question about friend list

Can you add someone to your friend list if they are offline at the time? I'm trying to add someone but I don't think its working for this reason. I'm not sure though. Anyone know?

no you can not..they have ot be online at the time so they can accept your friend invite

Yeah thats an annoying thing.
You should be able to leave offline messages, at least.
