(First of all, please forgive me if this seems a bit over-dramatic or against the rules as this is my first post here. XD I couldn't find any topics on this since everytime I try to search the forums I'm redirected to the log-in page. )

Last night a friend and I were helping a newbie take down Mara for Robin's quest, and, after we had finished up with the battle we came across this er..lovely scenery:

http://a572.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/21/l_c635ebcc3f2ecf9c135ef2b4cc04554b.jpg
We'd seen it before, of course, but having previously forgotten about it in our race to level up we were taken aback by the seemingly silent message it portrays. O.o; You can see that her hand is broken off, and she's slumped forward in a defeated postion.. In the "Sea of Greed". Wow! What is this all about?
So I'd like to know..How many of us see this and ignore it? Does it have some sort of relevance to the over-all feel and story of the game we love to play?
Personally, I can't see why this was implemented into the game. I feel that it's extremely disrespectful and well, just completely out of place in Fiesta. The simple fact that it basically goes unnoticed is disturbing.
What do you think? Does this mean anything to you? Your opinions please.
Thanks for reading! ^^

At first, this remind me of The planet of Apes.
So it looks like Isia was the earth, but something terrible happened. Also (if that can comfort you), many fantasy universe are taking place after a world destruction.

TBH, I didn't even notice it was the statue of liberty. I saw it and just thought it was a statue of some warrior god or something.
Is there a Fiesta god that has a 'liberty'-like appeal? What I mean is, is there a god that supposedly gave law and order to fiesta or something? I guess they chose the statue of liberty to appeal to the US audience.
I'm canadian, maybe that's why it doesn't bother me at all. but I don't really believe it was meant to be the same statue as the one in the states...It's alot smaller afterall XD

It is a reference to the ending scene of Planet of the Apes when Charlton Heston finally realizes he is on the Earth thousands of years in the future.
Heston:" You maniacs! You blew it up, you blew it all up! Damn you...damn you all to hell!"

Who says it's the Satute of Liberty that's located in America?
Not sure how accurate the information in wikipedia is but here's a quote for you.
Main article: Replicas of the Statue of Liberty
Hundreds of other Statues of Liberty have been erected worldwide.
During the 1950s and 1960s, the Boy Scouts of America donated replicas of Lady Liberty to small towns across America. There is a replica statue in the middle of the Susquehanna River near Harrisburg, PA. The statue is almost entirely white as viewed from US-322 East and West going past the river.
There is a sister statue in Paris and several others elsewhere in France, including one in Bartholdi's home town of Colmar, erected in 2004 to mark the centenary of Bartholdi's death; they also exist in Austria, Germany, Italy, Japan, China, and Vietnam; one existed in Hanoi during French colonial days. There are replicas in theme parks and resorts, including the New York-New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on the Strip, replicas created as commercial advertising, and replicas erected in U.S. communities by patriotic benefactors, including no less than two hundred donated by Boy Scout troops to local communities. During the Tiananmen Square protest of 1989, Chinese student demonstrators in Beijing built a 10 m image called the Goddess of Democracy, which sculptor Tsao Tsing-yuan said was intentionally dissimilar to the Statue of Liberty to avoid being "too openly pro-American."
I did already know they was 3 statue's the same (except height), 1 in America, 1 in France and I forgot where the other was.

Very true. The Statue of Liberty was a gift given to the U.S by France. I believe it was designed by the same person who created the Eiffle Tower.
The only reason why it is such a huge symbol associated the U.S is because of it's location and what the U.S stood for during the time. It's on Ellis Island, which is what most immigrants saw when they entered the harbor. At the time the U.S was sort of a refuge for immigrants looking for a better life, and welcomed just about anyone in.
I don't find the statue in Sea of Greed offensive at all. I just think it's an interesting feature.
There was a major war in the story line in the game that nearly led to the destruction of Isya. So it probably relates to that.

I am sure no disrespect was intended. I had always assumed it was to pay homage to Planet of the Apes.
The question is, are there other movie references scattered around Isya?

As Serric said, they are just paying respect to one of the most famous and recognizable movie lines in cinematic history.

I thought of Planet of the Apes too. What ever made you think it was some form of 'anti-American' propaganda? A little sensitive, are we?
If anything, it's more anti-French because the French made it and gave it to us.

Don't look at MD himself, even if he look like a T-rex with wings (here we go, Jurassic park ?), but pronounce his name. Doesn't it sound a bit like Lost in Translation ?

Most people point their camera to the ground so they see a bit more "birds-eye view" over their character. so most people dont really see or pay attention to these scenery =.= all they see is the ground and the mobs... XD

Insane! I had just logged on to the forum to comment about the statue and this post was right on top. The fact that it is located in the sea of greed, and that the game is made by Koreans seems a little bit funny to me. Could it be a Marxist statement about the dangers of Americas Capitalist society? Hmmmm.

Isn't the statue of liberty a symbol against oppression and slavery, a symbol of freedom?
I do remember vaguely mara and marlone were oppressed because of their father's history and banished with their mother. Their mother died, turning them into vengeful pirates out to seek revenge against those who oppressed them.
Could that be why the statue has been upturned?
I did watch planet of the apes but can't for the life of me remember the statue in it. :o

Considering this game was made by South Korean devs, and considering that they enjoy a very successful capitalist system, I don't think that they would be bashing our economic ideals.

No, that movie sucked.... but Departed was good, Wahlburg was decent in it... he's become a decent side actor but not sure he can carry a leding role... was good in perfect Storm, too...
Donny... well, he's still tying....
