You either NPC'd it by accident, or tried enhancing and broke it. Or you could have very well put it in storage and not have noticed.

Or it could very well be a sham just to get people to give you a free weapon. Not that I'm saying you are, but I gotta throw out all the possibilities.

People generally don't give out free items and money to people when they lose or break something they are responsible for.

In the meantime I'd suggest getting a lower level weapon so that you can actually attack, grind up for some cash, use your production skills, and save up for a new axe.

My Advice:

Farm herbs at Forest of mist, and sell them to the NPC
Mine coppers at Echo Cave, and sell the copper ores to players or NPC

Then, you will enough money to buy a weapon. Simple as that.
