NPC's on vacation?

So there I was, in the second available kingdom quest, and I died as usual lol. So after I was sent back to Roumen, I decided to look for some quests to do. That's when I saw that there were no npc's visible. I could not even click on them. It's like they just weren't there.

Ooh! I experienced the same thing. After getting killed during the Mara Pirates KQ, not once, but three times on three different days. I've had to log out of the character and go back in because there weren't even monsters or gates to the other places.
