Mining Question

I have a question about mining that has bugged me from the start. I encourage anyone to answer this. The little bar at the bottom of the screen that comes up when you are mining, with little yellow line on it that appears in random spot when you mine something different. WHAT DOES IT DO? IS THERE ANY WAY TO MINE QUICKER WITH IT? DOES IT MEAN ANYTHING?

Well, it's supposed to help you to mine faster. It works that you press the moving yellow line as soon as it hits the bar and you get the ore. But it doesn't work now so don't worry about it...
