it is aftre 3:30 PST and it is almost 8:00 EST...why is it not up and running yet?

Ah, I think they were waiting for you to show up before they opened the open beta. Now that you are here, it shouldn't be too long at all. ;P
Actually, if you had read almost any other part of the forums you would have seen that the open beta has been delayed until Monday.
