View Full Version : Why you buy premium items

If you're reading this, than you, just like yours truly both loves and plays Fiesta, a wonderful and absolutely free MMO provided by Outspark.

But I have heard a lot of people complaining about the Fiesta premium items in the online store.
Some of you don't have a credit card, which is as a general rule, the pits, I myself don't have one, I beg my boyfriend to buy me SparkCash and pay him back in either real money, or sandwiches.
Regardless, I wasn't crazy about the idea of having to pay for what at first is a totally free game, and it is, you can play all the way up to the highest level, and never pay a penny for any of it. Which is great, I don't think some of you understand how nice that is. After spending $30 every month or two on WoW, what a relief it is to play a game that you don't have to pay to play it. And I personally think Fiesta is more fun than WoW ever was, its free to play it, its more casual, its much much much cuter and just about anyone can learn to play it.

So why than, if you can play for free, should you buy the shop items?

First off, OutSpark is not just a company that makes online games, its a business. It has people that run it, made it, fix it, update it, it requires people to maintain the game. Not just with GM's but with customer service reps that hastily handle your problems. Can you imagine a world with no CSR Hal, or Snakeeyes? Or Silky? What about Dakkon? I certainly don't want to play in a world with no St. Dakkon in it!

The more money that is spent in the store the more manpower they can provide, and then the problems and missing pieces of the game will be filled in. Like fixing the Julian quest glitch, adding more hair and face choices to the beauty salon. The list goes on. Don't forget that Fiesta is still a pretty new game, it requires time and trial and error and man power to get the problems handled. No better way to make sure that happens than providing them with what they need to get it done.

And lets not forget the most important part of buying premium items.

The advantage.

More xp. More drops. Enhanced weapons and armor that don't break or down grade so you can make more money. You can avoid losing XP if you're like me and think you're the most invincible fighter in the world so you dive bomb into trying to kill the Goblin King with your cleric brother and BAM dead. >.<
You can get more slots for your store, spiffy outfits, houses, and the mounts! I ran once to Uruga on my Rhino mount when I wasn't nearly high enough level to do so, ooh boy was I nervous, but the increased speed saved my life.
Nothing in the store costs that much, 5 dollars is an easy sacrifice for a neat bunny house and those sexy glasses that boost my crit rate and make it easier for my +8 Zweihander to annihilate everything in sight.

The benefits to buying things from the Fiesta shop are endless, and they can only ever benefit your game playing experience in a whole number of ways.

Lastly, I would like to remind you why you should never ever ever buy from those online gaming stores. First off, none of us like the spammers, but they only keep coming back because people actually buy their products. Its cheating, sucks all the fun out of the game. Yes, i hate running out of money just as much as the rest of us, but if you need it that badly, buy the Hunters War rant, and grind till you get enough drops to make extra cash, that's what i do, and it always works.
Not to mention, that if everyone starts buying silver and gold from these people, our economy will be ruined. Those people will sell things for cheaper because they can, and than no one will buy our stuff! I don't know about the rest of you, but it ticks me off when I leave my PC on all night for a shop, and no one buys anything. And that's what we have to look forward to if people continue to support these rip-off websites.
I've looked at them, I'm sure we all have. Crappy armor, and over priced silver. I'm sorry but I would rather spend $20 bucks on red eye and sell an uber wep for 1 gold than spend $40 on 2000 silver. Rip. Off.

So there you have it folks, please remember to support your game. If you love it half as much as I do, it wont seem like a sacrifice.

That, and you forgot the fact that the CS is like a Bug-Zapper without the zappy part. It makes us go "Ohhh...shiny" and fly around it until someone's mother goes "Eww Fiesta bugs" and hit us with the swatter. Mhm. Mhm. That's exactly it.

Wonderful post, and not just becuase it supports buying cash shop items ;)
I am constantly hearing omplaints from players who ask "If this game is free to play the why _____" you can just fill in the blank. This shows a very intelligent and accurate understanding of this business model, and answers the questions of alot of players. Thank you.

I started reading and I already saw something wrong, you dont pay to get more employees so they can fix it faster, cause outspark doesnt fix.

