We have all approached enhancement scammers, even without realising it on ALL servers.
So here are some simple tips, from an enhancers viewpoint on how to stop yourself from being scammed.
1. Try to get someone recommended from a friend, or with a good reputation. Although that is not always possible.
2. Party them, so that the conversation can be traced to who said what.
3. When you meet them in game, see if they have a +9 weapon or the 'Enhancement God' title, or similiar.
Plus if they have cash shop items, then they are more trustworty cause it proves they have sparkcash!
4. Ask them for any references of people they have enhanced for. So you can whisper that person and check if they are trustworthy.
5. Take screenshots of anything that could be proof the trade took place.
Just the whispers isn't good enough.
6. If you're weapon is green, screenie the stats. It will help you get your weapon back.
7. You can ask the enhancer to give you one of thier weps in exchange, as assurance to get your things back.
8. Know the price before you begin, and take a screenshot of the agreed price incase they try to make you pay more than you agreed.
9. Pay the enhancer after you have got your equip back.
A good enhancer will not have a problem with agreeing to these points.
Of course they are not rules, but try them if you don't know the person.
If you can, get a friend to do it just to be on the safe side.
If you have been scammed:
If you don't have proof, there is nothing anyone can do about it. Sorry.
If you DO have proof, private message a GM in game or on the forums with the screenshots, names etc.
Do NOT post flaming threads about it.
Note: I don't enhance for non-friends. So don't waste time asking.

That can help a lot...
But I got a question, why people ask to enhance for them? Everyone can enhance, right?

Good Question.
It is because if you don't have perfects you can easily break your weapon from a failed enhancement.
And when you get to T2/T3 enhancements you can't afford to do that.
Enhancers use perfect stones which prevent said breakage, and these are only aquired from the cash shop.

Ummm...
Wow...
...So basically, in my opinion, it's like trading SparkCash for silvers, and yet there is still a chance of failing. =/

No. With perfects you cannot fail.

I think they meant that the item would fail to enhance, not that it would downgrade or break. It took me 40 odd reds and 40 odd blues to enhance a friends level 60 bow. Enhancing can be frustrating even with the eyes! :D

And pssst this is not meant to be an enhancement guide. Just how to avoid the scams.

I have a question for you. Not that I'd ever pay for enhancement but, would be nice to know....
What kind of collateral should they give you? Say you have +0 weapon, and you want it +9....And you have stones. Would they give you a +9 weapon, or a regular weapon. And when would you give them the money in that case?
I'm just seeing a confusion that could come up here. If you pay after the enhancement they can still run off with your weapon and stones, upgrade it then sell it for $_$

I'm not entirely sure what you mean ^^;
But hopefully if the enhancer is reliable then they wont do that anyway.
Thus the other points.
I'd rather loose just my weapons than my weapons AND my money. And if you have the evidence you can get your weapons back ^^

also, aside from +9 items, most people that use sparkcash is often adorned with spark-items. look for these easy tell-tales. no one in their right mind would risk their toon they've spent a lot of money on. there is still a very slim chance that the account has been hacked, because once again, a person who spent a lot of money on their toon would not fall for hax-schemes.
i once saw a person say he had left over eyes and would do the enhancing for free. i just took a gander at this person and had no store bought costumes, and only a +9 wep. everything about it was just screaming "scam".

-Adds into original points-
I've done free enhancing due to left over eyes... but I have store items to prove it... so luckily I was okay xD
Of course there is still a chance you will get scammed, but its not likely.

I hope these guides can help them to prevent these situations :)

i like this, it help out the people who are clueless about what the procedures and what you should are.
also another tip is to take a screenie of your stats on your weapon if it's green. :)
someone posted a forum about how they were scammed and someone said they wouldn't get their wepon back because they didn't screenie the stats.

many similar guides have been written, and although they're good, i don't think people follow them and still get scammed.
either i seem really trustworthy, or people are careless. my first enhancement was advertised on the forum (I guess one thing to make people feel slightly more secure), but the person who i enhanced for, didn't really do anything you advised to do. just dumped it onto me and left. i had all the time in my life to run away but he was lucky i'm trusthworthy.
i hope other people don't fall into traps and trust smooth talkers. I see lots of people shouting in game "looking for t3 enhancer", personally I think that's a bad thing to do, as any noob can come up to you and go "i'm one" and show you their +9 awesome gear even though they probably didn't enhance it.

I know right >_< People trust me too much to the point I have gone "-Logs off-"
"If I was a scammer, I could have done that right now."
And scared the person.
I only posted this cause I was fed up of all the 'KSDBFIF' Scammed me threads which are in literally every topic.

Sorry, let me clarify.
7. You can ask the enhancer to give you one of thier weps in exchange, as assurance to get your things back. To get someone to enhance your item, you give them the item and stones right? Or just the item, but extra money.
What should you expect them to give you for collateral? A regular green weapon? A +9 green weapon? Money?

Something of at least equal value to the items you gave them of course. Always ask for something like that as reasurrence if they wont give you that they are most likely scammers.

technically speaking. you can get reverse scammed this way. if someone goes "please enhance my lvl 30 sword please" (gives you their noobie zk sword and some stones) and you give them your awesome +9 uber gear cause you have nothing of lower value, and then they run away with your awesome +9 super CG axe with 60+ stats, you'd be the one crying.
ok well, i guess you'd be an idiot to trade something so worthy yourself. but still. you get my drift xD

Would you consider me as a friend. Yes, yes I am.
So when I asked you if you enhance; you lied.

Hahah that's EXACTLY why I've never traded EQ to anyone that I was doing enhancing for - but I guess if you don't know the enhancer has a trustworthy reputation then maybe asking for a "equal worth" item may be worth it - but don't automatically assume that he/she is a "scammer" if they can't come up with one - it's not often that enhancers carry around non +9 equipment, and if you're using an enhancer I guarantee you 100% that your piece of EQ is not +9 (yet) hahaa....
Anyway, once again...safe enhancing to all my fellow Isyians!

hahaha, i've always looked at the item stats before starting the enhance. My biggest fear was "What If I enhance this weapon to +9" and this guy doesnt pay up? I had to make sure it was worth enhancing first, and will probably never enhance a NPC item.

I agree, I haven't had someone yet that asked me to trade someone of similar value when i enhance, if you really don't trust the enhancer then you don't have to ask them to get your item enhanced...also you should never pay upfront, I tell all the people that I enhance for to pay me after I'm done enhancing the item, and as in the first page, if your enhancer has cash shop items that is a plus because that proves they use real money and they would have more to lose if they scam
