One map north of Essene is really good for the 30+ range, maybe even a little lower. Just start murdering the Guron's, it'll drop eventually.

Yep, I second this. Yes it might be a pain to level up another low character; but it's your best bet in finding Firewood fast and easy. Because anything higher than 43/44 - the drop rate will considerably drop and more than likely, the guron mobs will end up running from you.

My neo is level 32 and still get FW from gurons. I've been told gurons start being bluish at level 36 (drop rate decreases).
When gurons stop dropping nice things to you, can change to krapuns, they drop fw and wood. Candyvault is the place to hunt them.