They also get money from aadds on the site

also I would only pay if it was exactly what I wanted (the game) which none mmorpg is cause theyr the typical smash buttons like a brainless bot(aka grinding) type.

any money coming into the game can be used to hire more staff for the development team

outspark gets the updates from the 'mother' of the game.. they then have to go around translating text implimenting things and also trying to solve any errors produced

with little staff that means more work per person which results in slower progress but if they can even hire one extra person the work that is distributed amoungst all of them is drasticly reduced thus making progress that much faster

To the creator of this thread:

LOL nice rep from Dakkon ;)

I dont really think devs get paid for theoir work, like a paycheck and not depending on how much money the CS makes.
Also they have many more games they work on
Outspark just does CS , looks for the buggs(well actually we do that), investigates buggs and forwards, and ofcourse website issues, and being the court of the game and hosting events.

Its not cause they are legends theyr the strongest thats point 1, point 2 is I said prolly(probebly) never said as a fact I said I doubted it.

And if you say Cs people dont have it easyer on lvling I think you are the one telling lies here, not me.

And I assume you mean he's one person, Gj, and how much did he get plvled with his alts?
It doesnt proof anything Just that the person had a lot of time and effective grind, nontheless with CS it wouldve been even easyer.

Don't forget they have to pay for the servers (purchase or rent as well as maintenance) and bandwidth (that ain't cheap). Then they have all the normal bills which even for a small company can come to a large amount.

With free games that have shops I tend to buy something after I've played it for so many hours, it's my way of saying thank you. After all, if I had bought a game from the shop it might have only kept me entertained for 10 hours or so (dependent on game type).

I'd buy even more stuff if it wasn't so expensive, and I wouldn't mind seeing more outfits. (It'd be nice if you was shown what the outfits would look like on a character (boy & girl) before you bought them)

What does the fact that they are legends of Isya have to do with being PvP monsters? They got to level 79 without all of those things, but that's beside the point. The CS and the perfect miles are a great catalyst for PvPing areas, there is no question about that.

They controled their characters better than anyone else. And the control has nothing to do with the CS. They only support.

Any my problem is that YOU make ME mad about your complains. I always see only your complains. If you hate this game so much then quit for us please and dont call us brainless and such BS. I really hate this kind of people who cant let others have their fun.

Lolz, you really need glasses, I just said it gave advantages and your foolish to say it doesnt.

And thats what my opinnion is and you are always the onethat looks at it like im trying to bash the company which in this thread clearly wasnt the goal, you are just being pathetic for the arguement we had in the other thread and sill dislike me for it so much you want to bash everything I write, keep it up I would say.

Enough. I had whole bunch of +9 sets from the past when Miles were not out. And they would keep raising. +9's would just have the same worth as blue items right now. Nothing more.

A lot of people in PvP, probably most, do have +9 items that they did use the miles for, Crit suits, and extenders. Probably charms too. As for the grinding, it's entirely possible to do that w/o CS items. CS items make life a lot easier, but in all fairness, it's not necessary.

Lol, hey guys no arguing, its just my opinion.

I know you can play without the items, and hey, more props to you if you do, I cant, and i would admire those who do, but its so beneficial to the community.
I wouldnt even dream of playing with a boring old house and a crappy non-rhino mount.
We can only benefit from spending money on fiesta. If not only for yourself, but for the whole community. Yeah, i would say its nessicary. Not to play the game, but to keep it around for a long time.

And haha, no I didnt get paid to write that! I just really really love this game.

Kaiza
05-12-2008, 11:32 AM
Currently I PvP also without any CS items and still kill most CS Clerics. Its about how you can control your character and HOW you fight. How you time your stones and skills. THe cooldown and many other calculations.

Yes at grinding it makes it easier, but still not neccesary.

The cash shop is designed not to give buying players too much of an advantage over non-users. It's more of a convenience things for me really. If you took two identical players, and made them duel...The cash shop user would win. I saw someone arguing it depends on skill, well that's true....But it also depends on skill between two cash shop users and 2 non-cash users, so that's basically irrelevant in my opinion.

I buy HP + SP extenders so I don't worry so much about my health. This allows for smoother gameplay and more relaxed grinding. I buy exp boost for the same reason. I buy a mount for less travel time...etc.

Getting the highest level possible isn't my goal at all. I more enjoy the journey more than the destination I suppose......But I mean, if you have a faster route available for a decent price, I'd take it. You don't have to, but it's faster.

