Who are the [GL]s and why are they putting people in jail?
I know this much because I talked to one, GL means "Game Leader", they have GM powers and they are an invisible volunteer police force for Fiesta.
You don't see them even though they may be standing right beside you.
If your character has been put in jail for seemingly no reason. i.e. no violation of the TOS that you are aware of, and without explanation it was probably a GL that done it.
If your character is in jail and no GM will respond to your PMs then it was likely a GL that put you in there.
GLs are not available to PM either in or out of the game so you have no one to appeal to.
Apparently it is the policy now for the GMs to assume that if you are put in jail then you must have violated the TOS in some way.
GMs will not get involved.
No explanation is given and no appeal will be heard.
I am sure that the original intent was to combat bots and spammers but it is to be expected that anyone who is not on the payroll and is given that much power will be prone to being abusive with it or at very least over zealous (Barney Fife)
This is just an advisory and is solely based on conversations I have had and observations that I have made.
I love the GMs and I love the game but I am still very cynical about the GLs.

So....They're invisible, yet you spoke with one?
Are you sure it wasn't just some creep pretending to be a GM?

Yes, I am sure.
I saw him by accident when he thought he was invisible.
Their title is [GL] xxxxxxx
That is how I found out about them.
I asked him if he was Outspark staff and he said that the GLs are a "Volunteer Police Force".
He talked for a couple of minutes and then he summoned a mover that was a flying creature that I had never seen before and he disappeared just like the GMs do.

Well, if what you are saying is true....
It can't be a volunteer thing, nobody was informed about the application process. It's probably a bunch of people who play Fiesta 24/7 and were chosen to do that, then agreed to it and decided to call it a "volunteer" thing. If that's the case, you should just ignore them. And if that's the case......Bijou needs more of them lol, there's still bots every time I log on.

Allow me to tell a story about Dakkon.
We all know Dakkon right? He's the head GM at Outspark.
Now, as a GM what do you suppose happens when an 'authority figure' pops up in the general populus of the game?
1) "omg a GM! you're cool"
2) Spammed friend requests for numerous people
3) More whispers than you could ever imagine handling at one time.
4) "Can you power level me?"
5) "Can you spawn a mini dragon"
6) "Can you enhance my gear to +9"
7) "Can you give me money"
And that is just tip of the iceburg on their balancing act.
And I've had the priviledge of seeing Dakkon at work both in-jail and in the general public in dealing with people.
And you know what? GMs act the very same way you're accusing this GL of. So you still love the GMs and all? Biggoted is the term for this reply, for you are automatically putting your biased negative opinion towards someone you hardly know.
You claim they are saying and doing things and yet you yourself admitted it is apparently just by a brief encounter you had. Wow, to be able to have such insider knowledge as you do. I could only wish to be that insightful of a total stranger.
I think you are seriously slapping not only the GL but also Outspark staff in the face with this slander of yours Tamlinari. Because that is exactly what it is, slander.. and the worst kind.
Because you are attempting to put a negative light to someone who was chosen by the staff of Outspark to perform the duties put upon them. Yes, Outspark chose them. Do you think they just magically attained that position? How do you think CLs were made?
CLs, GMs, and CSRs put up with a lot of crap from people like you on a daily basis, in game and out, so I can assume this GL is now on being put into that same spotlight you erroneously have shed upon them by creating this slander thread.
Every single action of a CL is monitored and recorded, I know as an ex-CL. So I have no doubt they are monitoring this GL closely. But you'd rather the GL be painted into something big, evil, and independantly rampant wouldn't you.

Oh Jhanniss.
I never claimed that I was not bigoted in some ways.
I have never made any claim that I was any better than anyone else.
I was simply pointing out some observations and expressing my opinion.

if they get monitored as Jhannis sais, I dont see any problems with it, if they dont on the other hand, then I expect favoritism.

I find it comical how even when a person types an answer to another, the person receiving the message can still not see what is really said.
I am going to clarify the who, what, and why of GL as well as a few of our policies on imprisoning.
First off it states in the Terms of Service we do NOT have to tell you the reason for your imprisonment. If we do it is as a courtesy to the player, and to help educate them
Second IF you are sent to prison you ARE there for a reason. Either you were caught doing something, are suspected of doing something and we need to question you, or you were involved with something and again we need to talk to you to find out how involved you are. We NEVER imprison a player without a reason.
The policy above holds true for the GL's as well. GL does also need to inform us of the reason for the imprisonment. They are ASSISTANTS to the GM's and to Outspark, and it is the job of the GM's to handle any of the more serious issues they imprison players for. GL's are normal players who have shown themselves through various ways (non monetary for those more cynical amongst you) to be of exceptional character, and dedication to this game and the players within it. For this they are given the chance to sacrifice their time and own enjoyment of the game in order to better serve the community. They are usually silent and unseen, but they act as the eyes and ears of the GM's when we cannot be there. One more thing of note, GL's do not APPLY to the position, they are selected.
Because of their efforts and their self sacrifice they have earned the utmost respect of the GM's, especially this one, and I would expect them to receive the same respect that you show to us. If you feel one of them has acted out of line, or abused their powers for malevolent ends then please report it with a screenshot. HOWEVER be CERTAIN it was a GL that did the action. Otherwise assume a GM was the one who did it.
While I would normally delete this thread and the slander within it, I will simply lock it, as I feel the information I am including here is important for the player community to know.
