Well, since I can't be bothered to look through the endless amounts of threads with Rogue vs Scout -- I'm just gonna ask here. (don't kill me -_-).

I'm liking Neophyte so far. But I've reached 45 and now have the option to change to Scout. It was originally my plan to change to scout, but after playing Neophyte for a week and half - I'm warming up to the class alot. (Invis is really fun btw!). I haven't been able to find any good starter gears for Scout - Whereas I have plenty of great AP gears for Neophyte.. And now having cold feet if I want to change or not x_X...

So to get down to it; What are the Pros and Cons of becoming a Scout?

I also have a 4x Apprentice and a high level Cleric, so I know how to kite pretty good and all that if it matters :X. So playing ranged classes are no problem for me :X.

Ive been playing my Neo for 8 days now and hes only 40 atm but its also
been my plan to go into scout...they look like alot of fun and i solo alot
on squire so i figure did make a solo orientated class like scout x.x
Also having the same feeling because Rogue is looking fun at 66~

Scouts are generally fast at leveling period because scouts are able to solo at any map their ankle bind works, whereas short-ranged classes are restricted to maps between where they're able to tank a monster and where the monsters don't run away. Scouts generally do a lot of damage and shoot fast (comparisons to other scouts depend on your build). Neophyte IS a lot of fun though, and you're almost assured not to die with all their escape skills.

A general problem would be deciding your build. This archer's forum is currently debating agi as a good stat to use, which (if you are without a reset) could make or break your future as a scout/archer/ranger.

I'd suggest going scout. I've found that neophyte the second time doesn't seem to be as bad as acolyte the second time (for disciple), so it might be easier to get to 45 again instead of raising up to a rogue then having to raise a baby neo to 45 if you suddenly want a scout.

There's always the fact that any neo 45+ can turn scout if they want, so if you aren't sure you can stick with neo, and if you find you don't like it, you can turn scout.

Coolness,One thing i was wondering is...Is good armor a must-have for scouts =X,I got a +1 6ap armor,+1 4ap glove,(+2 helm,+2 boots no ap :( )for the first set (farewell).Was just wondering If that will cut it for now or shuld i improve the boots n helm? O.o

When I first was a scout, I made it well with just full +1 no ap. It's not until lvl 66 when equips really matter, but having a good bow is always a plus. I think you're doing well with your equips. I suggest saving your money for getting uberequips at lvl 71+ so that you can AoE in places and gain fast exp.

Should be interesting. All I need is to work on getting +1 6AP gears.

@ Mikitan

Since you have a high level Cleric and you're enjoying your time as a Neo, I suggest you go on and become a Rogue. There is a bigger gap in playing style between Rogue-Cleric than Scout-Cleric. So take your time and enjoy playing an aggressive melee class for a change. In any case, you can always change class to Scout anytime you feel bored with your Neo.

@Lolilokoko

Prioritize good bows first. Always. You can't imagine how many newb Scouts I've seen in the game wearing +4 6ap gears and a +1 0ap bow. Convent is right in saying that upgraded gears only begin to matter for Scouts around lvl66 or so.

Since Scout change at lvl45, you can make do with a low-powered Archer's bow--+1 2ap Archer's bow is good enough. At this point you're going to outgrow it fast anyway. A good time to invest some real kron on a bow is when you change bows and need to use Marksman's bow. What I did, I bought a Marksman's bow+5 6ap and then bought +0 0ap gears from the NPC. I never had a problem grinding to my current level with those gears.

Thanks for the info..i still have near 4m left,which im hoping i can score a decent bow with,and i plan on keeping the first Farewell set of gears i have untill the NPC ones get better or i can find a +1(or cheapo) with better defence.Atm the bow ii have is +1 2ap =X for 43 i believe.
Still grinding about 150% a day and only 41 atm.Should i invest in the lvl 66~ set when i see them or by the time i get that lvl will they still be easy to find..Ty for all the info,and sorry for the newb questions ;_;

I used the exact same bow (Archer's bow+1 2ap) all the way up to lvl54 when I was your level. When you can switch to Marksman's bow, try to find one with at least +4 6ap stats.

With the current market trend you can buy a +4 6ap Marksman's bow for 2.5m if you're lucky. Regular price for it is around 3m, give or take. But don't go over 3.5m. That's too expensive.

About gears, only invest in them when you're high enough to wear Discovery gears. Of course you can go out and hunt them yourself but don't count on it.

I'm glad I could help.

Remember that everything I said is how I did things back then. It's definitely not the best way to level up fast as a Scout, but it was the best way for me considering the limited kron I had at the time.

Feel free to post here or PM me in-game if you have anymore questions.

I'm certain you don't need amazing gear to level fast. It only helps in a positive way. xD

Sakura, I saw Zayki in Chant the other day and he shot Wind Blows like crazy--he was doing 2 or more Wind Blows per second and dishing 700~900 damage each shot. He is by far the fastest scout I've seen in the game.

Are you just as fast as he is? I've never seen you anywhere outside Essene, except that one time when I saw you pass by me in Colrona Forest. I don't know if you remember.

In terms of spamming speed, we are just about at the same speed. In terms of dmg, he does a little more than me. Not too sure wat lvl he is tho, he always tells me its a secret >.< Well, in terms of dmg, in chant, i dont think he'd do 700-900. lol, he does about high 900s-1k reg dmg even in phil without buffs. so id say about 1.1k-1.2k reg dmg in chant at least. xDD i do almost the same amount of dmg as well. xDD