The only thing that bugs me is how they morph the game to encourage cash sales really. Elrues stack to 10, takes more space, ecourages inventory increase item. Shops sell 6 items, there's things to increase the items...etc. Kind of annoying really...

"Here's a free lawn-mower!" You don't have to pay to use it......
"Oh by the way, you'll need to replace the right wheel, gas tank, and you could buy a bag to make your lawn look better after it's cut...And I just happen to have all of these right here in front of me for a small small price" XDDDD

Well I love to have CS items. However, I couldn't afford to spend money on them, since the US currency is quite high compared to ours.

Although I DO enjoy playing this game while its free :), still I can't help myself from jealously looking at those people with those cute outfits, racoons, Teva Blessing, Charms, Extenders, glasses, pink pinatas, and many more...They have more advantage to make their character extremely stronger than non CS players, no doubt about it.

Well as long its free game, I'm happy with it...with full of JEALOUSY of course

I have read this great thread and I belive what you say is true,
and I suggest that thoes who didnt read it, please read it.
I want to make things clear as I read on the comments of other people,
I have realised that there seems to be a problem sometimes when Spark Cash becomes way too expensive because OTHER countries cannot buy spark cash all the time, due to the currency exchange.

for some Asian , African countries 20 $ could mean allot to them and mybe couldnot buy any Spark Cash, but I do not suggest thet Spark cash should be sold less, no but should the Items be less and cheap so pople can actually buy stuff or even save some spark cash for the rainny days.

Some other games I have played allowed cash items to be given as gifts.
when you went to the purchase screen, there was a gift box button, and if you used it you had to enter the players log in name.

Here in Outspark I can see the pros on cons of such an endevor.

Pros:
you could help your on-line friends who do not have ready avalibilty to spark cash get the items they want.
You could trade someone spark cash items for in game items that you don't have enough in game gold for.

Cons:
If you are a high level player who gets easily anoyed by low levels beging for buffs/heals/gold/items imagine how they would bug you if they see you wearing spark cash outfits.
There will ALWAYS be some fool trying to exploit the system to his favor
You WILL have a rash of reports of people giving gifts in exchange for in game items and one person will take what you have and then leave before you get what they promised you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

As for the general issue of this thread?

I truely feel for those of you who can not use the spark cash system.
But I am not going to feel ashamed for using it myself.
I am not some spoiled lil rich kid with daddys' credit card. I have a 40+ hour a week job, and if I feel like blowing $20 bucks here and there on spark cash, I'm going to do it.

As for the un-equal powers it gives me? I basicly by
houses (I'm inpatient and don't like to sit and watch my HP inch it's way full)
Mounts (I hate using scrolls to go through areas where I don't have to worry about aggro monsters attacking me)
Storage (I am always afraid that if I sell those ingrediants, I will need them later)
And I keep a 100,00 hp potion on hand (which when I am in a KQ with no clerics, I don't hear anyone complaining about my cash shop items when they allow me to tank and live to tell the tale)

*** Just my point of view, sorry if it offends anyone ***

Thank you so much for this post. This is exactly what I was looking for and hoping to hear. I'm a rookie and love the idea that you do not have to buy from the store to reach the highest levels. I really do not mind spending money on entertainment like this and I think I'll just purchase 10$ credits each month to make my game play more smooth and to support the developers.

And you are so right about the selling silver issue, I guess the only way to stop this is also bann the people who actually buy the silver, like they should make it a rule that buying silver is against the policy.

Thanks again for this wonderful post!

I'd support Outspark if I could purchase from the shop. I understand completely how a company works since I run my own little business and will be helping out with my parents very soon. You have to find some source of income for all that you put out. Just with any free game site they have to find ways to keep the money flowing, whether through advertisements, business partners, or cash shops it all depends on how they go about doing them. I quite understand that the CS makes leveling and other things in the game much easier, but I didn't come here for an easy game I came here for a challenge and well I got my challenge. Yeah it'd be nice to get something from the CS, but I know I don't really need it. Would it make gameplay easy? Yes, but I really don't want that.

I've been here quite sometime and I wouldn't mind supporting them if I could, but I can't. So, for now I'll pretend I am a CS user by running around in my permanent Valentine Outfit that I've had on since I got it. >3
