to find this out as some people might not know what theirs is
•Internet Service Provider: nothing to do with this, as i use my pc on a wide varity of networks (laptop)
•Date of Occurrence:
•Have you shared your account?:
•Details:
thats my views on those things

yea, i just think some of the info they want you to tell them has nothing to do to verify its you. like place of birth for one
and the others in red are things need to be addressed

they should put in something like a secret question/answer.
that would prevent hackers changing your password(atleast make it a bit harder)

O.o.
Do they ask you these questions if you report being hacked?
Or do you have to somehow know they want this information and come up with it yourself while reporting the hack?

they made a sticky bout it on how to report.

Interesting.
O.o when was this?
Because when I was hacked in December and reported it, I saw no such stickies. In fact I had no direction to as to what to do. So I just PM'd the GM's about it. If I would have seen this sort of information, somewhere where it was easy to access, if it even existed in December, I would have filled it out the best I could and sent it.
They never requested such info, just told me the account didn't appear to be hacked and that it got banned and then cast the issue asside.
Oh well, In a way losing that old account was a good thing. My stats were all screwy and I had chosen the worst possible production skills and my character was allwaayys struggling to get silver for armour. I'm a bit better off now than I was, in a weird way.
But back to the topic at hand. The verification email thing, while that would be very helpful in proving that the account is actually yours, people rarely keep these around for long. Especially after months of playing, when their email box gets full of other things, and it's just easier to delete it all.
And with IP addresses...Some people use wireless hot spots to get their internet, so it's always ever changing. And not everyone plays the game from the same place. Some people may switch between their parents house if they are split up, and play the game at two different locations.
Where were you born question? O.o definitely an odd thing to ask. If it's not something you answered while filling out the registration for the site, then why would they request that sort of info. It seems like a bit of invasion of privacy to me.
With the Internet Service Provider..it's like the same thing as the IP address, if you have a laptop, or play at different households, it's always ever changing.
There may be good reasons for these, but some just seem irrelevant.

Ah! Now I see it. I was staring right at it earlier and it didn't process. e_e Forums when my coffee hasn't kicked in is not a good mix.
Well at least they put that information into a sticky. Now people at least have some sort of guidance when their account is compromised.
