This may just be me, but has anyone noticed how Fiesta's boundries are so...limited?
Let me make an example:
Let's say you're walking through Elderine, and you see those little empty houses with the nice lawns. Wouldn't it be cool to hang around there, maybe set up your shop there away from the lag-filled town square? Yes! Finally, somewhere where you can stand out. So you walk up the steps only to be stopped by the "This area is not accesible." text. Oh ye gods, why can't I just walk around on this lawn?
So you head down to Elderine's park to go sit and relax because you can't venture in a lawn. You see a bench and try to sit on it, only to get another "This area is not accesible." Okay...maybe you can jump on it and then use the sit emoticon...but nope, jumping is completely useless and you can't get on that bench at all. You weep and sit on the dirty ground.
Now I know there are plenty more serious things that could be fixed other than this, but I'd like to see more interaction with the environment in Fiesta. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to have platforms (tree stumps, or those little stones in Forest Perimeter, stuff like that) that can actually be jumped on? Or maybe being able to cross through shallow water? Or when you walk in sand you leave behind little footprints? Just little things that could be added to make Fiesta more realistic.
I'm not saying "OMFG I HAET U GMS DO THIS NOW OR ELSE!!!!" but I would like to see these kinds of things in future updates of Fiesta. :3

Totally agreed. I've tried to walk into many of those lawns in Elderine, heh. And many other places that are not accessible. There is ONE place that you can walk through the shallow water- in Burning Hill. That made me really happy when I discovered that, until I realised you couldn't do that in most places with water :\
On an off topic note, what is Forest Perimeter? Sorry for being a noob, but I've only heard it mentioned in the last couple of days, and never heard of it before that. o_o

It's a new area that came with the update. You need to talk to the battle guard behind Item Merchant Nina's house to get there. It's basically a field that leads to the 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50-59 abyss areas.

Well as cool as it would be, it might be a pain to program that. So perhaps that's the reason why we can't walk in those lawns and such.

Which is why I wouldn't ask for it RIGHT NOW AT THIS INSTANT...but, you know, something they could work on on the side while they take care of bugs and all. :P

Aah, to sit on the cool, green grass instead of the dirty, hard streets. That'd be awesome. ;_; I know there's this one spot in Roumen on the hill below the Sand Beach gate where I really wanna set up my house when I rest. XD Its so awesome and I'd get a good view.

Changing something like this would be a heck of a task. I imagine it would require an engine / graphic update of some sort. That could be expensive, time consuming, and often nail-bitingly frustrating. Going from boundaries to no boundaries would cause map leaks, and a whole pile of unforeseen problems.
In short, it's the different between falling through the floor and walking on it. =X

Nononono, I'm not saying we should get rid of all the boundries! After all, we need the boundries so we don't start walking through buildings and running in midair. I'm just talking about "Why can't I just walk on this lawn in the house in Elderine" or "Why can't I stand on this platform?" Those kind of things.
But heh, the graphics are being updated anyways, so..

Well, I'm not an expert by any means, but I do know a bit about making game maps. I've made several maps for unreal tournament and games like it. I think these boundaries are probably a good thing. As for walking on the grass and stuff, it's probably do-able. I dunno how much you know about that kind of thing but feel free to correct me here.
Oh, hate to blow anyone's illusion btw, but buildings are usually empty boxes with fancy textures XDDDD There's nothing inside them so I don't think you'd be able to go in them.
Those boundaries you're talking about are more than likely big, huge, gigantic invisible walls. Yes, those can be moved, resized, etc. However, what I'm not sure about is how they have the buildings, platforms, etc designed. For example, if they designed a building in a 3D editing program, they may have added the grass in the same model. Or the grass could be it's own little model I dunno. But if it's all one model, then it's very hard to make it "walkable". Heck, the entire roumen city could be one model, it's totally possible.
The boundaries stop you from walking onto the model, which probably would cause problems as I mentioned.
Anyway, I'm talking too much about stuff I know very little about. I'm just going by my experience from designing unreal maps, you can have an entire map designed in 3ds max and imported into the game. That's why.

Giant block of text here.
I guess that makes sense. I just thought it would be a nice feature though. Still, no excuse for not being able to leave footprints in the sand! >:3

well, they did extend some boundaries in sand beach... you know those parts of the hills where treasure chests used to spawn and no one can get to it because the area is not accessible? ... well, now i can get to them but there isn't much point since the treasure chests seem to have stopped spawning there.... or maybe someone always gets to the chests before me...idk.

you know those parts of the hills where treasure chests used to spawn and no one can get to it because the area is not accessible?Yea but that's just generated terrain, you could walk on that for days and not find a single leak.

You gotta remember, This game is only in a beta and I agree with yourmojo it would take awhile...

I don't know why it would be that hard....I've seen it done in Flyff, another similar game I play.

I've already explained why it would be hard. If something exists only as a fake, impassable, empty box, it would certainly be hard to turn it into something that's real, passable, and possibly enterable.
-that game- is completely different from Fiesta. I'm certain it runs on a different engine. You aren't allowed to mention the names of other games anyway. At least other MMOs.

LOL its funny seeing everyone say 'Hey the gm's should program that into the game" when in fact gm's dont design or program any ingame software they just watch over the ppl, try to find bugs/glitches, and stuff like that. I think these ideas are really cool and it really aggrevates me that the jump button is 100% useless. At least let us jump off the eldy bridges(ingame suicide).:p
Not to mean to much damage but either we havent gotton hardly anything transfered(any1 know if other versions can do tis kinda stuff?) or the developers are slacking big time, and taking it too slow. I have played many games and Fiesta is one of the slowest progressing games ive played(I still love it though), they need to hire more ppl or something its not like there not getting income(may not be P2P but ppl spend over 50$ a month on this game every month to buy time limited items).

I have some experience in designing maps for Jedi Knight. Most, if not all, of those buildings were several planes put together to make a box. The different planes could be grouped together as one for easy movement, but they could be walked right THROUGH unless you made an impassable barrier to put over each surface. For example, if you made a pirate ship and wanted to put a plank out the side for fun and games, the plank itself would have five barriers on it, one on the top, bottom, both sides and the front. If they didn't want people passing through buildings at will, they'd have to put one on every single edge, top, bottom, front, back, side, and diagonal that they created. If anything was curved they would need quite a few (maybe around a hundred or even more) to make the interactive surface curved. This entire process takes quite a bit of time. An average JK map takes maybe around a month to complete, while the really good ones can take up to a year. And that's just ONE map that is about half the size of most Fiesta maps. Doing an entire game the size of this one could take 5 to 10 years to complete. It is a lot easier to put four barriers around an object and call it done rather than put half a million into a town. As a programmer, I know how hard it is to code something small, let alone something as big as Fiesta, and trust me when I say, if there's an easier and faster way of doing something, it's going to be done that way.

Yes, thank you sagi. Someone who agrees with me. Though I imagine the unreal engine, in all it's glory, probably deal with these things alot easier. I never had to put barriers on all the objects, the game did it for me. Which is why I suggested it could take a an engine update or something.
It's the same with flash games, you could add hit detection for each little wall or object that your char hits, or you can simply draw an invisible barrier that they can't go through, I'd certainly chose the invisible barrier.
